What Happened to Qing Ye and Xing Wu on Dazzling Ending?
On the eve of Chinese New Year, another tragedy struck Xing Wu’s family. Xuandao caught in fire and everyone panicked because Grandma was still inside. Xing Wu bravely charged into the house to save her. While carrying Grandma on his back, he also managed to grab Qing Ye’s laptop from the table.
After the police investigate the fire, they discovered that Yang Gang was the one responsible. He hadn’t intended to burn the house down, but because of his carelessness and his illegal business, he was arrested. The whole neighbourhood came together to help the family. Qing Ye and Xing Wu were determined to work even harder to earn enough money so they could rebuild the house.
But just a few days before the school started, Qing Hong Zhi arrived. Watching her long-lost father slowly step out of the car, Qing Ye was left stunned. Qing Hong Zhi had come to take Qing Ye back to Beijing. At first, she refused it. She had only just started to enjoy her life in Zhazhating.
She had made new friends, found exciting things to do, grow close to Li Lan Fang and Grandma, and most importantly, Xing Wu was there. However, she changed her mind after Uncle Sun told her that returning to Beijing would not only fulfil her father’s wish but also help ease the burden on Xing Wu’s family. One less mouth to feed meant Xing Wu had one less thing to worry about.
Qing Hong Zhi, who already learned about the close relationship between Xing Wu and Qing Ye, visited him on his workplace. He told Xing Wu to stay away from Qing Ye and stop contacting her. He didn’t want Xing Wu to stand in the way of her future.
Although he was obviously heartbroken, Xing Wu agreed without hesitation. His response caught Qing Hong Zhi off guard, but all Xing Qu wants was the best for Qing Ye. Before he returns to his work, Xing Wu told Qing Hong Zhi that he should spend more time with his daughter. Even though Qing Ye seemed strong and independent, she could still feel lonely at home. Qing Hong Zhi was left speechless to hear that.
The night before the departure, Qing Ye asked Xing Wu to take her to the beach. They sat beneath the lighthouse. Xing Wu told her that she is a natural-born explorer and now is the time for her to set sail and conquer the sea. Xing Wu knew why she was reluctant to leave, but he told her that once she left, she shouldn’t never go back.
Qing Ye wanted him to come with her. but Xing Wu hesitated. His grades weren’t enough to get into the same university, let alone study abroad with her. But Qing Ye told him that if he wanted to see her again, he had to come to her on his own. She believed that Xing Wu will find the way to do that.
Qing Ye said that she’ll apply to Qingbei University. She would cut the distance between them by half. The remaining half is up to him. Then, she deleted their numbers from both of their phone. Xing Wu saw she did it in despair.
Qing Ye slowly explained that until he caught up with her, they wouldn’t stay in touch. She wanted it to motivate him, hoping that the next time they met, they would both be the best version of themselves. Xing Wu simply told her to keep moving forward. He would catch up.
My heart broke when they parted that night. Tears streamed down both of their faces. 😭
Before leaving Zhazhating, Qing Ye told her father that she wanted to do something for the Xing family. They had treated her like a family, and she felt the same way too. Qing Hong Zhi then visited Li Lan Fang and offered a bank card containing 100,000 yuan.
It wasn’t meant to be a loan initially. But Li Lan Fang only accepted it after promising that she would pay back every single cent. The righteousness that ran in the family shocked Qin Hong Zhi. He definitely hadn’t expected that kind of response from the mother and son.
When Qing Ye left, everyone came to see her off, except Xing Wu.
As soon as they arrived in Beijing, the Mengs invited them to a welcome dinner. Qing Ye refused at first. She still remembered how Mrs. Meng had treated her back then. But Qing Hong Zhi insisted that they should maintain relationship, she went anyway. But she didn’t forget to throw a light jab at Mrs. Meng during the dinner, leaving her face red.
Qing Ye worked hard to prepare for the Gaokao. She told her father that she no longer wanted to study abroad. Instead, she would apply to Qingbei University. Qing Hong Zhi was furious. Studying abroad had been Qing Ye’s mother’s last wish. But Qing Ye argued that it wouldn’t be too late to pursue further studies overseas later. But right now, she only wanted to attend Qingbei University.
And she did. After receiving her Gaokao result, Qing Ye went to Qingbei University. Once she arrived on campus, she tapped on her phone three times, sending her location to Xing Wu. And after seeing it, Xing Wu decided to repeat his senior year so he could get into the same university. But he never came.
FYI, the distance between Zhazhating and Qingbei is 808 kilometres. That means, the distance between Zhazhating and Beijing is roughly 1,600 kilometres, or 1,000 miles.
Five years later. Qing Ye now worked in an investment company. She had only recently graduated. But with her excellent grades and outstanding capabilities, she had already become one of the company’s most capable employee.
She managed to successfully landed a major project. Her supervisor offered her a promising energy project, but she turned it down and chose a ranch sea farm project instead. It was an agriculture project that would be built in Changdao, near Zhazhating. Unexpectedly, she ran into Meng Rui Hang during the project presentation. He was now working as a lawyer in a prestigious law firm.
After the meeting, they walked out of the building together. Meng Rui Hang told Qing Ye that he was willing to keep on waiting for her. He said so even though he knew that Qing Ye has been waiting all those years for Xing Wu to come and find her.
Later, Qing Ye finally got the chance to visit Zhazhating receiving a wedding invitation from Shi Min and Fan Tong. There, she reunited with Li Lan Fang, paid her respects to Grandma, and attended the wedding. Xing Wu was nowhere to be seen, and she hadn’t heard any news about him because everyone assumed that the two of them still kept in touch.
During the wedding, Qing Ye kept waiting for Xing Wu to show up. But then her supervisor called, and she has to return to Beijing immediately. Having no other choice, she left. It turned out, Xing Wu was actually on his way to the wedding when Qing Ye left. His flight had been delayed so by the time he arrived, the party was already over, and Qing Ye had left long ago.
Xing Wu later told Li Lan Fang that he would be working in Beijing at Aofei, an aircraft manufacturer company. Knowing that he was heading to Beijing, Li Lan Fang gave him a bank card and asked him to return it to Qing Ye’s father. But Xing Wu told her that the debt had already been repaid by him. He had earned the money by selling the patent for an aircraft model. Now he also earned money from the dividend income.
Qing Ye and Xing Wu lost the chance to meet each other. Although Qing Ye acted calm and nonchalant, deep down inside, she still hoped that one day he would fulfil his promise and come find her.
Xing Wu eventually moved to Beijing. He was welcomed by his friend, Qu Xing, who would also work at the same company. Qu Xing took him to a welcome dinner with their professor at a fancy restaurant. Little did he know that Qing Ye was at the very same restaurant that night. She was drinking her sorrow away with her friend Qu Bing. Once again, fate let them cross path without ever meeting.
Back home, Meng Rui Hang was waiting outside Qing Ye’s apartment. She was drunk, so he helped her inside, settle her onto the sofa, and brought her a glass of water. When he handed to her, Qing Ye called him “Xing Wu”. Meng Rui Hang froze. He gently told her that he was Meng Rui Hang, but Qing Ye was too drunk to hear him. He covered her with a blanket and quietly left.
My heart ached for him. He is such a good boy… 😩
A few days later, Qu Bing asked Qing Ye to join her on a blind date. She wanted to introduce Qing Ye to her little brother, who had graduated from Xigong University. Qing Ye refused the blind date but accepted the free meal instead. Qu Bing was frustrated to see her friend still hung up on the man who had never come and wished she would forget him.
At the same time, Qu Xing also asked Xing Wu to accompany him on a blind date. He told Xing Wu that his sister was beautiful. Xing Wu turned it down immediately. Qu Bing knew that Xing Wu already has someone on his heart. But he kept begged him to come along and Xing Wu kept saying no, until he saw the photo of Qu Bing’s sister and her friend.
Xing Wu and Qing Ye finally meet each other. It turned out that Qu Bing and Qu Xing were siblings. But in front of them, Xing Wu and Qing Ye pretended not to know each other. Still, anyone with discerning eyes like Qu Bing, know that there something between them. And anyone who couldn’t sense the awkward tension must have been completely blind. 😄
Xing Wu ordered all of Qing Ye’s favourite dishes and even served her foods. Qing Ye acted a little cold towards him, but Xing Wu is all smiles. She asked if he had just moved to Beijing. Xing Wu explained that he had graduated from Xigong University and was in Beijing for a project with his advisor. Qing Ye replied, “You just came to Beijing, and you’re already on a blind date?”
You could definitely hear the jealousy in her voice. Girl, he was there for you…😆
And Xing Wu certainly knew how she felt. He told her that he was there for the free meal. He also admitted that he always had someone in his heart that he couldn’t forget. The reason he hadn’t gone to find her was because he was afraid that he was not good enough for her.
All those years, he had been working hard to close the distance between them. Qu Xing, the silly goose, kept defending his friend in front of Qing Ye without realizing the tension between them. Before they left the restaurant, Xing Wu asked for Qing Ye’s WeChat ID. Seeing her freeze, Qu Bing simply took Qing Ye’s phone, showed Xing Wu the QR code, and let him scan it. Then she dragged her silly brother to give Qing Ye and Xing Wu a little time alone.
Xing Wu thought he could take Qing Ye home, but she already called for a car too. As soon as the Xing Wu’s car left, Qing Ye immediately accepted his friend request and checked on his Moments. A smile bloomed at her face.
During a business trip to Changdao, Qing Ye visited Shi Min’s father’s oyster farm. There, she met Cao Ping, who had become Mr. Shi’s right-hand man and the farm’s manager. Qing Ye was there to promote the industrial upgrading project and the visit went smoothly.
Afterward, Qing Ye visited Grandma’s grave before heading to Xuandao to stay for few days. She wandered around Zhazhating. Every corner brought back memories of Xing Wu. At Xuandao, Li Lan Fang was overjoyed to see her and cooked hearty meal and they had a dinner together with Ma Yu Fen and Jin Shan Xi.
The next morning, Qing Ye wake up to an empty house. Li Lan Fang had work to do in the county and might not be back home that night. Feeling a little disappointed, Qing Ye decided to take a walk and visited her old high school. Unbeknownst to her, Xing Wu had rushed back to the house. His excitement quickly faded when he realized no one was there. Xing Wu thought he had missed her again. He walk to the lighthouse with a heavy heart and empty gaze.
Just as he stood there staring at the vast sea, Qing Ye arrived. The moment their eyes met, something clicked inside him. Xing Wu rushed toward her, look deeply into her eyes and kissed her. Qing Ye was stunned for a split second, but she quickly returned the kiss.
Qu Bing got the exclusive news straight from Qing Ye, who called her that night. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang in Zhazhating heard it from Fan Tong’s father who accidentally witnessed Xing Wu and Qing Ye embracing beneath the lighthouse. 😅
After they finally got together, there’s one more hurdle to face, Qing Hong Zhi. Who would have thought they’d caught red-handed by him while he was waiting for Qing Ye in the parking garage? Clearly displeased, Qing Hong Zhi began questioning her choice. Qing Ye calmly explained that she liked Xing Wu and he made her happy. And although her decision to stay at Beijing partly because of him, Qing Ye had also carefully considered her future.
Qing Hong Zhi then revealed that Xing Wu had already repaid the 100,000 yuan, along with the interest. He admitted that his own marriage was a failure and said he wouldn’t interfere with hers. He just worried that the huge gap between their family would eventually lead to conflict.
Qing Ye replied that Xing Wu had spent five years catching up to her. She believed that he would do his utmost to cross every gap between them. Later, Qing Hong Zhi send her a message, asking Qing Ye to bring Xing Wu to the house.
Qing Hong Zhi took Xing Wu to the garden. He asked him to help him plant some seeds. It was the first test, and Xing Wu passed it with ease. The second one was golf. This time, Qing Hong Zhi even invited Meng Rui Hang to join them. Qing Ye was flabbergasted to see him there. Instinctively, she reached for Xing Wu’s hand.
Meng Rui Han noticed but simply smiled. He genuinely feeling relieved to see Qing Ye being happy and even defended Xing Wu when Qing Hong Zhi questioned whether he could play golf. But again, Xing Wu surprised everyone. He turned out to be pretty good with golf too. By then, Qing Hong Zhi could see that Meng Rui Hang had already let go of his feelings for Qing Ye.
Seeing that Xing Wu had passed every test and he genuinely work hard to bridge the gap between him and Qing Ye, Qing Hong Zhi finally relented. Xing Wo promised he would keep working hard to give Qing Ye a better future she deserved.
And Meng Rui Hang? He finally let go of his first love and decided to go abroad for further studies.
Xing Wu and Qing Ye’s relationship took another step forward thanks to Qu Xing’s accidental “help”. Because he wanted to borrow Xing Wu’s apartment to watch a movie with his girlfriend, Xing Wu has no choice but to stay at Qing Ye’s place. Their intimate moments were interrupted again and again by phone calls after Xing Wu publicly announcement on Moments that he was officially in a relationship.
Qing Ye worried that Li Lan Fang might not approve of them dating. Xing Wu reassured her that Li Lan Fang would be thrilled. And he was absolutely right. Li Lan Fang even picked them up at the airport when they return o Zhazhating for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Together, Xing Wu and Qing Ye went to visit Grandma’s grave.
Grandma had been one of the very few people who knew about Xing Wu’s feelings for Qing Ye. She had once told him that if he wanted to see someone again, he has to go all out to find them. She also encouraged Xing Wu to chase his dream because there’s still a long road ahead of him. He should move forward instead of staying, so Xing Wu wouldn’t trapped in that small town like she had.
Xing Wu and Qing Ye celebrate the festival with their loved ones, surrounded by laughter and happiness. As they looking back to the past five years, Qing Ye realized that it wasn’t until she came to Zhazhating that she understood there were many things that money couldn’t buy.
Later, Zhu Feng invited Xing Wu to speak as the school’s most outstanding alumnus. At the ending, before the students, Xing Wu repeated some of the words Qing Ye had said to him many years ago, “No one is born dull. We can polish ourselves until we shine.”.
What Happened to Li Lan Fang and Grandma Zhou on Dazzling Ending?
When she learned that Qing Hong Zhi has come, Li Lan Fang wasn’t happy. She has already guessed that he was here to take his daughter away.
Li Lan Fang admitted that initially she has agreed to take care of Qing Ye for the sake of the money. But as time went by, she came to think about Qing Ye as her real niece. So, she really didn’t want to let her go. Qing Ye is also the same. She didn’t want to leave them either.
Knowing that Qing Ye is upset with her father, Li Lan Fang shared a story from her own past. Back then, she fell in love with a man that her mother and sister (Qing Ye’s mother) strongly disapprove. Li Lan Fang believed that they didn’t understand anything, about her feelings nor love. She ran away with him and ended up living the life she has now. It left her nothing but regrets. But in this life, there’s no cure for regrets.
So Li Lan Fang told Qing Ye to not being angry with her father. Don’t choose the wrong path out of anger. In this world, there is no parents wants to hurt their children. She urged Qing Ye to go home and live well. That was the answer that Qing Ye has been asking for. But Li Lan Fang said every word with tears in her eyes, her trembling hand resting gently atop of Qing Ye’s head.
Grandma felt the same way too. Grandma knitted a red scarf for Qing Ye. But, Grandma’s hand weren’t as nimble as they used to be, and Qing Ye was leaving on such short notice. The scarf wasn’t finished when by the time Qing Ye left. Grandma promised that when she returns, she will give her the finished scarf.
Qing Hong Zhi later visited Li Lan Fang to thank her for taking care of Qing Ye. He handed her a bank card containing 100,000 yuan (around 14,000 USD), saying it was a token of his gratitude and that she needed money to repair Xuandao.
After all, it was better to have money than not. Knowing that he was right, Li Lan Fang accepted it. But she will treat the money as a loan and promised to repay every single cent. She even wrote an IOU, saying she did it for Qing Ye’s sake.
After Qing Ye left, the whole house felt gloomy. Li Lan Fang and Xing Wu couldn’t hide their sadness. It was Grandma who comforted them. She said that Qing Ye was going to live a comfortable life, so there’s nothing to be sad for. Life goes on. People come and people go. As long as they lived well, those who parted will meet again someday.
Grandma’s condition continued to decline until one day Li Lan Fang couldn’t wake her up. panicked, she and Xing Wu rushed her to the hospital. The doctor did everything he could, but because Grandma’s age and condition, he told Li Lan Fang and Xing Wu to prepare for hospice care. Grandma was dying.
At the ward, Grandma revealed that she had known that Xing Guo Dong was dead for years. She had only pretended not to know because she understood Li Lan Fang was trying to protect her considered her fragile health. Grandma passed away peacefully with Li Lan Fang and Xing Wu by her side, while watching the sun slowly set. Qing Ye wasn’t told about her death.
Li Lan Fang reunited with Qing Ye five years late. Qing Ye returned to Zhazhating to attend Shi Min and Fan Tong’s wedding. By then, Li Lan Fang had become a successful businesswoman. She had opened a Xuandao branch in Anzi County and has become a renowned hairstylist. She even changed her name into Lan Fang Lee, because she thought it sounded cooler.
Even so, Li Lan Fang still kept one styling chair at home for her neighbours in Zhazhating. She had also started livestreaming hairstyling content and had grown her audience to 50,000 followers. She was basically a famous influencer right now.
Things had changed in Zhazhating. Even though the scenery looked the same, but the people didn’t. Shi Min and Fan Tong had become teachers. Fan Tong taught at the high school where he, Xing Wu, and Qing Ye attended. Shi Min became an art teacher.
Mr. Zhu Feng was no longer a teacher either. He had been promoted to the school director. Cao Fan moved to Shenzhen to start a business. Ye Ying Jiang went abroad with Shu Han. And Huang Mao, who had always dreamed of becoming a truck driver, now owned both a business and a fleet of trucks.
After a business trip to Changdao, Qing Ye stayed in Xuandao for a few days. Li Lan Fang was thrilled to see her and give her a new hairstyle. Qing Ye loved it. Li Lan Fang proudly said that she had learned many new hairstyles because she needed to keep up with the trends.
Qing Ye then joked that if she ever got married, Li Lan Fang had to do her hair. The big smile on Li Lan Fang’s face faltered for a moment. She asked whether Qing Ye had a boyfriend, but Qing Ye only smiled.
Li Lan Fang didn’t push further. Instead, she took her phone and asked for a selfie. Then she secretly sent it to Xing Wu, who replied almost instantly that he had already booked the earliest flight for then next morning.
That night, Li Lan Fang, Qing Ye, Jin Shan Xi, and Ma Yu Fen enjoyed a hearty dinner together. Jin Shan Xi told them that she wanted to try livestream selling, and everyone cheered her on.
The next morning, Li Lan Fang left Qing Ye a note saying she had to work at the salon in Anzi County and would stay there that night. Surely, Li Lan Fang did it on purpose. She wanted to give Xing Wu and Qing Ye some time alone, wishing that they will be together at last.
So, did she already figure out that her son likes Qing Ye? Of Course! She had known it for a long time. That’s why Li Lan Fang was sooo thrilled when Xing Wu finally made their relationship public.
Still, Li Lan Fang couldn’t help worrying about the huge gap between their families. This time, though, Jin Shan Xi and Ma Yu Fen reassured her that Qing Ye and Xin Wu would be just fine. In the end, after all, their Xing Wu is handsome and has a bright future ahead. So, she really worried for nothing. And as a mother who believed in her son’s capability, Li Lan Fang decided to let things take their course and wish them well.
My Two cents
I was waiting for an emotional meltdown when Qing Ye and Xing Wu finally met again at the restaurant. The way they pretended not to know each other completely baffled me. But then Xing Wu introduced himself, and it finally clicked. He wasn’t introducing himself to Qing Ye as a stranger. He was introducing the version of himself he had promised to become. He was no longer the blonde-haired boy from a small town of Zhazhating, but someone who had finally caught up to her.
He wasn’t said, “Hello, I’m Xing Wu.” He was saying, “I made it.”
And with that, this drama ended happily. I’m so glad that everything worked out for them and they finally be together. And what do you think about this ending, dear readers?
