The First Frost Ending Explained
What Happened to Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan/Shuang Jiang/Dian Dian on The First Frost Ending?
Wen Yi Fan returned to Nanwu and resumed living with Sang Yan. One day, her boss, Ms. Qian, called, and the entire team was sent on a business trip to Beiyu. There, they investigated a cold case involving a missing high school girl from years ago.
Recently, a woman had brought a recording to the police station that could potentially be linked to the case. The police had conducted a search for the body and were tracking down the suspect.
When Wen Yi Fan learned that the woman who reported the case was the suspect’s niece-in-law, a sense of unease washed over her.
The woman’s identity is Zheng Yi. She is still connected to Wen Yi Fan because she is Wen Ming’s wife and Che Yan Qin’s daughter-in-law. Wen Yi Fan told Zheng Yi that she had gone through the same thing.

Only then did Zheng Yi talk to Wen Yi Fan about that night. She had been home alone when Che Xing De approached her with ill intention, but it failed, escalating into a murder attempt. Chen Yan Qin arrived and saved her.
Zheng Yi’s heart went cold when Che Yan Qin told her not to call the police. She explained that Che Xing De always acted this way when drunk, but Zheng Yi knew he was sober. Che Yan Qin then put her in the bedroom and went out to argue with Che Xing De.
Zheng Yi listened quietly, and when they mentioned a dead girl, she secretly recorded their conversation. Shocked, she learned that Che Xing De had killed a girl and that Che Yan Qin had helped bury the body.
At that moment, Zheng Yi knew she had to call the police, or she might be the next one who died. Later, she took the recording to the police. Che Yan Qin was arrested, but Che Xing De remained on the run.
The missing girl was Wen Yi Fan’s high school friend, Guo Ling, a quiet girl who had once helped her and lived in the same building. Before returning to Nanwu, Wen Yi Fan visited Guo Ling’s father, who was still grieving his daughter’s death.

Wen Yi Fan shared the case with Sang Yan. She told him she was worried that Che Xing De might came after him. Later, when Sang Yan went to pick Wen Yi Fan up at the TV station, he saw Che Xing De lurking around the building.
Sang Yan called the police but couldn’t stop himself from confronting Che Xing De. The two fought fiercely, with Che Xing De using a knife. Sang Yan got injured in the struggle. The police arrived just in time to arrest Che Xing De, while Sang Yan was rushed to the hospital. Wen Yi Fan, hearing about the incident from a stranger who answered Sang Yan’s phone, hurried to the hospital to find him.
Fortunately, Sang Yan was fine. The wound wasn’t fatal, and he was discharged the same day. He had started the fight with Che Xing De because of his regret for not protecting Wen Yi Fan in the past. Now, he was determined to protect her from Che Xing De and help her break free from the pain and despair she had kept hidden for so long.
Che Xing De and Che Yan Qin were put on trial, where they confessed to their crimes. Che Xing De was charged with murder, rape, and sexual assault, and was sentenced to death. Che Yan Qin was convicted of destroying and falsifying evidence, receiving a three-year prison sentence.
Finally, Wen Yi Fan had the justice she deserved. Guo Ling’s father called to thank her for bringing justice to his daughter and family. In that moment, Wen Yi Fan realized that she truly loved being a journalist.
After the case ended, Wen Yi Fan’s mother visited her at work. Wen Yi Fan felt uncomfortable with her mother’s presence. Zhao Yuan Dong tried to start a conversation, but all she said was, “I never thought Che Xing De would turn out to be like that,” and “Did he do anything to hurt you?”
Her words left Wen Yi Fan disappointed. Her mother was still as selfish as ever. Back then, Zhao Yuan Dong had abandoned Wen Yi Fan when she needed her protection the most. Now, she is crying in front of Wen Yi Fan, claiming she hadn’t paid enough attention to her.
Zhao Yuan Dong is a hypocritical mother. Her crying and regret seemed like nothing more than an attempt to avoid responsibility. In reality, it all felt insincere and showed that she never truly cared about Wen Yi Fan’s pain.🤬
Wen Yi Fan told Zhao Yuan Dong that she had never really been hurt by how her Uncle Wen’s family treated her. They had no obligation to be kind to her, and it was always Zhao Yuan Dong’s selfishness, driven by her desire to prioritize her new family, that caused her pain.
And now, Zhao Yuan Dong’s new husband was cheating on her. Zheng Ke Jia urged Wen Yi Fan to return home and support her mother. But, of course, Wen Yi Fan refused. Karma had finally caught up. Now Zhao Yuan Dong understood the true pain of being abandoned.
Wen Yi Fan told her mother that, from that day forward, she would delete all of Zhao Yuan Dong’s contact information. She should remember that, on that night with Che Xing De, her daughter had already been “killed.” As Wen Yi Fan walked away, not looking back, Zhao Yuan Dong broke down in tears. And that was the end of their mother-daughter story.
Thanks to the news station, Wen Yi Fan was able to perform ballet on stage again. At the year-end party, she was chosen as First News team’s representative. She was anxious, and Sang Yan almost didn’t make it due to an urgent matter at his office. But he managed to arrive just in time. The performance left him in awe. Later that night, Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan shared an intimate moment together for the first time.

Sang Yan took Wen Yi Fan to meet his parents on New Year’s Day. Nervous, Wen Yi Fan made many preparations, even writing outlines to help calm her nerves.
The Sangs welcomed her warmly. As she watched Sang Yan interact with his parents, Wen Yi Fan couldn’t help but think how lucky he was to have such a loving family. She thought that if he hadn’t met her, he could have lived a peaceful life.
Sang Zhi, who overheard her mumbling, quickly disagreed. She pointed out that if Sang Yan hadn’t met Wen Yi Fan, a struggling student like him would never have made it into Nanwu University. It was only because Wen Yi Fan had encouraged him that he had come this far.
Sang Zhi told Wen Yi Fan that Sang Yan was devastated when he lost Wen Yi Fan. But Sang Zhi thought it was a good experience for her brother. Sang Yan had always been smart and good at everything since childhood. He was always so arrogant and full of himself. But when he was heartbroken, Sang Yan realized that the world didn’t revolve around him. It was then that he began to get closer to his family.
The family dinner was filled with happiness. Wen Yi Fan was surprised when Mrs. Sang handed her a red envelope and said that from that day on, Wen Yi Fan was part of the family. The warm feeling of having a family that loved her flooded her heart.
A few days later, Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan were packing to move to a new house. While sorting through their things, Wen Yi Fan found a tin box filled with Sang Yan’s mementos of her.
There were tickets from and to Yihe, showing that Sang Yan had often traveled there to see her during college. He had even kept the first article she wrote as an intern, along with other pieces she had written. As the truth came out, Wen Yi Fan felt a deep regret for how she had treated him back then.
And as if that was the time to unravel every secret, with a sheepish smile, Wen Yi Fan confessed that she had once taken advantage of Sang Yan by pretending to sleepwalk and hug him. 😅

Sang Yan, Wen Yi Fan, Zhong Si Qiao and Su Hao An attended the 100th anniversary celebration of Nanwu No. 1 High School. They took many pictures, visited their old classrooms, and reminisced about the first time they met in school.
But not all the memories were good. There was also the time when Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan were called to the school office because of rumors about their relationship.
At that time, Chen Ya Qin even insulted Sang Yan’s parents and made Wen Yi Fan feel embarrassed. Fortunately, Sang Yan’s parents were kind, and Sang Yan didn’t break off their friendship, and continued to help her with her dancing hobby.
Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan then visited their old classroom. Feeling relaxed, Wen Yi Fan fell asleep at her desk. When she woke up, she saw Sang Yan in their high school uniform, with a “Marry Me” message and a poem written on the blackboard.
Zhong Si Qiao and Su Hao An were also there, dressed in the same uniform, witnessing the proposal. Sang Yan had prepared a video featuring messages from their teacher, family, and friends, all wishing them happiness.
The sweet moment wrapped up with Sang Yan proposing to Wen Yi Fan with a ribbon-shaped ring. He promised that after she married him, all her wishes would come true. As they began to kiss, Sang Yan signaled for Su Hao An and Zhong Si Qiao to go away and leave them alone, which they happily did.
There were many flashbacks in the final episodes.
Sang Yan had spotted Wen Yi Fan the moment she entered the school gate. Wanting to catch her attention, he pretended to play with a ball and deliberately gave her the wrong directions, only to follow her afterward.
Later, when Wen Yi Fan first walked into Overtime, Sang Yan recognized her immediately, even before she entered the bar and noticed him. The bracelet that belonged to Zhong Si Qiao was with him. When Wen Yi Fan came to claim it, he discreetly placed it in the lost and found box, though not as discreetly as he thought, since one of his employees had seen him. 😁
What Happened to Zhong Si Qiao and Su Hao An on The First Frost Ending?
Su Hao An took his grandparents and Zhong Si Qiao, on a six-hour ride to a distant place. Upon arrival, Jiang Ru, Su Hao An’s grandmother, called him and pointed out a spot where his parents had died in an accident.
At the time, Su Hao An was too young to understand the truth. His grandparents thought keeping it from him was for the best, but they never imagined that Su Hao An would grow up blaming himself, thinking he deserved to be abandoned. Jiang Ru reassured Su Hao An that his parents loved him as much as they loved his brother.

This could be seen in his name: Su Hao An. His parents gave him parts of their own names, Hao from his father’s name Hao Yang and An from his mother’s name Jia An.
I never knew that Su Hao An had a deceased brother… when did I miss it? 😱
Knowing the truth resolved all the loneliness and emptiness in Su Hao An’s heart. He promised his parents and brother that he would continue to live his life with confidence and take care of his grandparents. Suddenly, Su Hao chimed in and said that Su Hao An didn’t need to worry about him and his grandmother. Jiang Ru and Su Hao decided to go on a trip together.
Zhong Si Qiao and Su Hao An announce their relationship when they attend the 100th anniversary celebration of Nanwu No. 1 High School. Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan teased them when they saw them holding hands. Su Hao An whispered to Sang Yan that he was still on probation 😆.
My Two Cents
Okay, I take back what I said in my The First Frost drama review, I mentioned that I wasn’t fully satisfied with the ending because we didn’t get to see Che Xing De and Che Yan Qin being taken away by the police, interrogated, or facing consequences in jail (I guess I watch too many police dramas 😂).
But honestly, what truly gave me closure was seeing Wen Yi Fan decide to walk away from her mother. It felt so much more satisfying than watching the Che siblings face retribution. Zhao Yuan Dong absolutely deserved to be abandoned by her daughter.
Wen Yi Fan has endured enough from toxic relatives. She should stay away from them. Wen Yi Fan deserved to be surrounded by good people who genuinely care for her, even if they weren’t family by blood.
Still, I couldn’t help but frown when Sang Yan visited the Wen family’s house. Wen Yi Fan had been gone for years, but they still kept her bed there, and oddly enough, Sang Yan found her math paper on the table.
It should’ve been yellowed and covered in dust by now, but everything in the room seemed to be in perfect condition. Given how miserly the Wen family is, they should’ve used that space right away, never expecting Wen Yi Fan to come back. But of course, if Sang Yan had gone there and not found a single trace of Wen Yi Fan, the story would have played out very differently… 😁
