What Happened to Han Li on The Immortal Ascension Ending?

The Yellow Maple Valley Sect joined the Nine Kingdom Alliance. After Li Hua Yuan’s death, Hong Fu decided to her own way, cutting ties with both the Yellow Maple Valley and the Demonic Sect. Still, she didn’t forget Li Hua Yuan’s final request to look after his favorite disciple, Han Li.

Meanwhile, Han Li and his fellow disciples were badly injured. He remained unconscious for two days, protected by Qu Hun who stood near him. Song Meng and Zhong Wei Niang were busy tending to their wounds.

When Han Li finally woke up, they discussed what had happened on the battlefield. The Seven Sect had fallen because of the betrayal of Spirit Beast Mountain and Skyfort Castle.

Han Li was heartbroken to learn that Li Hua Yuan had died fighting Yun Lu. He gave Li Hua Yuan’s bag of gems to Song Meng and Zhong Wei Niang along with his handmade pills. He had decided to go solo because he was the only one without the Soul-Burning spell that could trace his whereabouts.

Song Meng and Zhong Wei Niang finally realized that they were betrayed by their own sect. So, they decided to leave too and joined Hong Fu. The three parted ways, promising to meet again. It’s a bitter farewell.

Later, Han Li went to the city to find Qi Yun Xiao and Ru Yin, who promised to fix the teleportation array. Instead, he found Qi Yun Xiao’s spirit tablet and the gravely ill Ru Yin. He had arrived too late.

Ru Yin gave him Qi Yun Xiao’s Heart Technique manual, her array notes, and several rare scrolls that he wouldn’t find on the market. In return, Ru Yin asked Han Li to avenge them. The Fu Clan had killed Qi Yun Xiao and Ru Yin’s days were numbered.

Han Li promised to make pills for Ru Yin to ease her pain. While she spent her time completing the array, even it cost her life.

The array could transport Han Li a thousand li (about 500 kilometres or 311 miles) in an instant. However, she couldn’t identify the exact destination of the array, because it was an ancient array that barely recorded in any scroll.

Han Li went to the gem quarry. But he stumbled upon Nangong Wan fighting for her life against Wang Chan and his men. Disguising himself as one of Wang Chan’s follower, Han Li stepped in to help her. He was surprised to see Dong Xuan Er was there too, walking behind Wang Chan.

Dong Xuan Er tried to persuade Nangong Wan to surrender. She said that Moonshadow Sect was negotiating peace with the Six Demonic Sects. During the stalemate, Han Li seized the chance to take Dong Xuan Er hostage, allowing him and Nangong Wan to escape.

Dong Xuan Er later revealed that Grandmaster Yun Lu of the Joyful Union Sect was her father, and her mother was Hong Fu. Dong Xuan Er admitted her skill was progressing fast under Yun Lu’s guidance.

And although she knew the technique will eventually change her personality, she couldn’t refuse such opportunity. Han Li reminded her that it was normal for cultivator to forget people, as they have a long lifetime.

What mattered most was not forgetting who she was. Han Li and Dong Xuan Er parted ways soon after. But she kept him in her mind.

Han Li found that Nangong Wan was gravely injured in a cave and carried her to a stone bed. as he tried to heal her, the unconscious Nangong Wan suddenly gripped his hand. Her eyes were tightly shut.

But Nangong Wan clung to him, refusing to let go. Without realizing it, she began absorbing his spiritual power. Han Li couldn’t stop her and could only think of it as his repayment for her before he fainted beside her. In his dream, his master Li Hua Yuan appeared.

He is telling him to stop pretending to be so tough. Every being has a purpose, and so does Han Li. He must never forget his own.

When he woke up, Han Li’s cultivation had fallen back to the Qi Refining Stage. The woman beside him claimed she wasn’t Nangong Wan, but her cousin, Nangong Ping.

She scolded him for what he did to Nangong Wan and said that what happened now is a consequence of his action. Han Li apologized, but disappointment over his missing power lingered.

Soon after, Han Li accepted his weakened state. he realized that the regression is aligned with the Triple Cycle Core Rebirth. He only has to do the same thing two more times, and he could reach the Core Formation stage.

Because Han Li believed that the woman is Nangong Ping, he didn’t tell her about the teleportation array. He told her that he planned to earn some gems at the quarry and later find a quiet and peaceful place to cultivate. He declined her offer to join the Moonshadow Sect and went on his way.

Han Li and Qu Hun quietly entered the gem quarry and straight into the array. Following Ru Yin’s instruction, Han Li began activating it with all the gems he had.

Unbeknownst to him, Wang Chan has found him. before he finished activated the array, Wang Chang’s men attacked. Han Li used up everything he had, the puppets, the robots, and all.

Just as Wang Chang get frustrated because his men couldn’t defeat Han Li, Wang Chan intervened and attempted to attack Han Li directly.

In the end, With Qu Hun’s help, Han Li finally managed to activate the array. Wang Chan arrived too late and could only watch in frustration as his rival vanished into a place beyond his reach.

Han Li arrived safely at the faraway place and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful life.

What Happened to Nangong Wan on The Immortal Ascension Ending?

Nangong Wan was shocked when she heard that all the Foundation and Qi Refining Stage disciples of Yellow Maple Valley were wiped out. Of course, her first thought was on Han Li. She later then went to the Yellow Maple Valley to pay her respect to Li Hua Yuan.

There, she met Hong Fu, who told her that Li Hua Yuan had always been worried about his favorite disciple, Han Li. Hong Fu also mentioned, rather casually, that Dong Xuan Er missed him a lot after their trip to the Yan Clan. Nangong Wan didn’t say much, but she was clearly not happy to hear that.

During the fight near the gem quarry, Nangong Wan was heavily outnumbered by Wang Chan and his men. Han Li happened to see the battle and decided to step in. He disguised himself as one of Wang Chan’s men and took Dong Xuan Er hostage.

Dong Xuan Er and Nangong Wan recognized him right away, but they pretended not to know him. Dong Xuan Er did it because she was secretly happy to meet him. While Nangong Wan didn’t want him to find out she had actually been looking for him. That was too embarrassing for her. 😅

Following Han Li’s plan, they split up. By then, Nangong Wan’s injuries had worsened, and when Han Li found her again, she had already fainted. As he tried to heal her, she suddenly gripped his hand and clung to him like a koala, still unconscious. To his horror, she began absorbing his spiritual power. Han Li struggled to break free but couldn’t. And before long, he passed out too.

When Nangong Wan woke up, she was shocked to see Han Li lying beside her, again. But her shock turned into guilt when she realized he had lost all his spiritual power. Only then did she remember that she had used the Rebirth Art. When her core cultivation was damaged, this technique would draw spiritual energy from the first person who touched her. Unfortunately, that person was Han Li.

At first, Nangong Wan planned to run away. But then she realized Han Li had saved her life. If she fled, he could accuse her of repaying kindness with betrayal, something that would destroy her reputation. So, she decided she would kill him later instead (yes, that was her logic 😅).

But when Han Li woke up, flustered and panicked, Nangong Wan blurted out the first thing that came to mind. That she wasn’t Nangong Wan, but her cousin, Nangong Ping. 😂

Han Li seemed to accept her explanation, which gave her the confidence to vent all her pent-up frustration about what happened the night they slept together.

Han Li was left baffled when she declared that the worst thing he had ever done was giving Nangong Wan the Ageless Pill. In Nangong Wan’s mind, that was basically calling her old! Taking his spiritual power was, in her opinion, just a little lesson he deserved. 😂

Thinking that Han Li wanted her favor, Nangong Wan tried to make it up to him. Out of gratitude for saving her earlier, she offered him two choices: she could either compensate him with gems, or he could follow her back to the Moonshadow Sect and train under a Core Foundation-level master.

Han Li could recover faster, and he could learn Moonshadow’s secret techniques. Nangong Wan even promised to put in some good words for him and promised that “Nangong Wan” wouldn’t object to her request.

Nangong Wan is sooo proud. There’s no way she’d ever bow down or apologize to Han Li. 😂 Honestly, she looked way cuter like this than when she’s acting all mighty and noble as the grandmaster.

Han Li, however, misunderstood her intentions. He thought she wanted to take him in as a subordinate. So, he politely declined the recruitment offer and chose the gems instead.

In The Immortal Ascension ending, Nangong Wan was visibly disappointed but still handed him a generous amount before they parted ways. They left the cave together, and that was the last time she ever saw him.

After that, Nangong Wan, Hong Fu, and the other righteous cultivators continued their fight against the Demonic Sects.

What Happened to Wang Chan on The Immortal Ascension Ending?

Wang Chan is now working under Yun Lu. However, his real goal to overthrow his aunt and seize the power from her hands still remained. Now add to his complex personality is his obsession of Han Li.

It wasn’t long before Wang Chan discovered that Li Fei Yu’s real name was Han Li. He had been searching for him all this time but failed simply because he was looking under the wrong name. Once he learned the truth, his hatred for Han Li only deepened.

Although Dong Xuan Er was Yun Lu’s daughter, Wang Chan never truly trusted her. So when Han Li took her hostage, instead of rushing to save her, he accused her of deliberately getting caught. He was furious when she managed to escape again.

Wang Chan soon tracked Han Li and Nangong Wan’s trail to a hidden cave. But he still arrived too late. His anger flared when he learned that the masked man who had taken Dong Xuan Er hostage and rescued Nangong Wan was none other than Han Li. From that moment on, Han Li became his mortal enemy. Wang Chan swore he wouldn’t rest until he captured and tortured him.

On The Immortal Ascension ending, after searching everywhere, Wang Chan and his men found Han Li inside the quarry. At that time, Han Li has already activated the array. The blue light that emerged from the array formation revealed his presence. Wang Chan planned to kill Han Li and claim the array for himself. If he can present it to Yun Lu, he will gain many benefits.

However, as his men failed to kill Han Li, Wang Chan lost control and decided to fight Han Li directly. Unfortunately, he was too late (again). The array has been fully activated. Wang Chan could only watch in frustration and rage as Han Li flew into another unknown destination.

What Happened to Li Hua Yuan on The Immortal Ascension Ending?

The Seven Sect were planning to launch an attack on the Demonic Sect. They were unaware that Yun Lu was already knew of their plan because the Spirit Beast Mountain had betrayed them. The battle ended with The Seven Sect lose in a devastating defeat.

Realizing that they had reached a dead end, the Grandmaster of Yellow Maple Valley, Ling Hu, decided to surrender to The Demonic Sect. To save the sect, he agreed to exchange the sect safety with Hong Fu.

To deceive her, Ling Hu told Hong Fu to evacuate first and took Han Li with him. And out of everyone, including Hong Fu, only Han Li sensed that something was wrong with the plan.

When Li Hua Yuan learned that Hong Fu has departed, he got panicked. He told the sect leader Zhong to leave without him and went to see the Grandmaster. His fear was confirmed when he learned that the Grandmaster has defected.

Ling Hu said that sacrificing Hong Fu was necessary to preserve the sect. Heartbroken, Li Hua Yuan immediately set out to find Hong Fu.

Meanwhile, Hong Fu fell into ambush. The disciples were scattered, and Hong Fu has to face Hong Fen and her husband, the Skull, alone. Han Li and his fellow disciple fall into another trap set by Wang Chan. Outnumbered and trapped, Han Li was prepared for the worst when Li Hua Yuan suddenly appear to help him.

Li Hua Yuan gave Han LI a bag full of spirit gems and told him to share it with the remaining disciples. Then he handed the Core Cultivation manual for Han Li to keep. Han Li wanted to refuse, but Li Hua Yuan insisted.

A sense of foreboding crept into Han Li’s heart. He tried to stop Li Hua Yuan, but he was determined to help Hong Fu. Li Hua Yuan told Han Li that he has potential and someday will surpass him. He also said someday Han Li will understand that certain people’s life matter more than his own life.

Li Hua Yuan urged Han Li to leave Yue Kingdom as soon as possible and erase the Soul-Burning Spell on his hand.

Li Hua Yuan arrived just A Hong Fu was defeated by the Skull and Hong Fen. They fought side by side against their enemies. From above, Yun Lu, Dong Xuang Er, and Wang Chan watched the Yellow Maple Valley burned.

When they arrived at the place when Hong Fu and Li Hua Yuan fought, Hong Fu was already prepared to sacrifice herself. Li Hua Yuan shielded her. He fought Yun Lu with all his might and even sacrificing his core. But in the end, Li Hua Yuan cannot defeat a Nascent Soul cultivator like Yun Lu.

Hong Fu wept as she cradled Li Hua Yuan’s lifeless body. Dong Xuan Er tried to persuade her mother to surrender and joined them. Hong Fu refuse and told her daughter that she had to walk her own path.

Hong Fu summoned Li Hua Yuan’s dragon. She took his body, turned her back on everyone and left. Yun Lu was enraged by her defiance. She still chose to abandon him even though the Yellow Maple Valley was destroyed.

He nearly struck her down if only Dong Xuan Er didn’t stop him. Hong Fu took Li Hua Yuan back to the Yellow Maple Valley and laid him to rest by the riverbank.

On the end, when Grandmaster Ling Hu sensed Li Hua Yuan’s death, he began questioned his decision. But in a split second later, he hardened his heart and severed all ties with Hong Fu and the remaining disciples.

My Two Cents

Li Hua Yuan’s death broke my heart. The Grandmaster’s selfishness and indifference made me furious. Is it really true that once people reach the peak of power, they lose all sense of humanity?

The hanging ending was quite frustrating too. I really wanted to know what happens next. When Han Li comes out of seclusion, will he meet Nangong Wan or her “cousin”, Nangong Ping.

The whole things are hilarious. I can’t believe that the author actumally made Nangong Wan, the revered Grandmaster whose famous for her elegance and noble bearing, could lie and pretend to be someone else out of embarrassment. 😂😂

And if you pay attention on episode 29, there was a brief moment of eye contact between Nangong Wan and Zhong Wu, who quickly looked away. Since Zhong Wu came from the Spirit Beast Mountain, I can’t help but wonder if there was a secret connection between them.

Maybe, just maybe, Zhong Wu was her spy all along. And honestly, I begin to think that despite all his fluctuated emotions and arrogance, Wang Chan acts like one of those spoiled young prince/master from a historical drama. He was easily provoked and quick to lose control, thankfully his deduction skill was quite good.

Well, that’s all for today. Were you satisfied with the on The Immortal Ascension ending explained? did it make you excited for the next season? Because it sure did for me.

I’m so curious that I might ended up checking out the manhua, donghua, or even the novel just to find out what happened next. Anyway, thank you for stopping by. I’ll see you in another Drama Review or Ending Explained post.
