He made an acquaintance with a photographer named Fei Wen Li. Because they shared the same interest in food and photography, they clicked right away.
Things escalated when Wang Xiao Xiao saw them at the office gate. Fei Wen Li dropped Yu Yu off and snapped a picture of him. Watching her cold boss look happy, Wang Xiao Xiao got curious. She recorded them and sent them to the group chat. Everyone got excited, except Gu Ye Jia.

Later, Yu Yu met Fei Wen Li again at her photo studio. He brought his camera along and asked her if he could develop the film himself. As the paper soaked, Gu Ye Jia’s photo slowly appeared. Fei Wen Li compliments the photo.
Yu Yu took a day’s leave, and his friends thought that it was a holiday with Fei Wen Li. Then Lin Sa found out Yu Yu used 200,000 yuan of the contingency fund while disappearing for days. Yu Yu’s colleagues panicked, thinking he was scammed. They frantically search everywhere for him.
Turns out Yu Yu was helping Fei Wen Li renovate her place and encouraging her during her hard time. Fei Wen Li suffered from an illness that made her have to use a wheelchair. And Yu Yu wanted to help Fei Wen Li build a home that was safe for her.
After his colleagues finally understand his situation with Fei Wen Li. There was another person whom he needed to explain to, Gu Ye Jia. Yu Yu visited her at the hospital and explained everything. Then he asked whether she had gone on a blind date with Xi Men.
He also gave her a long explanation about why Xi Men didn’t suit her. Gu Ye Jia stared at him and asked if he was jealous. Of course, Mr. Yu denied the accusation. But when Gu Ye Jia told him that she had decided that Xi Men wasn’t right for her, her smile lit something in Yu Yu’s eyes.
Just a few days later, they met again. Yu Yu needs to be hospitalized because he contracted a fungal respiratory infection. While he was in bed, Yu Yu asked Shen Wu to continue his project.
Yu Yu learned that Lin Sa got a job offer because the same head-hunter tried to hire him too. Yu Yu refused. Before he calmed down, another thing came. Shen Wu, who was excited to find his life goal, came to him and said he wanted to work independently.

Then Yu Yu showed her a house model. In the centre was her face with her thumb raised. He said he used the photo to push himself. He wanted to renovate the place for them both, but feared he would give up in the future.
Yu Yu’s feelings for Gu Ye Jia began long ago. After they watched the fireworks, he started to build the model piece by piece. When she came to check on him, he opened a window. When they watched the sunrise together, he added a door. And when she came with him to the award ceremony, he was ready to place the roof and start the interior.
But he feared he would mess everything up or she wouldn’t step through the door. However, her words earlier made him realize that he wasn’t alone. So Yu Yu asked Gu Ye Jia, with all the courage he had, if she would help him decorate the house. And when everything was ready, would she move in?

The feeling didn’t fade after she went home. It grew worse after she saw Wang Xiao Xiao’s video and Xia Xiao Man’s comment about Yu Yu dating Fei Wen Li. The next day, Yu Yu video-called Gu Ye Jia and asked her to pick an outfit because he was going on a date. She chose one, then ended the call. She was upset.
Later that day, Yu Yu showed up at the hospital with a camera. He wore the outfit she chose. Yu Yu took her pictures, saying he wanted to test the camera. Out of everyone he knew, she was the only one he thought of. He also added that Gu Ye Jia looks good in photos.

Xia Xiao Man wasn’t involved in Yu Yu and Gu Ye Jia’s bet. However, she was excited to spread the news that Yu Yu was seeing someone. She went to Gu Ye Jia’s house to gossip, unaware of her discomfort. She was just complaining that even Yu Yu had a date while she was still single.
Many things were happening around her, but Xia Xiao Man remained calm and undisturbed. Until one day, her ex-boyfriend showed up. He kept forcing Xia Xiao Man to get back together.
Xia Xiao Man was scared, and the moment she saw Yu Yu, she ran straight to him. Her ex got jealous. Yu Yu ended up fighting him. This time, Lin Sa had to pick Yu Yu up from the police station.
After watching the surveillance footage, Xia Xiao Man realized that the reliable man she kept searching for was right next to her all along. Whenever she was in trouble, Yu Yu had always helped her. Xia Xiao Man finally admitted to herself that she liked him.
Qing Qing reminded Xia Xiao Man that the man she liked never even let her into his house. Actually, Xia Xiao Man understands what kind of person Yu Yu is. If she confessed, Yu Yu would ridicule her until she wanted to disappear. Even so, Xia Xiao Man insisted on liking him. So, Qin Qing decided to support her friend and urge Xia Xiao Man to confess her feelings.
That night, the drunk Xia Xiao Man mistook Yu Yu’s words meant for Dao as something meant for her. Yu Yu said that he knew that she (Dao) liked him. And if she (Dao) liked him, then she could keep liking him.
Xia Xiao Man didn’t know Yu Yu was teasing Dao. She stood with her back to Yu Yu because he told her to turn around since she smelled of alcohol. 😅
Qing Qing tried to put some sense into her. She told Xia Xiao Man that Yu Yu didn’t like her and only wanted to stay friends. Xia Xiao Man had been carried away, and Qing Qing was worried that she would do something she’d regret.
Qing Qing advised Xia Xiao Man to join a company training in Beijing. A new environment might calm her down and help her think.
Xia Xiao Man threw a farewell party. If she did well in the training, she might get posted to another city as a store manager. During the party, Xia Xiao Man decided to confess again. Even if Yu Yu rejected her, she wanted to hear it directly. Qing Qing tried stopping her, saying Yu Yu and Gu Ye Jia went to the ceremony together. They even hugged. But Xia Xiao Man was adamant.

After Yu Yu got a fungal respiratory infection and needed to be hospitalized, Shen Wu took over his project. It was tough for him as he didn’t feel confident enough to handle it.
During that time, Yu Yu supervised everything through the CCTV camera. When he ran out of inspiration, Shen Wu followed Yu Yu’s habit by visiting Gu Ye Jia. Yu Yu once told him that whenever he felt stuck, he would go there and always leave with a clear mind.
Only then did Shen Wu realize that designing wasn’t easy. He even used AI to help him finish the work. By the time the project ended, Yu Yu was discharged from the hospital. He wasn’t happy with the final result, especially because Shen Wu relied on AI.
He gave him a small lecture about how to work as a real designer. Despite being stingy, Yu Yu proved that he was not a boss who could not appreciate someone’s effort. He still handed a wad of money as the design fee.
Shen Wu’s eyes widened at the sight of it. Even after Yu Yu deducted part of it because he used AI, it was still a lot of money. This experience made Shen Wu determined to open his own studio.
The next day, Shen Wu decided to tell Yu Yu about his plan to work independently. They argued, and both ended up upset. At home, Wang Xiao Xiao told him that Lin Sa was leaving the company. Immediately, Shen Wu felt guilty. If Lin Sa left, and he did too, Yu Yu would be all alone.
At the same time, Ou Yang started badmouthing Yu Yu online. He mocked Shen Wu’s design but addressed it as Yu Yu’s. Shen Wu couldn’t take it anymore and went to beat Ou Yang. He lost the fight.
Lin Sa and Yu Yu picked him up from the police station. He told them that he wouldn’t go solo because he wanted to take care of Yu Yu. Unbeknownst to him, Yu Yu accepted a TV interview to promote him as a solo designer. Shen Wu cried.
The next day, Shen Wu properly thanked Yu Yu and left the office. Separation wasn’t easy for either of them. But the sadness lasted only a day. Thanks to Lin Sa, Shen Wu returned as a junior designer at the studio. He would still be working alongside Yu Yu. Shen Wu’s job stayed mostly the same.
But now, Shen Wu could use the flower pattern Yu Yu hated in his own design. Shen Wu put a sign above his desk that said Shen Wu’s studio, written in calligraphy by Yu Yu.
My Two Cents
I love this Is He Still Single? drama. Yu Yu wasn’t the typical protagonist that you would love. Xia Xiao Man falling in love with him is a plot twist that I never saw coming. And did you see that her ex-boyfriend is way older than her? I really thought that the jealous boyfriend was somewhere near her age. This is another surprising plot twist.
Yu Yu unconsciously designed a house for a happy family. It was depicted in his design and the warm zone concept. He might not want to get married, but he realized that family is an important part of a human being. He only didn’t realize his own thoughts due to his fear of relationships. And it was funny because the one who understood him through and through was someone he called a rival.
