What Happened to Ye Li and Mo Xiu Yao on The First Jasmine Ending?
Ye Li finally obtained the edict from Consort Dowager Qin Feng and presented it before the monarchs and the court. They were stunned to learned that Mo Xiu Wen and the Heiyun Cavalry were legally entered the capital under the late emperor’s order to protect the throne.
But no one was more shocked than Marquis Muyang and Empress Dowager Guo Jin. They had believed the edict was destroyed long ago. with the truth finally revealed, Mo Xiu Wen and Heiyun Cavalry were cleared of all accusation, while Marquis Muyang was thrown into prison.
Although Ye Li had done Mo Xiu Yao a favor, she knew it was only a matter of time before Mo Xiu Yao learned the truth. The day came when Marquis Muyang revealed that Xu Wan Zhou (Ye Li’s mother) had been involved in the missing edict.
Heartbroken, Mo Xiu Yao believed that Xu Wan Zhouhad tricked Mo Xiu Wen into handing it over. Little did he know that Xu Wan Zhou had also been deceived by Guo Jin. Torn between love and resentment, Mo Xiu Yao buried himself in work for days, leaving Ye Li increasingly anxious.
And when he finally returned home, he handed Ye Li a divorce letter. He told her that the debt had been repaid but he cannot accept a love born out of charity. Ye Li was devastated.
That night, Ye Li’s hallucinations returned. She quietly left the Mo residence with nothing but the wind chime, leaving behind a letter for Mo Xiu Yao before returning to Lishan Mountain.
After she left, Mo Xiu Yao’s misery only deepened. One night, he returned home drunk and wandered into Ye Li’s room. He accidentally knocked over the box where Ye Li kept her letters. In the morning, after the alcohol has worn off, Mo Xiu Yao checked the letters.
Confused because the letters had never been sent, Mo Xiu Yao went to Li Fei Bai. Seeing the letters, Li Fei Bai got angry. He accused that Mo Xiu Yao had forgotten his promise and driven Ye Li back to the desolate mountain.
Only then did Mo Xiu Yao learn the whole truth. Overwhelmed with guilt, his hair turned gray overnight. He asked the emperor to relieve him from his duties and grant him permission to enter Lishan Mountain.
Mo Xiu Yao claimed he had quarrelled with Ye Li and wanted to bring her home. Wary of his intention, Guo Jin also sent Shun Xi to accompany Mo Xiu Yao under the pretense of delivering gifts from the emperor.
When they arrived, Lishan Academy looked as though it had been abandoned for years. Mo Xiu Yao found Ye Li was sorting books in the library. Seeing him, the first thing she asked was why his hair had turned gray. Unable to hold back any longer, he embraced her and begged for forgiveness.
Only after he stepped into her shabby room, Mo Xiu Yao realized how she had endured unimaginable hardships alone. He admitted that old grudge had nothing to do with her and that he should never taken them out on her.
Meanwhile, believing that the members of Lishan Academy have run away, Shun Xi hurried back to the palace to report his findings. As Mo Xiu Yao has anticipated, he also sent A Jin to deliver a letter straight to the emperor while he stayed to accompany Ye Li.
The next morning, Ye Li had forgotten everything that happened the day before. Mo Xiu Yao realized how seriously ill she was. As he looked around, Mo Xiu Yao found a man-made wheelchair, acupuncture needles, and wooden leg models.
He then understood that Ye Li’s determination to heal his legs had never been a spur-of-the-moment idea. It had taken years of preparation. Only then did Mo Xiu Yao realized how badly he had wronged her.
To avoid causing Ye Li another shock, Mo Xiu Yao pretended he could also see the people around her. When she invited him on a welcoming dinner with those invisible people, he solemnly promised before them to treat her well and never let her be alone. It was the sincerest vow he ever made.
Knowing that the envoy would arrive soon, Mo Xiu Yao slowly prepared Ye Li to face the truth. Together they went to the back of the mountain. They must cross the bridge with monkey statues. Ye Li saw the monkey was alive, but as soon as she stepped into the bridge, they vanished. And the moment she saw the graves, all her memories came flooding back.
Years ago, an outbreak swept through Lishan Academy. Master He Lai tried to save everyone, but they already run out of food, water, and medicinal herbs. As Xu Qing Yun lay dying, Ye Li tried to seek help from the imperial guards at the foot of the mountain. Her seniors stopped her just before she reached the gate.
They locked her inside the room and told her that Lishan Academy had chosen to uphold justice against Guo Jin. Asking for help would mean surrendering to the rebels and staining Xu Qing Yun’s lifelong reputation. By the time Ye Li escaped, everyone was already dead.
Ye Li dragged all 47 bodies to the back of the mountain, dug every grave, carved each wooden marker, and buried them one by one. She believed that she would die too, so she prepared one for her. But time goes by and she still alive.
The trauma was so overwhelming that she began hallucinating soon after. It was her grandfather’s illusion that forbade her to go to the back of the mountain, warning her that the monkeys were dangerous.
Gongsun Yang arrived and sent the guard to inspect the graveyard behind the mountain. Meanwhile, after finishing the compilation work left behind by her seniors, Ye Li returned to the Mo Residence with Mo Xiu Yao.
The revelation shocked the entire court. In a short time, people were calling the Lishan Academy tragedy a man-made disaster. The officials urged the emperor to seize the opportunity to reclaim power from Guo Jin.
Mo Yan Qi later restored the name of Lishan Academy and its scholars. Wei Zhuang was appointed to an official post. Shende Shop got a new steward, the handsome Tang Zi Xiao, who quickly become the source of Mo Xiu Yao’s jealousy.
Important news came from Suixue Pass. The army commander, General Xiong Yi Song was assassinated. Gongsun Yang recommended Mo Xiu Yao as the new commander. But this caused an uproar at the court.
Wen Ran came up with an idea. Knowing that Mo Xiu Yao had to leave to the battlefield, she secretly slipped an aphrodisiac into his soup, hoping the couple would finally consummate their marriage. she believed that if Ye Li had a child, she would have someone to rely on should anything happen to Mo Xiu Yao.
Thanks to Ye Li’s persuasion, the couple spent the night together to ease the drug’s effect. Ye Li understood Wen Ran’s intention and Mo Xiu Yao, in the end, accepted her reasons. No one could really blame Wen Ran. She just trying to help Ye Li.
Even so, many officials opposed Mo Xiu Yao’s appointment, including a minister named Li Duo. They all thought that it was dangerous to give a military power to someone who hold grudges against the royal family and the court.
Li Duo volunteered to be the commander at Suixue Pass and the emperor agreed. Not long after, Feng Zhi Yao returned to the capital with a shocking news. Li Duo was a spy, and Mo Jing Li was currently marching his army to the capital.
Mo Xiu Yao immediately volunteered to lead the army to quell the rebels. Before departing, he dyed his hair black. Once again Mo Xiu Yao looked like the unrivalled general he used to be.
Things quickly spiralled out of control when Luoxia Pass fell, the emperor panicked. Deep down, he had never truly trusted Mo Xiu Yao and feared he might betray the throne. Gongsun yang bluntly pointed that out making the emperor speechless. As the rumours of Mo Xiu Yao’s betrayal spread in the city, Guo Jin invited Ye Li to stay at the palace.
To everyone else, she was an honoured guest. In reality, Ye Li was held hostage. She was only allowed to leave the palace after Mo Xiu Yao’s victory turned the tide against Mo Jing Li. Rewards from the emperor flooded the mansion. Mo Xiu Yao, Ye Li, Wen Ran, and even Mo Wu You were all receive imperial honors.
When Mo Jing Li launched his last stage of his rebellion, Mo Xiu Yao reached the city gates earlier than expected but couldn’t enter without an imperial edict. Inside the palace, Mo Jing Li had already fought Duke Hua. The old general was no match for him and nearly lost his life after killing Sui Xin. At the last moment, Ye Li stepped in to stop Mo Jing Li.
The two fought fiercely. Still, Mo Jing Li couldn’t bring himself to kill Ye Li. But after she refused to stay back, he had no choice to strike her down. before he could, Mo Xiu Yao and his elite troops arrived. surrounded by archers, Mo Jing Li died with countless arrows piercing his back like a porcupine.
Five months later, peace finally returned to the capital. Mo Xiu Yao returned to the Suixue Pass to deal with the remaining rebels. To keep Ye Li from being lonely, Wen Ran dragged Ye Li from one gathering to another. Instead of being happy, Ye Li felt that she couldn’t fit in with the capital’s noblewomen. Then she had an idea to travel to Suixue Pass herself.
Faraway in the frontier, Mo Xiu Yao also missed her just as much. Still, he was shocked to see his wife rode alone to find him. Although he scolded Ye Li for making such a dangerous journey, he couldn’t hide how happy he was to see her standing beside him.
After Guo Jin’s death and punishment, the emperor reopened Lishan Academy. Men and women enthusiastically entered the mountain to study at the prestigious academy. Wei Zhuang was appointed as the new headmasters. Many former students returned as teachers, and even Yun Song came back to teach painting and calligraphy.
At the academy, Ye Li entered her grandfather’s room where all the people in her mind appeared one last time. In the end, Xu Qing Yun told his granddaughter not to remain trapped in the past because she still had a future ahead of her. At last, Ye Li made peace with her grief. The illusion quietly disappeared, leaving the room empty. But outside, a young man was waiting to take her hand and never let it go.
What Happened to Mo Jing Li and Ye Ying on The First Jasmine Ending?
Mo Jing Li was the one behind Princess Ling Yun’s death, even thought it was Su Zui Die who stabbed her. His goal was to incite a war between Dachu and Cangbei.
Although Ye Li know that Mo Jing Li faked his death, Ye Ying was oblivious about it. She was still devastated by his death. However, after learning what Ye Li had gone through at Lishan Mountain, Ye Ying became much more considerate and kinder towards her.
To seize the military power at Suixui Pass, Mo Jing Li killed General Xiong Yi Song. His original plan was to begin the rebellion after his accomplice, Li Duo, became the commander. But after the Han brothers betrayed him and Feng Zhi Yao brought the news to the capital, he was forced to act early. Mo Jing Li gathered his 42,000 soldiers and marched toward the capital.
Because of the rebellion, Ye Ying had to leave the Prince Li’s mansion. Ye Li planned to send her away for safety, but Ye Ying insisted on finding Mo Jing Li instead. She knew it would be a dangerous journey, but she never wavered.
Meanwhile, things didn’t go as planned for Mo Jing Li. His main army suffered from defeat. Li Duo was forced to take his own life, and Mo Xiu Yao hunt him down. It was then that Ye Ying found him. Seeing his wife run toward him in tears, Mo Jing Li finally realized her feelings had always been genuine.
He took Ye Ying to Qingshi, his mother’s hometown. Mo Jing Li opened up about his childhood. Xu Qing Yun had once rejected him as a disciple because he could see Mo Jing Li’s ambition to use Lishan Academy for political gain.
And that’s why he sought an arranged marriage with Ye Li instead. His father, the Crown Prince, easily approve the marriage because at that time he was in the middle of life and death battle with Guo Jin. Having Lishan Academy as his backing would be a tremendous help.
Mo Jing Li also admitted that he really fell in love with Ye Li. And although it hurt to hear him talking about the woman he loved, Ye Ying was glad he finally opened his heart.
Ye Ying begged him to stay in Qingshi so they could live ordinary lives together. But Mo Jing Li refused. He ordered his men to restrain her before telling her that he had let her down. If fate allowed, they might meet again. If not, he hoped she would live well.
Mo Jing Li entered the capital during the Lantern Festival, planning to burn the city down. Only his attendant, Qing Bao, begged him to stop and live peacefully. Instead, Mo Jing Li entrusted Ye Ying to Qing Bai before he headed for the palace.
After fighting his way to the palace, Mo Jing Li was stopped by Duke Hua. They fought and he almost won before Ye Li appeared. Seeing her point a sword at him left him stunned. Ye Li was the last person Mo Jing Li wanted to hurt. He told Ye Li he couldn’t turn back anymore. But when she refused to move aside, Mo Jing Li knew he had no choice.
At the end, before he could strike, Mo Xiu Yao arrived with his elite troops. Surrounded by archers, Mo Jing Li still refused to surrender. He died with arrows piercing his back. as his life fade away, Mo Jing Li looked at Ye Li one last time and silently wondered whether he had done wrong.
After the world back in peace, Ye Ying stayed at Qingshi. She plant flowers like she promised to Mo Jing Li.
What Happened to Guo Jin / The Empress Dowager on The First Jasmine Ending?
When Shun Xi returned from Lishan Mountain, he told Guo Jin that it the people of Lishan Academy had run away. The entire academy had been abandoned for years.
Gongsung Yang didn’t believe the report because Xu Qing Yun was not the kind of person who would do that. The answer came when the emperor rushed into the hall with a letter from Mo Xiu Yao. It stated that evert member of Lishan Academy, except Ye Li, had died from illness years ago.
Guo Jin immediately dispatch Gongsun Yan to investigate under the emperor’s order. He discovered that three years after the mountain was sealed off, Lishan Academy was struck by disease. They run out of food, water, and medicinal herbs.
But despite the desperate situation, they still upheld the justice until the very end. The news about Lishan Academy sparked public outrage. Especially those who knew the real reasons why the Lishan Academy is closing its doors. They also believed that tragedy was man-made and openly accused the Guo Jin of usurped the power.
The officials urged Guo Jin to return the power back to Mo Yan Qi. The emperor found a good excuse of her being sick and need to recuperate. With the court backing him, Guo Jin has no choice but to accept.
Soon after, Guo Jin began having nightmares. Xu Wan Zhou confronted her for ordering her to retrieve the late emperor’s edict from Mo Xiu Wen. She promised to save him, and Xu Wan Zhou believed it.
But then Guo Jin also ordered Marquis Muyang to burn the Eastern Palace, framed Mo Xiu Wen and the Heiyun Cavalry, sealed off Lishan Mountain, and eliminated everyone who stood in her way. Now she was finally reaping what she had sown. Even her son turned against her.
As one of the students of Lishan Academy, Guo Jin was brimming with talent. She dreamed of becoming someone important. A woman who stands firmly as any man and leaving her mark on the world. But then living in the palace changed her. Guo Jin determined that if the world refused to let women hold power, she would rewrite the rules herself. Even if it meant river of blood beneath her feet.
When news of Mo Jing Li’s revolt reached the capital, Guo Jin returned to the palace. But the relationship with her son quickly collapsed after he overheard a conversation between Guo Jin and Duke Hua.
Mo yan Qi learned that his mother had ordered the siege of Lishan Mountain, causing the death of 47 members of Lishan Academy. She had also been involved in the Eastern Palace fire and the missing imperial edict. From then on, Mo Yan Qi kept his distance from Guo Jin. He kept his stance even during Mo Jing Li’s rebellion.
Regrets slowly consumed Guo Jin and she soon fell gravely ill. In a short time, she lost all her splendour. However, the emperor hasn’t issued any formal decree about her punishment. Ye Li told the Duke Hua that they should remain patient. The emperor needs some time to face the conflict between his mother and the justice.
Knowing her end was near, Guo Jin summoned Ye Li to the Anqing Palace. After dismissing Shun Xi, Guo Jin asked whether Ye Li had anything to say. Ye Li replied that she had nothing to say to her.
Guo Jin then asked whether Ye Li wanted to seek justice for her mother. Ye Li calmly answered that after leaving the mountain, she had sworn to eliminate four people, and Guo Jin was the last one. She had many chances while staying at Anqing Palace. but killing Guo Jin inside the palace would only cost her own life. It wasn’t worth it.
Guo Jin wanted to know how her ruling was compared to the late emperor. During her reign, she built roads and waterways, lowered taxes, and established school for women. Ye LI replied that her grandfather had once said Guo Jin possessed talent but lacked benevolence. She was praised by officials yet cursed by the people. Guo Jin refused the judgement. She said that Headmaster Xu was pedantic.
Ye Li explained that to built roads, officials had seized farmland and driven people from their homes. According to Lishan Academy teachings, there had always been other ways. Guo Jin simply chose the fastest because she never cared who had to be sacrificed for her “greater good”.
Just like when she sacrificed the Heiyun Cavalry and the Eastern Palace to seize power. The prosperous era she had seek was merely an obsession to prove she deserved the throne.
Hearing the words, Guo Jin’s breath hitched. Once again, she asked why Ye Li had never killed her. Ye Li answered that the law would deliver a fair judgment. With that, she paid her respect to left. Moments later, Guo Jin struggled to breathe as Shun Xi frantically summoned the imperial physician.
The physician reported her condition to the emperor. Mo Yan Qi finally visited his mother, who admitted she regretted everything she had done. She told her son to uphold justice and show her no mercy, even though she was his mother. Guo Jin died soon afterwards.
Mo Yan Qi later issued an edict condemning his mother. In that edict, he mentioned the Eastern Palace, the Lishan Mountain, and the Heiyun Cavalry as the victim of Guo Jin’s crimes. She was stripped of her title and buried outside the imperial mausoleum as a commoner.
At the ending, Consort Dowager Qin Feng couldn’t escape the punishment either. Her clan registry was revoked, she was demoted to a commoner and imprisoned for life in Lingnan.
What Happened to Han Ming Xi on The First Jasmine Ending?
Han Ming Xi’s closure was closely tied to his brother, Han Ming Yue, Feng Zhi Yao, and Su Zui Die. After it was proven that Su Zui Die murdered Ling Yun, the Cangbei’s envoy returned home with the princess’s body and Su Zui Die.
Feng Zhi Yao, who had just learned that Yun Ling was actually Princess Ling Yun, was heartbroken and followed them to Cangbei. Su Zui Die was later rescued by Han Ming Yue, and Han Ming Xi followed his brother to Suixue Pass.
It turned out that Han Ming Yue and Su Zui Die had been working for Mo Jing Li. Han Ming Yue’s determination to stay by Mo Jing Li and Su Zui Die’s side began to waver. The brothers planned to leave the city and stay away from the power struggle. Along the way, Han Ming Xi unexpectedly ran into Feng Zhi Yao at a roadside stall.
Su Zui Die noticed that Han Ming Yue and Han Ming Xi had disappeared overnight. She reported it to Mo Jing Li. Just as the Han brothers were about to leave, Su Zui Die arrived with guards surrounding them.
The Han brothers fought back, but they were outnumbered. By chance, Feng Zhi Yao and Ru Yi passed by. Seeing Han Ming Xi fight with all his might, they helped him.
Feng Zhi Yao immediately turned his sword towards Su Zui Die. She managed to wound Feng Zhi Yao and killed Ru Yi. But in the end, Feng Zhi Yao’s sword pierced her. He told her that those stabs were for Princess Ling Yun and for Dachu.
Han Ming Yue was struck by two swords while protecting Han Ming Xi. He died in his younger brother’s arms while his eyes fixed on Su Zui Die’s lifeless body.
From Han Ming Xi, Feng Zhi Yao learned that Mo Jing Li was preparing for something big after his accomplice, Li Duo, took over Suixue Pass. He immediately returned to the capital to report it to Mo Xiu Yao, while Han Ming Xi decided to stay behind for a while.
Some time later, Han Ming Xi returned to the capital alone. As he wandered the street, he saw the Red Fox murdering the city guards. He fought him and got help from Li Fei Bai. The two narrowly survived an explosion. Han Ming Xi was unharmed, but Li Fei Bai’s eyes were injured.
After Mo Jing Li’s rebellion failed, a clerk from Shende Shop saw Han Ming Xi sitting alone on an empty street. While chatting nonstop about how worried their boss had been and how everyone had been searching for him, the young man dragged Han Ming Xi back to the shop. Stunned but relieved, Han Ming Xi let himself be pulled back to the life he had always wanted.
Meanwhile, Li Fei Bai, who was blind now, lived in a small house on the outskirts with Yu Sheng. He had tried to push her away, but somehow, she managed to find him. Yu Sheng patiently took care of him, even while complaining about the desolate place. Love overflowed form her eyes. The good news was that the doctor believed Li Fei Bai’s eyes could recover. Someday, he and Yu Sheng would be able to look at the starry sky together again.
My Two Cents
Although I was slightly disappointed with Guo Jin’s ending, she really reaped what she sowed. I think her real motives for usurping the throne was not Mo Yan Qi, it was herself and her ambitions. Otherwise, she wouldn’t even considered Qin Feng’s suggestion to rule for a few more years instead of returning the power to Mo Yan Qi. In the end, she was left nothing but loneliness and regrets.
And I have to admit that Ye Ying’s story really touched me. There aren’t many character like her in Cdramaland. She wasn’t exactly a villain, but she was definitely annoying at the beginning. However, I can feel her sincerity and couldn’t help feeling sorry for her.
Mo Jing Li truly didn’t deserve her. I hope she found her happiness in that little town, running her own shop and finally living for herself. That would be the best cure for a broken heart.
