Blood River Ending Explained
What Happened to Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He on Blood River Ending?
Su Mu Yu decided to join the Prince of Langya’s faction. He told him about his intention to bring Blood River into the light. They wanted to be a legitimate sect rather than an assassin guild. Meanwhile, Su Chang He joined the First Prince’s faction, making him stand on the opposite side of Su Mu Yu once again.
Su Mu Yu was still worried about Bai He Huai’s safety and asked Su Zhe to take her away. He also asked Su Zhe to let him and Su Chang He handle Tianqi City’s mess.

Su Zhe hesitated because Su Mu Yu’s body was still weak. He advised him to follow Bai He Huai and rest for a few months before taking action. Su Zhe really cared about him deeply because he used to suffer the same condition.
Su Zhe said he wanted to entrust his daughter to Su Mu Yu in the future. Therefore, he didn’t want Su Mu Yu to end up like him. In his heart, he already saw Su Mu Yu as his son-in-law.
Seeing Su Mu Yu so stubborn, Su Zhe has no choice but to help Su Mu Yu. He channelled his Zhenqi (Internal energy) to him. Su Mu Yu wanted to refuse because the backlash would be dangerous. But surely Su Zhe wouldn’t budge.
Afterward, he told Su Zhe that once he survives this ordeal, he should leave the Jianghu (martial arts world) and help his daughter at the clinic. But Su Mu Yu still thought about the Blood River members. Su Zhe understood. Later on, Su Mu Yu finally agreed to his request.
At the same time, Su Chang He was furious that the First Prince, Xiao Yong, had hurt Blood River and injured Su Mu Yu. He could kill the prince instantly, but Zhuo Qing stopped him.

Zhao Qing began doubting Su Chang He’s loyalty. They tested him with a truth-testing snake. Su Chang He. When asked if he could kill Su Mu Yu if needed, Su Chang He killed the snake on the spot, showing the prince not to cross the line.
After Mu Qing Yang and Mu Xue Wei died, the Prince of Langya, Xiao Rui Feng, sent the Inner Security Division guards to protect Su Mu Yu and the rest. Bai He Huai asked Jin Feng, the commander, to find the son of Li Xian, deputy commander of the Jinwu Guards.
Su Mu Yu was heartbroken hearing of their deaths. He told Xiao Rui Feng he would assist him with all his strength, but Blood River has blood debts to settle in Tianqi. They wouldn’t leave until it was done, and Xiao Rui Feng shouldn’t stop them.
Su Mu Yu and the rest were surprised to learn that Su Chang He was left in seclusion but went missing instead of joining them. Su Mu Yu knew that he had his own plan, just like when he plotted to kill the former Patriarch, Mu Ming Ce.
The night before the Imperial Assembly, Su Mu Yu decided to retrieve the Dragonseal Scroll alone. He didn’t even let Mu Yu Mo follow him because he knew that the night would be perilous.
Su Mu Yu was stopped by three Elders of the Shadow Sect. Su Mu Yu sneered at them for choosing to be a servant, while he sought freedom. Before they fought, Zhuo Qing appeared.

Su Mu Yu was there to kill Zhuo Qing because Xiao Ruo Feng said that Zhuo Qing had left the imperial tomb with the Dragonseal Scroll. However, even without it, Su Mu Yu was bent on killing the eunuch.
The remaining members of the Spider Shadow came to help him. While Su Mu Yu focused on Zhuo Qing, the others fought the elders.
Zhuo Qing was stronger than Su Mu Yu because he used to be number one in Tianqi. He can also absorb others’ inner force. Su Mu Yu’s sword energy almost drained because of him. It turned out that he had been breaking through his cultivation by absorbing power from other martial artists.
He mocked Su Mu Yu, saying Su Chang He had abandoned him and killed Xiao Rui Feng. Su Mu Yu replied that there was absolute trust between them. Right then, Su Chang He appeared and finished his sentence.
Zhuo Qing was shocked. He thought Su Chang He was on their side. Su Chang He told Zhuo Qing that he was targeting Zhuo Qing’s Humble Heart Technique. If he could draw it out from Zhuo Qing, he would become invincible. Su Chang He is smart; he made his Hell Palm poisonous with venom so he could definitely injure Zhuo Qing.
However, Su Chang He had another hidden intention that he only revealed to Su Mu Yu at that moment. Zhuo Qing had always been his target since twenty years ago, because he annihilated Su Chang He’s entire village after they refused to give him their sacred Fire-Dragon Lingzhi.
Su Chang He had long known his past and enemy. So when Su Mu Yu retrieved Su Chang He’s record from the Wanjuan Tower, he didn’t bother to look.
Zhuo Qing was badly wounded. Meanwhile, one elder of the Shadow Sect died, and only two remained. Zhuo Qing then absorbed Mu Fu Sheng and Xie Pi You’s inner force and broke through again. Now he has become the Spirit Roam level martial artist once again.
When Zhuo Qing was almost draining Su Chang He’s inner force, Su Mu Yu couldn’t stand still. He entered his demonic state, hair white and eyes red. Behind him was the giant Demon Sword. Su Chang He panicked because the sword art could cost Su Mu Yu’s life. However, Su Mu Yu said that if his life could clear the Blood River, it was worth it.
Su Mu Yu used the Seven-Slaughter Six-Annihilation Sword. Zhuo Qing was still strong enough to stop the Demon Sword and absorb its power. At the critical moment, Bai He Huai arrived with Su Mu Yu’s Crane’s Feather Sword.
With his sword in hand, Su Mu Yu managed to stab Zhuo Qing. But only after Su Mu Yu launched the final strike, a Demon Sword strike that split the sky as well as the city, could he defeat Zhuo Qing.
With the strike, Su Mu Yu lost himself to the demonic phase. Bai He Huai rushed to help him with Iceheart Water to stop the backlash. Su Mu Yu’s return to his normal state.
Bai He Huai held him with relief, while feeling something inside her body surge. Su Mu Yu said it was over, and they could return to Nan’an City together.

But suddenly Bai He Huai showed that her body was possessed by the puppet poison. This time, even Bai He Huai’s antidote couldn’t save her life. Su Mu Yu carried her to the Healing Hands clinic, but both fainted on the stairs.
Su Chang He grew impatient waiting for the emperor’s decision. Tang Lian Yue and Mu Yu Mo came with the news, but it was far from what he expected. Zhou Qing’s whereabouts were unknown, and they were also unsure whether he was alive or had died. Xiao Yong’s punishment as the mastermind was also too light.
Su Chang He told Tang Lian Yue that he would wait until Su Mu Yu woke up and would heed to his will. And if Su Mu Yu never did, he would draw his sword and kill them all. Xiao Yong and Xiao Rui Feng would surely die.
When Su Mu Yu woke up, he asked about Bai He Huai. Su Chang He explained that Bai He Huai had died. Su Zhe granted her wish to die. He did it on Su Mu Yu’s behalf because he was still unconscious, so Su Zhe had to make the decision.
Bai He Huai’s body has been taken to Medicine King Valley. Su Chang He added that on every Remembrance Day and Qingming festival, there’ll be a pot of wine prepared for Su Mu Yu at the valley. Su Chang He’s heart ached watching Su Mu Yu cry.
Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He believed that Night Crow had died from Tang Lian Yue’s Phoenix Descent, not knowing she escaped. Because the emperor spared Xiao Yong, Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He decided to take revenge themselves. Su Mu Yu killed Xiao Yong on his way to the Imperial Astronomical Bureau.
Then they went to see Xiao Rui Feng. He regretted their decision to kill Xiao Yong. Su Mu Yu told him that they only wanted Blood River members to live under the light and not be pawns for those fighting for power.
Even if in the future Blood River still couldn’t walk under the light, at least for now, they carried the justice of their own. Su Chang He added that if anyone dares to use them again, Blood River will rise and take control.
From that moment, Blood River and Xiao Rui Feng walked separate paths. Not enemies, but not friends either. Su Chang He glanced at Tang Lian Yue and bid farewell, following Su Mu Yu, who had already left.
On the way, Su Mu Yu wore the Other Shore’s ring that Su Chang He once gave him. Their never-ending journey began. It would take eight years before Blood River returned to Jianghu and twelve years before Su Mu Yu reunited with Bai He Huai.
What Happened to Bai He Huai on Blood River Ending?
Ba He Huai was hit by the Puppet poison and refused to leave the city because the puppet spell was developed by an outcast of the Medicine King Valley. As the highest-ranked disciple, she felt responsible for facing it.

When her father, Su Zhe, channelled his Zhenqi to Su Mu Yu to help him recover faster, Bai He Huai was worried. The Divine-Demon Nirvana Art could cause serious backlash, even if it wouldn’t kill him.
After the transfer, Su Mu Yu and Su Zhe passed out. Dian Ye and the Jinwu Guard surrounded their courtyard. Mu Qing Yang and Mu Xue Wei held them off while Bai He Huai and the rest brought Su Mu Yu and Su Zhe to safety.
Sadly, Mu Qing Yang and Mu Xue Wei died during the fight. Before the fight started, Mu Qing Cang had finally confessed his feelings for Mu Xue Wui. Their body were gone, only a burned coin was found.
The night before the Imperial Assembly, Bai He Huai was feeling restless and went to find Su Mu Yu. She took Crane’s Feather sword with her. Su Zhe went with her for protection.

She found Su Mu Yu during his fight with Zhuo Qing. She gave him the sword, and Su Mu Yu used it to stab Zhuo Qing. When he turned fully demonic, she used Iceheart Water to stop the backlash.
Helping Su Mu Yu caused her puppet’s poison to flare. Only then did Bai He Huai realize that she had fallen into a trap. It turned out that the Night Crow had made the poison inside Bai He Huai’s body seemed neutralized.
But after Bai He Huai used her blood to create antidotes for others, the poison within would flare up. Bai He Huai didn’t want to become a puppet and asked Su Mu Yu to kill her. Somewhere else, Night Crow endured her injuries but was pleased knowing Bai He Huai might be suffering from backlash.
When Su Mu Yu woke, he was shattered to learn Bai He Huai had died. He avenged her by killing Xiao Yong. What he didn’t know was that Bai He Huai was still alive. She had been taken away by Su Yun Xiu.
Behind their back, Su Zhe made an agreement with Su Yun Xiu. She would cure Bai He Huai, but on one condition. Su Yun Xiu wanted to take Bai He Huai away with her. She wanted to cultivate a martial art, and she needed Bai He Huai to stay by her side. Su Yun Xiu also said she didn’t want Su Mu Yu to know about it. Su Zhe agreed to keep it secret.
Twelve years later, Su Mu Yu went to visit Bai He Huai’s grave. It was raining before the sunlight broke through. Su Mu Yu froze when he sensed her presence. Slowly, he turned around and saw her standing there, smiling brightly.
What Happened to Mu Yu Mo and Tang Lian Yue on Blood River Ending?
When the noble young masters of Tianqi City were missing, Mu Yu Mo and Tang Lian Yue followed the tracking spider and found them, as well as Hao Yue Jun at the Fengxi Manor. When Tang Lian Yue planned to take him away, someone killed Hao Yue Jun.

Night Crow appeared at the manor along with the drugged Tang Ling Huang. Due to his power, Tang Lian Yue and Mu Yu Mo struggled to restrain him.
Mu Yu Mo secretly let her spiders take Bai He Huai’s antidote and bite Tang Ling Huang, helping purge the poison within. His consciousness returned for a brief moment. But in the end, Tang Ling Huan realized he was beyond saving and took his own life.
Mu Yu Mo was badly injured after blocking Tang Ling Huang’s attack aimed at Tang Lian Yue. Her life was on the edge, so she asked Tang Lian Yue to marry her. And he said yes.
Losing his senior brother and seeing the woman he loved hurt, Tang Lian Yue was furious. He unleashed the Phoenix Descent to kill Night Crow and her puppets. However, she managed to escape.
The death of Mu Qing Yang and Mu Xue Wei weighed on Mu Yu Mo’s mind. After waking from unconsciousness, she told Tang Lian Yue that she finally understood their responsibilities.
She made him promise that once their mission was over, when he was no longer a Xuanwu Guardian and she no longer a Blood River assassin, they could love each other freely. Tang Lian Yue hesitated before promising. He said that once Xiao Rui Feng fulfilled his goal, he would leave Jianghu and look for her.
Mu Yu Mo wiped her tears and told him to leave because the city and the prince needed him. Before leaving, Tang Lian Yue gave her a wooden rabbit. He said he never wanted her to hide behind the mask. He wanted her to show her face and walk under the light. Then they parted, not knowing when they would meet again as lovers.
After everything’s over, Mu Yu Mo stepped in as the head of the Mu family. She put aside her feelings as she carried a new burden and a new priority on her shoulders.
What Happened to the Xiao Rui Feng, the Prince of Langya on Blood River Ending?
The Prince of Langya, Xiao Rui Feng, and the First Prince, Xiao Yong, were caught in a power struggle. And in the middle of it is the emperor. The monarch quietly took advantage of the conflict. Xiao Rui Feng, his younger brother, had strong ties to Jianghu and great battlefield merits that outshone the throne.

Xiao Yong, his ambitious eldest son, was someone he never valued. The emperor has been waiting for the day when Xiao Yong defeated Xiao Rui Feng. Now, both princes sought the Dragonseal Scroll, an edict of succession left by the late emperor from the last dynasty.
Xiao Rui Feng purposely weakened his situation by sending away his trusted bodyguards. He only keeps Tang Lian Yue by his side. He did this to lure the enemy into making a move. To protect him, Li Han Yi, the Xueyue Sword Deity, came to Tianqi.
Xiao Rui Feng believed that the Dragonseal Scroll would appear during the Imperial Assembly. He just needed the chance to intercept it.
Rumors spread on the street that Xiao Rui Feng would ascend the throne during the Imperial Assembly. The emperor summoned him and asked him about it. Xiao Rui Feng assured him that he would retrieve the scroll on his behalf and ensure nothing went wrong.
The emperor watched his brother drink the poisoned water and pastries sent by Xiao Yong. He already knew about the poison but pretended ignorance, letting Xiao Rui Feng consume it. That showed how far their childhood affection had faded.
It was sad to see their relationship fall apart. Xiao Rui Feng did all he could to pave a clear path for those he cared about before his death.
After the emperor decided on Xiao Yong’s punishment, Xiao Rui Feng was unsatisfied. He submitted a memorial impeaching Xiao Yong and also evidence of Xiao Yong’s involvement in the rebellion. But the emperor refused them.
Meanwhile, the Dragonseal Scroll was still missing as someone else seemed to have taken it first. Xiao Rui Feng still ordered the Inner Security Division to keep investigating.
After the turmoil in Tianqi City ended, Xiao Rui Feng welcomed Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He to his palace. He regretted their action of killing Xiao Yong because it would make Blood River’s situation complicated. They parted ways not as enemies but also never as friends.
What Happened to Xiao Yong, the First Prince on Blood River Ending?
Xiao Yong’s faction injured Su Mu Yu and killed Mu Qing Yang and Mu Xue Wei. They also planned to use the generals and marquises to cause riots in Tianqi City on the night before the Imperial Assembly. Xiao Yong has blackmailed them by holding their sons hostage.

And when the chaos happened, Xiao Yong would reveal the Dragonseal Scroll and frame Xiao Rui Feng for both of the riots and the scroll’s revelation. Then Xiao Yong would step in as a hero who stopped the chaos by killing Xiao Rui Feng.
With the Prince of Langya gone, Xiao Yong could rope in the people under him and clear the path to the throne.
Xiao Yong also tried to kill Xiao Rui Feng through the emperor. He sent poisonous drink and pastries to his father, who then served them to Xiao Rui Feng. And as it wasn’t enough, Zhuo Qing’s men attacked Xiao Rui Feng outside the palace. But after Zhuo Qing was defeated and Xiao Rui Feng’s assassination failed. Xiao Yong’s whole plan collapsed.
To protect him, Dian Ye confessed that he was the mastermind. Knowing he couldn’t escape punishment, Xiao Yong submitted a petition saying he was partly responsible for Dian Ye’s crimes and was willing to be imprisoned in the Imperial Astronomical Bureau. He also gave up his title and vowed to stay out of politics forever. The emperor agreed.
Xiao Yong finally died at Su Mu Yu’s hand on the way to the Bureau. Before he was killed, Xiao Yong threatened Su Mu Yu. He reminded him that he was still a prince.
If Su Mu Yu killed him, Blood River would never step into the sunlight, and they would become criminals. Su Mu Yu replied that everything has changed. He chose to avenge Bai He Huai, Mu Qing Yang, Mu Xue Wei, and everyone who was manipulated by him.
Su Mu Yu said that after this, the entire Tianqi City would remember Blood River, and no one would dare manipulate them again because now they understood the price.
My Two Cents
I was quite unsatisfied with the ending. Surely the second season of Blood River seemed on the way, but I needed at least a small sneak peek of Su Mu Yu’s life when he lived without Bai He Huai. And after the last battle, Su Chang He actually seemed to soften a little.
You could see it from his eyes and expression, how anxious he was about losing Su Mu Yu. And when he looked at the crying Su Mu Yu, my heart went straight to Su Chang He.
Well, dear readers… I hope this post helped calm your curiosity. Thank you for stopping by. This truly meant a lot to me, especially when the article was a bit hard to write. LOL. I’ll see you in another post of drama review and ending explained. Until then, goodbye! 😉
