The Princess Royal Ending Explained

What Happened in The Past Life?

Li Rong believed that she was killed by Su Rong Qing. However, the reality is far more terrifying for her. Back then, only three people knew the formula of the Fragrant Beauty poison, and they were Su Rong Qing, Pei Wen Xuan, and Li Chuan. If Su Rong Qing and Pei Wen Xuan didn’t kill her, then there was only one person left, Li Chuan.

With a pained expression, Su Rong Qing revealed that all of them had killed her. It was him, Li Chuan, and Shangguan Ya who teamed up to kill her. Li Rong could not believe it at first. Then Su Rong Qing told her that it started when Li Rong found an alchemist who knew how to make elixirs. She recommended the alchemist to Li Chuan.

But Li Rong didn’t know that the alchemist was part of the nobles’ plan to kill Li Chuan. When Li Chuan began to feel unwell, he began to suspect her. Li Chuan couldn’t openly investigate Li Rong because she was the powerful regent who represented the noble families.

So Li Chuan decided to slowly poison Li Rong. Su Rong Qing knew about this and put an antidote that could slow down the effect of the poison into pouches that everyone carries.

It hurt Li Rong when she learned that Su Rong Qing could easily save her, but he didn’t. When Li Chuan’s illness worsened, he ordered Feng Ming to poison Li Rong to death. This happened after Li Chuan realized that Pei Wen Xuan firmly believed that Li Rong wouldn’t stage a coup, and he couldn’t bear to hurt Li Rong. Li Chuan decided to kill her to maintain the balance between the nobles and the commoners after his death.

When they knew that Li Chuan had made the decision, Shangguan Ya and Su Rong Qing took the opportunity to get rid of her as well. They needed her power to support Li Xin and prevent Li Ping from becoming the next emperor. There was a secret behind this arrangement.

Li Xin is not the child of Li Chuan. He is the son of Shangguan Ya and Su Rong Hua, the last bloodline of the Su family. He is the reason why Su Rong Hua killed Qin Zhen Zhen and why Li Chuan used castration to humiliate the Su family.

At the ending, the pitiful Li Rong was disgusted by the whole truth. Everyone around her is evil. She firmly believed that she had done everything she could for her brother and the country. But in the end, she is the victim of all the intrigues.

What Happened to Li Rong on The Princess Royal Ending?

Li Rong went to Li Chuan and told him about her “dream” in which he had become a worse emperor than their father. Li Chuan begged her to kill him. But Li Rong loved her brother deeply and couldn’t bear to kill him.

Li Rong decided to go to Qingzhou to avoid the power struggle in the palace. She told Pei Wen Xuan that he could stay in Huajing and help Li Chuan. Li Rong was shocked when Pei Wen Xuan told her that she was expecting a baby.

Meanwhile, the emperor summoned Li Chuan to the palace. Consort Rou, overhearing the order, decided that this was the best time to take action.

Li Rong was about to leave when Shangguan Ya rushed to her and reported that the Su family had joined forces with Consort Rou and the other noble families to stage a coup. All they have to do is wait for Li Chuan to kill the emperor. Thus, Li Chuan’s action would be a legitimate reason to get rid of him and appoint Prince Su as the puppet emperor.

Immediately, Li Rong sent a message to Pei Wen Xuan. She told him that she was in danger and asked him to protect her. This is her plan to protect Pei Wen Xuan. Thus, she went to the palace to stall for time.

Li Rong was able to stop her mother from killing her father. When she told her mother about the nobleman’s plan, the empress was shocked and decided to follow Li Rong’s plan.

After sending Li Chuan and the Empress out of the palace, Li Rong went back to her father. Li Rong told him about her “dream”, including the fact that Li Chuan would be a cruel emperor who would annihilate the Su family.

When it was time for the morning court, Li Ming told Li Rong to go on his behalf. He issued a decree making her the Regent Princess Royal and summoned the noble families. Having her act on his behalf showed that Li Ming trusted his daughter.

During the meeting with Su Rong Qing, Consort Ro, and the nobles, Li Rong managed to keep her composure. However, when she saw that Pei Wen Xuan was in danger, she couldn’t hide her nervousness.

Li Rong was relieved to see Pei Wen Xuan and was touched because he said that he had come back to bring her home or to die with her. When the fight between Su Rong Qing and Pei Wen Xuan broke out, Pei Wen Xuan shoved Li Rong into the hall and locked her in.

Li Rong waited in fear. Her heavy heart was relieved when the door opened and Pei Wen Xuan came to her unharmed. Li Rong was also happy to see that Li Chuan and Qin Zhen Zhen were also there. They went to Hanqiu Palace together.

Li Rong and the others arrived in time to see Consort Ruo threatening the Emperor. Li Rong tried to reason with Consort Ruo, but that only made her angrier and tried to kill her. Fortunately, Qin Zhen Zhen called for reinforcements in time. Consort Ruo died, followed by Su Rong Qing.

On The Princess Royal ending, three years later, at the morning court, Fulai, the emperor’s eunuch, read a decree appointing Li Rong as regent princess royal because Li Chuan wanted to live in seclusion with his wife, Qin Zhen Zhen.

Li Chuan also appointed Pei Wen Xuan, Shangguan Ya, and Cui Yu Lang to assist her in governing the country. Li Chuan also left her a letter saying that when Su Rong Hua and Shangguan Ya got married, they would return to the capital.

What Happened to Pei Wen Xuan on The Princess Royal Ending?

Pei Wen Xuan was ecstatic when he learned that Li Rong was pregnant. However, he withheld the news and told Li Rong only after she resolved her conflict with Li Chuan’s past life. Pei Wen Xuan said that he wanted her to make the decision at the most crucial moment in her life without any burden on her.

Pei Wen Xuan received information that it was Pei Li Xian who killed his father. He then called a family meeting and demanded his right to be the head of the Pei family. After Pei Wen Xuan revealed the death of Prince Su, the rest of the Pei family members decided to support him. Pei Wen Xuan also revealed to the elders that Pei Li Xian had killed his father.

When the Empress gave the order to arrest Consort Rou, Li Rong’s bodyguard reached Pei Wen Xuan and told him that she needed his help. Pei Wen Xuan rushed to save her, only to find out that it was Li Rong’s plan to keep him away from the capital.

Although he was angry, Pei Wen Xuan knew what he had to do to save Li Rong. He gathered the guards and visited the noble families to besiege and seal their mansions. He took them all hostage.

Inside the palace, Pei Wen Xuan spoke to the nobles. He told them that he was there to offer them a way out. If they were willing to surrender, there was still a chance to survive.

Pei Wen Xuan also revealed that it was Su Rong Hua who leaked the news of the coup. His words shocked the heads of the noble family, including Su Rong Qing. Pei Wen Xuan’s words were enough to make the nobles hesitate. He then used the opportunity to convince the nobles to follow the emperor’s wishes: pay taxes and completely abolish the royal selection system.

After the nobles left, Su Rong Qing gave the order to attack Pei Wen Xuan. He was saved after Li Chuan and Qin Zhen Zhen arrived with reinforcements.

Pei Wen Xuan, Li Rong and Li Chuan rushed to Hanqiu Palace to see the Emperor. While Li Rong tried to convince Consort Rou, Pei Wen Xuan chased after Su Rong Qing, who had already stamped the fake posthumous decree with the imperial seal.

Pei Wen Xuan and Su Rong Qing ended up fighting in Weiyang Palace. Su Rong Qing was lost with a serious wound. Pei Wen Xuan disregarded his feelings when he gave Su Rong Qing a medicine that could save his life. He also told Su Rong Qing to live on and start a new life under a different identity. However, Su Rong Qing made up his mind and chose death.

Three years later, Li Chuan went into seclusion. Pei Wen Xuan was appointed Right Chancellor and helped Li Rong to rule the country. Pei Wen Xuan also kept his promise and held a grand wedding for Li Rong. This time, they didn’t marry for convenience, but because they love each other.

What Happened to Su Rong Qing on The Princess Royal Ending?

When the Emperor summoned Li Chuan, Consort Rou sent a message to Su Rong Qing. She wrote that she would take action and needed the support of the Su family. Su Rong Qing couldn’t get his father to agree to his plan.

So Su Rong Qing drugged his father’s tea to take over the position of the head of the family. Then he ordered the Su family guards to follow his order and bring 8000 elite soldiers to the capital.

When the Emperor summoned the nobles to the palace, Su Rong believed that the Emperor had been taken hostage and that it was Li Chuan who had issued a fake decree.

When he arrived, Consort Rou, her children, and her brother were waiting for him. When they entered the Taiji Hall, they were shocked to see Li Rong at the podium. Su Rong Qing asked Li Rong not to interfere in today’s matter. He said that Li Chuan had led troops to surround the imperial palace and taken the emperor hostage.

Li Rong cut him off. She said that Li Chuan had never entered the palace and her father was safe and sound. The face of Consort Rou and the family heads who came with her turned ugly when they heard this.

Su Rong Qing asked the others to leave while he spoke to Li Rong privately. Then Consort Rou took his children to see the Emperor at Hanqiu Palace. Huayue was worried that the Emperor was still alive. Consort Rou assured her that he definitely wouldn’t be alive.

Su Rong Qing told Li Rong that since she had become regent, Li Chuan didn’t need to become crown prince. He proposed a plan where Li Rong would be the ruler while Li Chuan would live, but under a different identity.

Then Li Rong told him about what had happened in the past, but from a different perspective. The northern expedition was indeed an impulsive move. But if only the noble families weren’t corrupt and paid the taxes, the treasury wouldn’t be empty.

Li Rong criticized Su Rong Qing by saying that he always blamed Li Chuan. However, the situation wasn’t caused by just one person. However, Su Rong Qing was too stubborn to understand and accept his mistakes. Li Rong said that she had lived long enough to understand that her life should be dedicated to her righteousness. She hoped that he would find his original intentions and be himself forever.

Li Chuan and Qin Zhen Zhen were waiting outside the city. Lord Wang rushed into the hall and wanted to take Li Rong and hang her on the city wall, but Su Rong Qing stopped him.

Li Rong realized that they were outnumbered, and to avoid a bloodbath, she agreed to go with Lord Wang. Su Rong Qing persuaded her again. But Li Rong refused, saying that she didn’t want to owe him anything. Her words pierced his heart.

If you look closely, the city gate was the place where Shen Yu Rong died in The Double Died 😉 .

Su Rong Qing couldn’t keep the nobles inside the palace after Pei Wen Xuan managed to convince them. So while Pei Wen Xuan was fighting and Li Rong was locked in the hall, Su Rong Qing went to Hanqiu Palace.

In the emperor’s room, Consort Rou threatened the emperor and forced him to reveal where he had hidden the imperial seal. At first, the Emperor refused to tell them, but after Consort Rou stabbed him, he told them where he had hidden the seal.

After finding the seal, Su Rong Qing immediately stamped the posthumous edict he had prepared for Li Cheng. Suddenly, the door was open. Pei Wen Xuan entered the hall, followed by Li Chuan and Li Rong. Su Rong Qing took the edict and fled.

Pei Wen Xuan chased after him and they fought in the Weiyang Palace. All their grievances, hatred, anger and jealousy were expressed in an intense fight.

In the middle of the battle, Su Rong Qing heard that his men were subdued. He charged at Pei Wen Xuan, but when Pei Wen Xuan pointed his sword at him, Su Rong Qing didn’t dodge and let the sword pierce through his body. At the same time, Li Rong entered the room and saw them. The shock was clearly visible on her face.

Pei Wen Xuan left the room to let Li Rong talk to Su Rong Qing alone. When Su Rong Qing asked Li Rong about her decision to reform the system, Li Rong replied that she would still do it.

Li Rong believed that the nobles and commoners must have equal rights. This is the first step in eliminating discrimination and social disparity. It’s the only way to achieve world peace.

Su Rong Qing told her that he never wanted to hurt her and always wished her happiness. He didn’t propose to her in this life because he knew that Li Rong liked Pei Wen Xuan. He did many things that contradicted her because he only wanted to protect her. Su Rong Qing confessed that he had always loved her since he was ten years old in the past life.

Although Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan gave him one more chance to live, Su Rong Qing refused. He insisted on playing the guqin for Li Rong one last time.

When Li Rong realized that the title of the song was A Happy Farewell, it was too late. Su Rong Qing knocked down the candelabras that caused the fire to spread. Pei Wen Xuan tried to stop him, but it was in vain.

In the end, As Pei Wen Xuan was dragging her body, Li Rong shouted Su Rong Qing’s name, but he didn’t budge. In the end, Su Rong Qing, who was once the epitome of a noble young master in the capital, perished in the sea of fire. He never knew that his brother was calling his name over and over again outside the burning palace.

What Happened to Li Chuan on The Princess Royal Ending?

Li Chuan told Li Rong that he realized he wasn’t fit to be an emperor, and he didn’t want to be one. He just wanted to protect their mother and Li Rong. Li Chuan also wanted to be a good person and make sure that everyone in Great Xia was well fed, clothed, and free from the ravages of war.

Then Li Rong told Li Chuan about her “dream” where he became a person worse than her father who killed her sister. Li Chuan cried and begged Li Rong to kill him. He said that he would have no regrets if she killed him, and if everything in her dream was destined to come true, he would rather die. In the end, Li Rong decided not to kill him.

Li Chuan went to the palace after being summoned by the emperor. The Empress was already standing guard with the Shangguan family guards near the Emperor’s room. Inside the hall, Li Chuan asked the emperor why he could not accept him as his son.

The Emperor said that he was indeed his son, but he could not accept the Empress and the Shangguan family because they were greedy and heartless. The Empress heard his words, became angry, and told Li Chuan to kill the Emperor.

Li Chuan hesitated, so the empress grabbed the sword and attacked the emperor. Li Chuan tried to stop her. The situation calmed down after Li Rong entered the room and ordered Li Chuan to put down the sword.

Li Rong said that the emperor had poisoned Li Cheng and wanted to control him with the poison. Li Rong ordered the Empress and Li Chuan to leave the palace. Before they left, the emperor called Li Chuan.

The emperor told Li Chuan that if he killed the Shangguan family, he would give him the throne immediately. Li Chuan said that he would not sacrifice his mother and Li Rong for his own life. He would never be like his father.

To get him out of the palace, Li Rong had her guard knock out Li Chuan. With the help of Su Rong Hua, they took Li Chuan and the Empress out of the city. When Li Chuan saw Qin Zhen Zhen, he was very happy.

Li Chuan and Qin Zhen Zhen led the troops to the capital. They became Li Rong’s support. In no time, they managed to take over the palace from Su Rong Qing’s men. After Consort Rou died and her body was taken away, Li Chuan waited for his father to be treated by the physician. But he couldn’t be saved.

On his deathbed, the emperor called Li Chuan. Li Ming told Li Chuan to remember his words that he should never be like him. His last word to Li Chuan is “I’m sorry”. Li Chuan stares at his dead father and the tears fall like rain.

In the end, Li Chuan ascends the throne. He marries Qin Zhen Zhen and rules the country for three years before going into seclusion and leaving the country to Li Rong.

The Ending of Princess Royal Special Episode

The special episode is about the blissful married life of Pei Wen Xuan and Li Rong. Well, it wasn’t a 100% blissful life, because Li Rong still has the habit of throwing a vase at his head.

This happened seven years later. After being hit by a bottle, Pei Wen Xuan wakes up with amnesia. He can’t remember anything, including Tong Ye, his closest attendant. Pei Wen Xuan disobeyed Li Rong’s order to stay in the mansion and went to town with Tong Ye, who didn’t know that his master couldn’t remember anything. They listened to the storyteller’s narration of the lives of Princess Jiang Li and Mr. Xuan.

The storyteller also mentioned Mr. Qing, who had a secret affair with the princess. The story is similar to the past lives of Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan. Pei Wen Xuan believed the story to be true.

When Li Rong returned, they began to argue about court business again. Outside the room, two children were talking about their parents. The younger boy asked his sister if their parents were getting divorced.

The sister reassured him that their parents had always been like that. They have written many divorce letters, but things always get better the next day.

At the restaurant, Cui Yu Lang secretly gave Pei Wen Xuan a bottle of mysterious elixir. With the elixir, Pei Wen Xuan would finally be free. That night, Pei Wen Xuan put the elixir on Li Rong’s wine. It turned out that the elixir was not poison, but an aphrodisiac. 😂

The next day, Pei Wen Xuan woke up with hickeys on his neck and a sore body. And because he keeps hiding in the study, Li Rong throws another vase at him. But this time, it brings back all the missing memories. To atone for his mistake, Pei Wen Xuan kneels on the washboard accompanied by Tong Ye… 😂.

My Two Cents

I was disappointed in the Emperor. He acts high and mighty. The way he scolded Consort Rou is really humiliating for her. But when he was stabbed, he immediately said where he hid the seal. I guess he couldn’t stand any hardship. 🤷‍♂️

Meanwhile, Consort Rou was consumed with jealousy. She wanted to be like the Empress, who was born into a noble family and was always respected by others. She was also jealous that the emperor had built a pagoda for the empress, but she was often shouted at and beaten by him.

It was ironic that the pagoda was built to show the emperor’s love for the empress. But after that, he abandoned his wife and favored the concubines. Meanwhile, the concubine was jealous because the empress had a pagoda that represented the emperor’s love. Truly a crazy family.
