What Happened to Pei Qian on No Pain No Gain Ending?
While Zhao Mu Yan was playing Tengda’s new game, Divine Mountains and Seas, Pei Qian saw an opportunity to sabotage its market success. But although Pei Qian desperately wanted to increase his wealth, he hesitated when he saw how passionate and dedicated his Tengda team was to the game.
He didn’t want to disappoint them. So, he provided them with ample funding and support to promote the game. This promoted the whole Tengda ecosystem. This made the The whole business line thrive.
Due to his defeat, Zhao Mu Yan was kicked out of Fingle. His aggressive approach and violent temper eventually ended his career. At first, he didn’t accept it. He didn’t even know how he lost to Pei Qian.
So he went to Tengda to find out. There, he saw Pei Qian and his team leaving work with happy faces. They laughed and talked, looking very comfortable with each other.
Only then did he realize what had caused his loss. Nevertheless, Fingle was investigated for a series of misconduct, such as malicious commercial competition and spreading false information.
Two years later, Tengda was growing stronger. It experienced significant growth. The company was getting bigger, and more employees joined. Still, Pei Qian remained poor and worked as a designated driver to support himself.
Although he seemed to have a Midas touch, he was unlucky when it came to the company giveaway. He can’t even win a prize from his company, even though he really needs the money.
Pei Qian’s troubles began right after Tengda Games won the Company of the Year award. His name was Lawrence, or Sima Fu. He is Mr. Sima Ming’s fourth son. He is a handsome Chinese man with a Western style and many honorary titles. Everything about him screamed Western civilization.
Lawrence always wore a suit. He looked so proper and prim. He spoke mostly in English and preferred to be called Lawrence instead of Sima Fu. He asked everyone at Tengda to choose an English name so they could be more like a family.
Since the team members were too busy to choose a name that suited them best, they simply translated their names into English. For example, Huang Si Bo chose Yellow because Huang means yellow.
Lv Ming Liang chose Bright (Liang means bright), and Ma Yang chose Horse. However, Bao Xu said he should go with Ocean. Pei Qian chose Loss as his name. 🤣
Anyway…
Sima Fu was sent by his father to work with Pei Qian at Tengda to gain experience. He promised not to interfere with Tengda’s existing projects. However, he wanted to start a new business line. Pei Qian must cooperate, but he cannot interfere.
This new business line caused chaos in the company and torture for the employees. Fu wanted Bao Xu to come up with a complete game proposal within a week. The way he bosses people around is like the business version of Lu Zhi Yao, according to Huang Si Bo.
Shortly after, Lawrence had Ma Yang dress in an odd costume and hairstyle for a sales livestream called Ponytail Live, in which he promoted various items. The rest of the team was also tortured, and they soon screamed for Pei Qian’s help.
Knowing he couldn’t interfere, Pei Qian gave them the Fuhui Job-Security Survival Manual (he later changed the name to the Anti-Law (rence) Work Guide).
Following the manual, Slowly, the employees regained their lives. The Anti-Lawrence Work Guide made all the employees respect Pei Qian more.
After watching Ma Yang’s ponytail livestream, Pei Qian finally learned how dire the situation was. He told Ma Yang to tell viewers the truth about the product he was promoting. Ma Yang then began showing how poor the products were.
This essentially ended Tengda’s partnership with those unlicensed brands. Ma Yang publicly revealed the names of other brands that had reached out to them with hush money. Ma Yang was confident in his actions because he firmly believed that Pei Qian would support him.
Shortly after this, Lawrence’s career at Tengda ended. Still, he caused the company to suffer losses since his personal expenses were astronomical.
Did the trouble end? Not at all.
After Sima Fu came Sima Tu and Sima Sui. And just like when he met Sima Fu for the first time, Pei Qian also became their designated driver. Pei Qian didn’t want to deal with them either, but Mr. Sima was out of reach. Even Xin Hai Lu was unable to make contact with him.
The twins, Sima Tu and Sima Sui, were far from harmonious. Their characters were vastly different from each other. They were locked in constant rivalry. Their ideas and decisions almost always clashed. They were driving the employees crazy.
Each Tengda employee had one-on-one talks with Sima Tu during the day and group training with Sima Sui every night. Pei Qian worked hard to lighten their burden by replacing tree logs with drama props and heavy tires with bicycle tires. In the end, he shut down the training ground. However, they soon had to experience cross-department rotation.
Pei Qian’s team members began to speculate about the situation. Thanks to Ma Yang’s imagination, they believed that Pei Qian was the fifth Sima brother, and that they were all fighting over the inheritance. This made the whole team sympathize with “Pei Qian’s situation. 😂
All the Tengda employees were rotated. The entire Private Kitchen staff moved to the Game Department. Lu Wan was forced to sing at the M&Y Café. Xin Hai Lu became a front desk clerk, and Ma Yang became a drama screenwriter. Pei Qian? He ran around the world looking for Mr. Si Ma to stop the madness.
Ultimately, Sima Tu and Sima Sui fled the company after the financial report revealed the extent of the losses. Pei Qian was injured in an accident while trying to catch them and was sent to the hospital. That is how he found Mr. Sima.

Sima Wan is different from his foolish brothers. He is smart, cunning, calculating, and manipulative. He managed to influence Pei Qian during their first meeting.
Unlike his brothers, who were eager to take over Tengda, Sima Wan wanted Tengda to collapse. He hated that his father, Mr. Sima, regarded Pei Qian as his son and a competitor.
Sima Wan hated that his father used his sons as chess pawns. He wanted his father to realize his experiment was wrong. He wanted Tengda to collapse because of Pei Qian, so he offered to cooperate.
A month later, Pei Qian returned to the company. Everyone was excited to see him. Concerned by his gloomy demeanor, they asked him to go home, saying that his health was more important than the business. They told him not to worry about Tengda because they would take care of it for him.
Pei Qian felt conflicted. He asked Xin Hai Lu about the Mr. Sima’s agreement. She answered that Mr. Sima chose him himself and that he might think Pei Qian is not ordinary. The Fuhui Job-Security Survival Manual revealed all the existing problems in Fuhui.
However, Pei Qian felt that he had changed and was no longer the person he used to be, and he couldn’t take it anymore. That night, he called Sima Wan regarding their partnership.
The next day, Pei Qian gathered his employees and told them he was shutting down all of Tengd’s businesses for personal reasons. His friends ran to him, asking what was going on.
Pei Qian reassured them that the finance department would make arrangements for them. Ma Yang and the others refused to accept this. They demanded an explanation.
Then, Pei Qian burst out. He told them that he wasn’t who they thought he was. He hadn’t held on for the sake of the company. He also admitted to making them do things they didn’t want to and playing them like a game. Even though he said painful things, Pei Qian hurt the most.
So, the whole company is packing up. Those who used to keep it alive started leaving one by one, leaving only empty spaces and broken hearts behind. Ma Yang was the last to leave. Pei Qian arranged for all the remaining funds to be moved to each Tengda employee.
Huang Si Bo started working at another company, and Bao Xu returned to his old lifestyle, just like Lv Ming Liang. The rest of the employees worked at Ma Yang’s fruit shop. Lin Wan stayed home. Pei Qian is scrolling through his gallery and his friends’ Moments.
Pei Qian went to the now-empty Tengda. He logged in to the server, thinking it would be his last. His journey through the game world reminded him of Tengda. From the Lonely Road to the DreamForge capital. He could see his footprints there. He also found a message left for him.
In the video were his team members. They had recorded it on the rooftop of a building while suffering at the hands of the Sima twins. They encouraged Pei Qian to hang in there because they knew he was fighting to save the company. They also told him not to worry about them.
Lv Ming Liang said that Tengda and Pei Qian are the best company and boss in the world. Though shy, Lin Wan said that the game could be a shelter from the storm. A utopia. For her, Pei Qian is the shelter and the utopia.
According to the upgraded version of the game made by his friends, Pei Qian is the lighthouse that guides lost travellers. The Guardian of Light.
Pei Qian felt something change inside. He went to see Sima Wan. At first, Sima Wan was surprised when Pei Qian returned the card and terminated the contract unilaterally.
Sima Wan mocked Pei Qian for having a change of heart and for his attachment to Tengda and its people. Pei Qian told Sima Wan that he and people like Sima Wan are not and will never be the same kind of people.
Pei Qian then went to see Xin Hai Lu. He wanted to rebuild Tengda and asked her to return. However, because he had run out of funds, Pei Qian took desperate action. He sold his Mingri apartment. Surprisingly, the buyer was none other than Li Shi.
Li Shi said he figured out that Tengda was in trouble. Therefore, he offered to help by buying the apartment. He promised that when things got better, he would return the apartment to Pei Qian unscathed. In the meantime, he planned to occupy the apartment himself and take in all Pei Qian’s spirits.
Pei Qian’s dream of providing his parents with a nice apartment was shattered once again. However, he was determined. He worked alone to bring the Divine Mountains and Seas back online. Then, he gathered his entire team one by one. He apologized to each of them personally.
The hardest people to face were surely Ma Yang and Lin Wan. At Ma Yang’s shop, he found the remaining employees taking shelter inside. At first, Ma Yang was angry with him. However, it turned out that he had been waiting a long time for Pei Qian.
Lin Wan was last. She blocked Pei Qian’s number. He had to think of a way to reach her. However, Lin Wan also wanted to see him, so she pretended to go for a jog. With his less fit body, Pei Qian struggled to chase her.
He apologized to her and admitted that, at first, he had treated Tengda like a game. He never really put his heart into it. It was only after meeting her that Pei Qian realized that even if Tengda is a game, he should treat it seriously.
So, Pei Qian rebuilt Tengda, and this time, he also owned the company. He gathered all the employees, and they had one additional member: Li Shi. They reopened the M&Y Internet café and the rest of Tengda’s businesses.
Mr. Sima had recovered. He came to Tengda and offered to renew the agreement. This time, Pei Qian would be the primary beneficiary if Tengda made a profit. het old Pei Qian thought it over.
After so many things had happened, Pei Qian finally felt genuinely happy. He was still upset that his parents had missed their chance to live in the Mingri Apartments. His sons, Sima Wan, Sima Tu, Sima Sui, and Sima Fu, became joint CEOs. Over the past couple of years, Jinghong’s profits have declined significantly. The only good thing Mr. Sima did was invest in Tengda.
However, Tengda announced that it would operate independently under Pei Qian’s leadership as the new chairman. Pei Qian owns 51% of Tengda’s shares. The remaining 49% belong to Tengda’s employees.
Tengda has moved into a bigger building, leaving the old one empty. Employees now have ample space to work. The Divine Mountains and Seas won so many trophies that they ran out of places to put them.
In the end, Pei Qian quietly returned to Tengda. His friends were happy he returned. Seeing their enthusiasm, the gloom on his face faded.
Later, Pei Qian was seen sitting in a café. He registered on Zhongdian Web Fiction and started his own novel titled Losing Money to Be a Tycoon.
What Happened with Mr. Sima Ming on No Pain No Gain Ending?
The old Mr. Sima was a cunning man. He always had an ulterior motive when he approached Pei Qian. He was not the only one, though. There were others before and after him. However, Pei Qian stood out the most. Therefore, Mr. Sima thinks highly of him.
He told his four sons that if any of them want to take over Jinghong, they must understand Tengda clearly. They must manage Tengda because it is the key to saving Jinghong.
Pei Qian learned the whole truth from Sima Wan. There were many similar contracts on Mr. Si Ma’s private jet, meaning Pei Qian was not the only person offered the agreement.
Actually, Mr. Sima had long recovered from his illness. However, he remained on the sidelines to watch Pei Qian teach his sons a lesson. He promised that they would not bother Tengda again and had already sent them all abroad.
Pei Qian sneered, acknowledging that Sima Wan’s words were true. Mr. Sima only regarded his sons as chess pieces.
Mr. Sima offered to renew the agreement. This time, whenever Tengda made a profit, Pei Qian would be a beneficiary. Although he seemed polite and relaxed, Pei Qian was overwhelmed with emotion when he heard that.
Pei Qian guessed that the old man wanted to move him to a bigger chessboard. However, that would mean he would still be under Mr. Sima’s control.
Pei Qian went to Mr. Sima’s mansion. But the luxurious house had lost its lustre. Mr. Sima was waiting for him and was optimistic that Pei Qian would accept his offer. He promised that Pei Qian only needed to lead the team and do solid work at Tengda.
He wouldn’t need to worry about losing money. The old man continued, saying that he believed Tengda would expand into more fields and create more value under Pei Qian’s leadership.
Mr. Sima thought he had managed to persuade Pei Qian. He never thought he would reject the offer. Pei Qian said that the path the old man laid out for him is not the path he wants to walk.
As for how things will continue, Pei Qian said that Mr. Sima must listen to him. Pei Qian’s condition is that Tengda must operate independently. Only then will Tengda never lose its integrity or turn into Jinghong.
Disappointment and disbelief were written all over Mr. Sima’s face. Pei Qian told Mr. Sima that Tengda’s greatest assets were its people, not its wealth. Pei Qian didn’t want to become another Mr. Sima.
On the ending, before leaving the house, Pei Qian taught the old man to start caring for others. He shut off the faucet that had been making the people under the building suffer from “fake rain.” Mr. Sima stood behind his window. He stared at the young man as he walked away.
My Two Cents
Actually, I was quite confused about Mr. Sima at first. From what I understand, he wanted Tengda to eventually fall under Jinghong so that Pei Qian could inherit the chairman position in the future. In his eyes, Pei Qian was the perfect candidate for that position.
In other words, the old man wanted to groom a leader. However, the way he went about it was rather cunning. Knowing his sons lacked talent, he made Pei Qian his experiment.
If Pei Qian succeeded, the old man could bring him into Jinghong as a shortcut to securing a capable successor. In the end, Tengda was merely a stepping stone to save Jinghong. This is what made Pei Qian angry.
