What Happened to He Wei Fang / Mu Dan on Flourished Peony Ending?
After being released from the military camp, Mu Dan’s status is that of Jiang Chang Yang’s servant. Li Xing came to visit her at home. He thought that Mu Dan was forced to be a servant. So he asked her to be his concubine to save her from the suffering (of becoming Jiang Chang Yang’s servant) 😆.
Suddenly, Liu Chang also appeared at her door and offered the same thing. He told Mu Dan that he would be her protector. Mu Dan got angry. None of the men asked her opinion before proposing to her. She beat Liu Chang and Li Xing to drive them away.
Liu Chang and Li Xing were soooo stupid and cocky. 😒
Mu Dan failed to buy the Fang Garden from Mr. Lv. She used the loan to open another flower shop, which attracted many people. Her business was booming. But Mu Dan was still upset about Qin Sheng Yi’s death. This made her realize that she was fortunate to survive and grateful that she had the opportunity to choose her path in life.
Mu Dan wrote a story about Qin Sheng Yi from a woman’s point of view. In her story, Qin divorced her husband and lived happily. It was Mu Dan’s hope that the story would be a source of encouragement for women out there in the same situation. She also vowed to run her business well so that others could see that women can do great things.
Li You Zhen still tried to harm Mu Dan. But her plan backfired and she was seriously injured. As a result of the incident, Mu Dan has a chance meeting with Consort Shu, who saves her. The two hit it off immediately. Mu Dan also used her knowledge of pharmacology to help Consort Shu, who didn’t like bitter medicine.
To save Mu Dan’s life from Prince Ning’s wrath, Jiang Chang Yang made her his concubine. She felt both grateful and sorry for him. Mu Dan thought it was a pity that Jiang Chang Yang had to sacrifice his marriage to save her life. The news of their marriage spread quickly.

The wedding went smoothly. Because of the flower incident, the guest was sent away and only her closest friends and confidants were present. Mu Dan never completed the newlywed ritual with Liu Chang in the bridal chamber. So she was a little nervous when she had to help Jiang Chang Yang take off his wedding robe.
When it came to the ritual of cutting a lock of hair and binding it, Mu Dan refused to cut her hair because her hair was not easy to grow. But Jiang Chang Yang did. He put his lock of hair in a pouch and gave it to her. He told Mu Dan that if she lost her hair during combing, she could put a few strands into the bag and it would be tied in a knot.
Mu Dan had no idea that Jiang Chang Yang was lying about the jade comb he gave her. He said it was a gift from his aunt. Chuan Yu told Da Fu and Xiao Chun that the comb was an heirloom left by Jiang Chang Yang’s late mother for her daughter in law. And how would they know what was going on in the bridal chamber? Mu Dan told Jiang that when he met his true love, she would write the divorce letter herself. She would never come between him and the love of his life.
Though Jiang was uncomfortable hearing this, he agreed with her. A feast on the marriage bed concludes the wedding night. It’s literally feasting. Mu Dan and Jiang Chang Yang eat and drink to their hearts’ content, for they are hungry 🤣🤣.
The next day, Jiang Chang Yang thought that Mu Dan was moving to Fang Garden. But it happened because he misunderstood what Zhu Fu said. In fact, Mu Dan has been very busy with her business in Fang Garden. Besides renovating, she also has to choose workers with the help of Mrs. Tang, who had worked in the garden for years.
The women Mrs. Tang chose were talented, but their lives as women were hard. Of course, Mu Dan would accept them and help them rebuild their lives, just as she had done with Qin Sheng Yi.
What Mu Dan didn’t know was that Jiang Chang Yang was worried and sad because she was going to move to the Fang Garden. He even wrote her a goodbye letter. The emperor was worried because Prince Ning was still difficult to deal with. Even after the Chen family case, he was untouchable. For Jiang Chang Yang, even though the country was in a terrible situation, he still had a bottom line. Mu Dan is one of them.
When the emperor mentioned his intention to make Mu Dan his confidant, Jiang Chang Yang immediately refused. He said that he didn’t want to put innocent people in danger. Jiang Chang Yang still blamed himself for Princess Shao Chang’s death.

Meanwhile, Mu Dan was busy with her Flower Garden renovation. Jiang Chang Yang was worried that she might move out of his residence and stay at Flower Garden. But he was worried for nothing because Mu Dan never intended to leave his residence.
Jiang Chang Yang slowly realized that his feelings for Mu Dan were growing deeper. When she passed out from exhaustion and cold, he genuinely worried about her. Although Mu Dan is still unaware of his sincere feelings and regarded him as her bosom friend, gradually her heart began to soften.
The days passed. His official and unofficial work keeps Jiang Chang Yang busy. Mu Dan is also busy preparing Fang Garden’s grand opening. Lian Zhou didn’t make any fuss at home. Even during the Spring Festival celebration, she joined the celebration in Mu Dan’s courtyard.
But just when everything seems to work out, another love rival arrives. Qin Liu Lang, Qing Sheng Yi’s younger brother, has come to show his feelings for Mu Dan.
What Happened to Liu Chang / Zi Shu on Flourished Peony Ending?
Liu Chang and his father, Liu Shen, went to see Prince Ning after the news of Li You Zhen’s infertility spread through the city. Surprisingly, the emperor calmly gave them an agreement of a matrilocal husband (meaning Liu Chang would marry into Li You Zhen’s family) and he was not allowed to take a concubine. He said that the incident with Li You Zhen was the direct result of Liu Chang’s fickleness.
Liu Chang tried to buy more time to decide. But his words made Prince Ning angry. It was the only way for him, or he would be sure to put an end to the Liu family bloodline. Liu Shen cowered and signed the agreement under Liu Chang’s disbelieving gaze.
Liu Chang’s proud face cracked when the Prince ordered his guard to break Liu Chang’s right foot. He said that Liu Chang’s pride and ambition need to be crushed. A broken leg would create a balanced situation between Liu Chang and Li You Zhen.
Later, Liu Chang was thrown into the dungeon. He decided to starve himself to death, but changed his mind after Prince Ning’s bodyguard came with a box of pastries. The man said that the prince had delivered wedding gifts and that Liu Chang’s parents were counting them happily.
The pastry was a gift from Mu Dan and Jiang Chang Yang, who will be getting married soon. The last thing he said to make Liu Chang stop the hunger strike was the taunt that Liu Chang was nothing compared to Jiang Chang Yang.
On the day of his wedding, Liu Chang got into the carriage with a grim look on his face. He had to walk with the help of a cane. Halfway, he saw Mu Dan and Jiang Chang Yang riding a horse. Mu Dan’s radiant smiles could be seen behind the veil.
Upon arriving at Prince Ning’s mansion, Liu Chang was forced to complete the ceremony with his injured leg. Afterwards, he was drunk after the feast. After he got married, Liu Chang had become a different kind of person. Now he became a sinister and vengeful man. He wasn’t afraid to talk back to his parents, and he was determined to cut all ties with them. As a farewell meal, he cooked Prince Ning’s dog and made food for Liu Chang’s parents. He said that his life was no better than the dog.

What Happened to Li You Zhen / Princess Ji’an on Flourished Peony Ending?
Li You Zhen was still jealous of Mu Dan. She ordered her men to arrest Mu Dan and take him to the polo field. The princess planned to have the horses trample on Mu Dan, but surprisingly, the horses refused to go near Mu Dan.
Out of anger, Li You Zhen stabbed her horse with a hairpin, and the horse reared up uncontrollably, causing Li You Zhen to fall off. Her abdomen was trampled by the horse, causing severe internal injuries. Because of this accident, Li You Zhen could not bear a child.
Prince Ning went to Jiang Chang Yang’s residence to punish Mu Dan, but he failed. However, in order to save Mu Dan, Jiang Chang Yang offered him an important official position. It was a good deal for Prince Ning.
When she found out that she was infertile, Li You Zhen was very frustrated. She was afraid that Liu Chang wouldn’t want to marry her or that he would take concubines in the future. Prince Ning reassured her. He said that as the husband of Li You Zhen, Liu Chang should share her joys and sorrows.
No matter what happened, Li You Zhen’s heart was fixed on Liu Chang. As a member of a royal family, she thought that her affection for Liu Chang would be the only pure thing left in her life.
Not knowing that Prince Ning was forcing Liu Chang to be her husband, Li You Zhen expected a happy marriage. But on the wedding day, she saw Liu Chang protecting a peony flower under his umbrella. He also complained about his suffering. Full of hatred, she said that peony and lotus were forbidden in the mansion.
My Two Cents
Although the business part was unreal, I understand that in this drama Mu Dan portrays a strong and independent woman. Something that was difficult to achieve at that time. When many women relied on their father, husband or son, Mu Dan stood out as someone who relied on herself.
Jiang Chang Yang recognizes this trait. In contrast to Liu Chang, who imposed his will on her, he had respect for Mu Dan’s personal choices and allowed her to be herself. That’s why he was the most suitable partner for her.
I was annoyed that this drama was turned into two seasons. The second season was rumored to be going to get much darker. Snippets of Season 2 made me eager to watch it. Now, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this wait will only be for a few months and not for a year. Anyway, now I have the urge to have a look at the novel.
