Huang Yi De is one of Forma’s long-time suppliers and a crucial accomplice in Pei Kang Hua’s financial fraud. However, because Pei Kang Hua was afraid Lyman would find out the fraud, terminate Formas’ contract with Huang Yi De company.
This was a disaster for Huang Yi De, because he was deep in debt, and he thought that Pei Kang Hua would help him. Huang Yi De holds evidence of Pei Kang Hua’s fraud and involvement in the accident 20 years ago. So when Huang Yi De was missing, Pei Kang Hua was restless.
It was Xiao Zhi Yu who found out the connection between Huang Yi De and Pei Kang Hua. He hid Huang Yi De in a small motel, monitored by Mr. Xu. Huang Yi De was surprised that Xiao Zhi Yu knew everything about his dealings with Pei Kang Hua.
Including when he went to the USA and made a deal with Pei Kang Hua. Since then, Huang Yi De secured his future and wealth. Now, after he was abandoned by Pei Kang Hua and hunted by debt collectors, Huang Yi De realized that his situation was dire.
Meanwhile, Hu Xiu didn’t realize that Xiao Zhi Yu’s motives for asking her to move in with him were because he found out that Pei Kang Hua had sent people to tail her. He was concerned about her safety.
While she settled into the apartment, Xiao Zhi Yu went to confront Pei Zhen. He warned him not let Hu Xiu pay the price of his reckless plan. Pei Zhen, however, insisted that he would protect her.
While Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhi Yu were enjoying a concert, a file was delivered to Mr. and Mrs. Hu. It exposed Hu Xiu’s relationship with Xiao Zhi Yu, and also revealed his identity as Qin Xiao Yi, the son of Qin Yu Ze.
Knowing that his daughter was in a relationship with the son of the man who caused his disabled condition, Mr. Hu was furious. He went to find Hu Xiu and was struck by a car. His leg was fractured, and he was rushed to the hospital.
Xiao Zhi Yu’s real identity was exposed on the internet and caused a public uproar. Hu Xiu learned it and was devastated because he kept such a critical secret from her.
Only then did Xiao Zhi Yu know that Hu Xiu’s father was also a victim of the Xingcheng Stadium accident. He was shaken. And when Hu Xiu learned that her father was injured because of her, Hu Xiu was completely devastated and asked for a breakup.
Hu Xiu stayed at the hospital to take care of her father while Xiao Zhi Yu dealt with the aftermath of the revelation. Thankfully, his partner and subordinates supported him. Yet, he still prepared for Lyman to cancel their cooperation.

As he arrived, Hu Xiu was hurried to leave. He caught her hand and introduced Hu Xiu to his mother as the woman he loved. But in the end, Hu Xiu still left the apartment.
Xiao Wan Yue was worried that her son’s identity would drag him down. Xiao Zhi Yu calmly replied that he wasn’t ashamed of being Qin Yu Ze’s son. Before leaving. Xiao Zhi Yu asked his mother whether she had ever been involved with Forma.
Xiao Zhi Yu didn’t know that before she left, Hu Xiu had discovered his secret. Only then did she begin to understand what he had been secretly investigating over the years. Hu Xiu went to Huang Yi De’s factory to follow the trail but unexpectedly ran into Xiao Zhi Yu. Both were shocked.
Hu Xiu demanded the truth, but he refused to answer. Hu Xiu was deeply hurt. To her, hiding things felt like a betrayal, not protection. Only after Hu Xiu asked him to either tell her everything or let her go, did Xiao Zhi Yu finally give in.

Ever since Xiao Zhi Yu entered the Pei family, his life has been ruined. Because of him, Pei Zhen always felt overlooked. In everyone’s eyes, he could never measure up. And when Hu Xiu refused him, even after Xiao Zhi Yu’s identity was revealed, the pain doubled.
In Pei Zhen’s eyes, Xiao Zhi Yu was the one who betrayed the family. Xiao Zhi Yu laughed bitterly and said Pei Zhen was twisting the truth like his father always did. Just after Xiao Zhi Yu said that, his mother called.

Meanwhile, at the Hu house, Hu Xiu finally broke down. She cried her heart out in front of her parents, begging his father to forgive her. Hu Xiu had been trying to forget Xiao Zhi Yu, but she couldn’t. Only then did her parents realize how deep her feelings for Xiao Zhi Yu truly were.
All the pain eventually brought Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhi Yu back together. A single kiss in Rongcheng led to a long night at the apartment. 🥰🥰🥰
The next day, Pei Kang Hua made his move. He forced Huang Yi De out of hiding and sent his henchmen to kidnap Hu Xiu. He tried to use her to blackmail Xiao Zhi Yu and forced him to choose between Hu Xiu and Huang Yi De.
Fortunately, just before she was taken away, Hu Xiu realized where the memory card was hidden. She sent Xiao Zhi Yu a message, telling him to find a certain concrete block with special markings.
Xiao Zhi Yu then asked Mr. Xu to locate it, the memory card was found inside the block. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhi Yu surely chose to find Hu Xiu. He came just at the right time to save her from the fire. Hu Xiu was taken to the hospital right away.
Early in the morning, Xiao Zhi Yu went to the Pei house. He revealed the truth about what happened at the Xingcheng Stadium twenty years ago.
Back then, the stadium roof collapsed, causing three deaths and six injuries. Pei Kang Hua claimed that the experts have concluded it was due to Qin Yu Ze’s decision error. Xiao Zhi Yu refuted this. He presented a stack of paper containing printed evidence that Huang Yi De had hidden.
The records proved that Qin Yu Ze had used construction materials that fully met the safety standards. However, someone had secretly replaced them with inferior materials that looked almost identical.
Pei Kang Hua was behind it all. By switching the materials, he took 2 million yuan under the table. Qin Yu Ze eventually discovered the fraud and insisted on exposing Pei Kang Hua.
That very night, Qin Yu Ze died. Pei Kang Hua never intended to kill him, but Qin Yu Ze did die because of him. The last message sent to Xiao Wan Yue was falsified by Pei Kang Hua. Xiao Zhi Yu knew it because Qin Ze Yu never called his son by his full name. He always called him Yi.
Pei Kang Hua could no longer deny the truth. Even so, he still blamed Qin Yu Ze. He claimed that Qin Yu Ze should have taken the blame. Later, Pei Kang Hua would have helped him make a comeback. He insisted that he never meant to harm Qin Yu Ze.
In his twisted logic, God has helped him earn money so he could support Xiao Zhi Yu and his mother. They were the ones who should feel grateful to him. Pei Zhen and Xiao Wen Yue were shocked as the truth was laid bare in front of them. Not long, the police’s siren was blaring.
The Xincheng Stadium case was reopened and attracted the whole country’s attention. Qin Yu Ze’s name was finally cleared. Pei Kang Hua was suspected of embezzlement, commercial bribery, safety violations, evidence fabrication, illegal disclosure of information, and many more.
Dynamism was also cleared. The investigation against the company was officially terminated after Pei Zhen turned himself in and was held accountable for his actions.
After twenty years, Xiao Wen Yue is to visit Qin Yu Ze’s grave. She met Xiao Zhi Yu there and apologized to him for everything she had done back then. And finally, Xiao Zhi Yu could hold his mother tightly. Xiao Wen Yue decided to file for divorce and planned to return to the US. Xiao Zhi Yu decided to follow her to help his mother settle matters there.
Before leaving, Xiao Zhi Yu went to see Hu Xiu’s parents. This time, Mr. and Mrs. Hu accepted him with open arms, no more hatred or grudge. During a Chinese chess game, Mr. Hu asked how they planned to take their relationship further.
Hu Xiu’s parents were concerned about this after learning that Hu Xiu stayed at Xiao Zhi Yu’s place. Xiao Zhi Yu said that he will take responsibility, while Hu Xiu made it clear that she didn’t want to rush things and had no intention of getting married. The statement stunned Xiao Zhi Yu.
On the ride home, Xiao Zhi Yu was upset. He thought she wasn’t serious about their relationship. But the argument didn’t last for long. Hu Xiu told him that for the past few years, she had been chasing a template life: a stable relationship and job.
But in the end, she wasn’t happy. Meeting Xiao Zhi Yu made her realize what she truly wanted: to chase her dreams and make up for all regrets. After he understood her feelings, Xiao Zhi Yu promised to support her.

Pei Zhen learned from Xiao Zhi Yu that Pei Kang Hua had been investigating Hu Xiu. He stormed into his father’s office to protest. Instead, he discovered the shocking truth. Hu Xiu’s father was one of the victims of the Xingcheng Stadium accident.
After he discovered that Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhi Yu were already together. Pei Zhen’s hatred towards Xiao Zhi Yu intensified. So driven by jealousy and anger, Pei Zhen leaked Xiao Zhi Yu’s real identity on the internet. The news spread and caused a huge wave.
On the surface, Pei Zhen appeared calm, but inside, he felt satisfied. He believed that once Hu Xiu learned the truth, she would leave Xiao Zhi Yu. He was wrong.
Even though she was deeply hurt by the secret, Hu Xiu still defended Xiao Zhi Yu. She refuted Pei Zhen by saying that changing his name and going abroad wasn’t Xiao Zhi Yu’s decision. He was young back then. Even if his father made a mistake, it had nothing to do with Xiao Zhi Yu.
Hearing this, Pei Zhen lost control. He blurted out a question without thinking. Asking whether it still didn’t matter for Hu Xiu if Xiao Zhi Yu’s father was the reason her father became disabled. The moment those words left his mouth, Hu Xiu understood everything.
Pei Zhen had known the truth all along, and the leaked information was his doing. So, Hu Xiu told Pei Zhen bluntly that he was far from being innocent. Hu Xiu refused his gift and said that his father wouldn’t accept his kindness.
The rejection stunned Pei Zhen. He had believed that once Hu Xiu learned the truth, she would turn to him. Pei Zhen forgot that Hu Xiu was never that kind of person. She was smart and clear-headed.
Pei Zhen discovered that the person who leaked Forma’s financial fraud to Lyman was not one of their suppliers, but Xiao Zhi Yu.
Furious, he went to Pei Kang Hua and told him everything, calling Xiao Zhi Yu an ungrateful wolf. It was proven the next day when Pei Kang Hua and Pei Zhen learned that Xiao Zhi Yu was also investigating whether Xiao Wan Yue’s financial records.
This made Pei Zhen’s determination to bring Xiao Zhi Yu down stronger. He instructed his subordinates to continue spreading rumours about Xiao Zhi Yu leaking trade secrets and also told them to drag the Xingcheng Stadium accident back into the spotlight.
Because Pei Kang Hua had kidnapped Hu Xiu, Pei Zhen was angry and rushed into his father’s office. In front of the door, he overheard Pei Kang Hua’s phone call with his subordinate mentioning Hu Xiu and a memory card.
Just when he was about to ask about Hu Xiu’s matter, Pei Zhen remembered what Xiao Zhi Yu once said. That was the way he tried to protect Hu Xiu, which would only bring her more harm. Pei Zhen changed his mind. But it didn’t change the fact that he left the room with new bruises on his back.
Everything came into light after Xiao Zhi Yu exposed what Pei Kang Hua did twenty years ago. Pei Zhen was completely shaken. After Pei Kang Hua was arrested and placed under investigation, Pei Zhen also turned himself in for his involvement in the Dynamism case.
After everything was over, Pei Zhen asked to meet Xiao Zhi Yu. He said that he had changed Forma’s name. Back then, the name had been chosen by Qin Yu Ze, and continuing to use it didn’t feel appropriate anymore. Pei Zhen said that once everything was settled, he would leave to find his own path.
Pei Zhen apologized for everything he had done. All those years, he had treated Xiao Zhi Yu as a rival. Yet it turned out that Xiao Zhi Yu had never seen him that way. Thinking back, Pei Zhen found it almost ridiculous. As he walked away, Pei Zhen took another look at the band-aid that he kept in his pocket.
What Happened to Zhao Xiao Rou and Gong Huai Cong on Love Between Lines Ending?
Xiao Zhi Yu let Gong Huai Cong take charge of the game club. Gong Huai Cong panicked at first, but Xiao Zhi Yu reassured him. The club was already running well and stable thanks to Gong Huai Cong. Xiao Zhi Yu also decided to stop playing. He felt that Qin Xiao Yu shouldn’t be trapped in Rongcheng anymore.
Zhao Xiao Rou and Gong Huai Cong planned to open a café together. They went to find a new location, and Zhao Xiao Rou helped him negotiate the rent of a location near her coffee shop. She told Gong Huai Cong that she had her own agenda by helping him. All this time, she was used to being close to him and did not want that to change.

My Musing
Despite my fondness for the romance, I felt disappointed with the ending. Especially when Xiao Zhi Yu revealed the truth. I wanted to see the investigation. How everything unfolded slowly.
But now it felt skipped. I wanted to see how Xiao Zhi Yu handled it. Did he make any shady moves, or did he have a cruel side we never saw? All we got was a smirk behind a car window, and it wasn’t enough.
Pei Kang Hua, on the other hand, has all the qualities of being a villain. He is calculating, prideful, and obsessed with control. He is a cruel man. Yet all we got was a grumpy middle-aged man sitting in his office, playing with his bead bracelet and lighting incense. Quite disappointing, indeed.
However, let’s set that aside and focus on the romance. I truly wished we could see Hu Xiu in a wedding gown or Xiao Zhi Yu holding the marriage certificate. It would have been better if they had a child.
