What Happened to Lin Wan Xing and Wang Fa on Road to Success Ending?
Lin Wan Xing and Wang Fa’s relationship finally begins to turn romantic after he jumped into the lake to retrieve the watch she accidentally dropped. But before their budding romance can fully bloom, Lin Wan Xing found out that Wang Fa has been investigating her over Jason’s death.
Feeling betrayed, she withdraws and distances herself from him. Eventually, Wang Fa resolved the issue by honestly explaining everything and showing her his investigation notes. Still, it isn’t enough to thaw Lin Wan Xing’s frozen heart overnight.
Because of the investigation, Lin Wan Xing realizes that someone had been impersonating her and using the identity of the Queen of Spades to deceive Jason. From the butterfly avatar, she guessed the culprit must be Xiang Zi, her senior in Yongchuan University. Xiang Zi has hated her ever since she rejected his confession.
Believing she was partly responsible for the death, Lin Wan Xing askes Wang Fa to investigate with her. Together, they come up with a plan to visit Xiang Zi under the pretense that Wang Fa needs counselling.
During the session, Xiang Zi deliberately tried to sway Wang Fa’s mind. He mentioned about Lin Wan Xing’s dark past, knowing she is secretly listening outside the room. Nervously, she waits for Wang Fa’s answers. He doesn’t disappoint.
He says that the present matters a lot more than the past. He has no interest in digging into her past because he trusts her. Just as Xiang Zi begins questioning Wang Fa’s motives for coming to Hongjing, Lin Wan Xing interrupt the session and they leave.
After they successfully trap Xiang Zi, he is arrested. Unfortunately, the investigation concludes that he suffers from mental instability, so he receives only a light punishment.
Yet, it doesn’t last long because Xiang Zi is soon released from the mental hospital and makes another move. He sends a message to Lin Wan Xing’s parents, prompting them to rush to Hongjin. It turned out that Lin Wan Xing’s parents are just as controlling and distrustful as Wen Cheng Ye’s parents. Their arrival brings back the pain to her.
Years ago, Lin Wan Xing’s professor had committed suicide. He left behind a goodbye note and her photograph. People immediately assumed that she had seduced him and become his mistress. Even Mr. and Mrs. Lin refused to believe their daughter.
Instead, they forced her to withdraw from university. Mr. and Mrs. Lin locked Lin Wan Xing at home and didn’t tell her about Lin Xun Ya’s death. Later, her grandmother fell ill after arguing with her aunt while defending Lin Wan Xing.
Eventually, Lin Wan Xing’s grandmother died as well. To Lin Wan Xing, her grandparents were the only people who truly loved her. Losing them while enduring endless rumors left scars that never really healed.
After countless ups and downs, and one huge falling-out between them, the football team finally begins to have a solid cooperation between them. Lin Wan Xing and Wang Fa also grow closer and officially become a couple. Wang Fa still doesn’t care if she has secrets. He respects her decision whether she wants to tell him or not.
But the rumors return. Someone digs up her past and reports it to the school principal, and Lin Wan Xing hides everything from Wang Fa.
Wang Fa learned the truth from Ju Li, after they discover that Lin Wan Xing has left town. He feels guilty because his earlier investigations only added to the pain she had silently endured.
All this time, Lin Wan Xing has gone through so much pain from being slandered, expulsion from university, and being locked up by her parents. Even so, she always put on a brave front to face the world.
While she is away, Ju Li temporarily takes over her role and Wang Fa does everything he can to lead the team to victory. He also asks Wang Tian and Yu Bo’s help to locate Lin Wan Xing, who was hiding in Hanling city. Wang Fa even visits countless dog cafes, hoping to find her in one of them.
Then the mystery person appeared again and contacts the football team. He asked whether the boys wanted expensive gifts or a chance to find Lin Wan Xing. The boys surely choose the latter. Then they received a fax. On the paper is a poem, an email address, completed with the password to open it.
The boys read all the emails Lin Wan Xing sends back. through them, the boys can feel how deeply she loves and supports them. Wang Fa also realizes just how much she loves him and how deeply he loves her in return.
Wanting to bring her home, Wang Fa asked the boys to make posters for her. It written on the posters, “Can you stay for us?” A personal message only for Lin Wan Xing. He also rents out a theatre.
When Lin Wan Xing arrives, a video made by the boys begins playing. between the video and the posters, her heart melts. And when Wang Fa appears, she throws herself to his arms. They kiss through tears in the middle of the empty theatre.
The boys throw a welcome party for their favorite supervisor. This time, Lin Wan Xing braced herself to tell them about her past. She didn’t want to give up on herself anymore because she realizes that she is no longer alone.
After reading the poem that the mystery person left them, Lin Wan Xing determined to find out who the person behind the anonymous identity. She also decides to return to the school and face everything. There, Director Qian tells her that Wang Fa has already filed a leave request on her behalf, giving her disappearance a legitimate reason.
With help from Fu Xin Shu, Cheng Jiang Ke, and Qin Ao, Lin Wan Xin concludes that the mystery person is Director Qian. But to her surprise, he isn’t the only one. Her Grandfather, Lin Xun Ya, her grandmother, and Jiang Xun, the son of Coach Jiang and Lin Xun Ya’s favorite student, have all been involved. They were all in this mission to save Lin Wan Xing and the football team.
Lin Xun Ya and his wife wanted Lin Wan Xing to stand back up, while Jiang Xun hoped to continue his father’s legacy to keep the football team playing. Together, they carefully planned for Lin Wan Xing to come to Hongjing and become the team’s supervisor. They all believed and hoped that Lin Wan Xing and the boys could heal and support each other.
And with renewed determination, Lin Wan Xing decides to confront Xiang Zi. She has secretly kept two pieces of evidence. The first is a travel photographs. One of the photos was secretly taken from her collection and placed on Professor Shu’s desk.
The second is surveillance footage showing “her” entering the professor’s hotel room. But the woman in the footage isn’t Lin Wan Xing at all. it’s someone who impersonated her almost perfectly.
Lin Wan Xing, Wang Fa, Qin Ao, Fu Xin Shu, and Wen Cheng Ye discover that the impersonator is Xiang Zi. However, the evidence still isn’t strong enough. To help her, Wen Cheng Ye and Qin Ao secretly went into Xiang Zi’s apartment to collect more proof.
They think that the clothes and wig he used was still inside the house. And it true. Xiang Zi kept it as a memento. But when Qin Ao was taking photos in his closet, he was caught by Xiang Zi. A fight breaks out. Fortunately, Lin Wan Xing and Wang Fa arrive just in time.
To Lin Wan Xing, Xiang Zi claims that he is just upholding justice for himself because Lin Wan Xing ruined him. According to him, Lin Wan Xing had been sending him flirtatious signals and stole his recommendation spot. Well, Professor Shu actually refused to recommend Xiang Zi after discovering that he falsified research data lacked integrity.
But then Xiang Zi reveals a darker secret. He also discovered that Professor Shu built his prestigious reputation on the same academic misconduct twenty years ago. Blackmailed by Xiang Zi, Professor Shu’s already fragile mental state collapsed. He took his own life in his office, leaving behind a farewell note for his wife.
However, Xiang Zi swapped the photograph with one of Lin Wan Xing, creating the impression that it was Lin Wan Xing who driven him to suicide. Xiang Zi also admitted that he was the one impersonating Lin Wan Xing at the hotel. He did all that because he was determined to destroy her reputation.
Lin Wan Xing finally decided to sue Xiang Zi. With the help of Professor Jia of Yongchuan University, Wang Fa managed to track down the sender of the hotel footage. And it was Xiang Zi. Armed with new evidence, Lin Wan Xing takes the case to the prosecutor office.
Inside the courtroom, all the evidence is presented. Yet, Xiang Zi remains calm. A smug smile hanging down on the corner of his lips. His lawyer still argues that Lin Wan Xing used her appearance to gain academic advantages and insists it is a fact rather than defamation.
On her final statement, Lin Wan Xing showed Xiang Zi that she is no longer afraid. She tells Xiang Zi that his malice stemmed from his inadequacy and jealousy. He destroyed the competitor he couldn’t beat and crushed the woman he couldn’t have.
Then Lin Wan Xing said, loud and clear, that why she should fear someone so incompetent like him. She also called him as a rat living in a sewer.
Xiang Zi immediately loses his composure, screaming that he will ruin her again just as he did before. His outburst immediately becomes a direct proof that he intentionally destroyed her reputation.
Xiang Zi loses the case, apologized publicly, and also faces legal punishment for Jason’s death. After everything settled, Wang Fa who was moved by everything Lin Wan Xing endured, decide to set up a legal aid fund for women
Later, Lin Wan Xing visits Wang Fa’s parents. She is surprised by how different they are. Wang Gen Fa is so warm, goofy, and cheerful. Meanwhile, Kang Qiao is composed and elegant. A civil engineering professor with a strong scholarly aura around her. even Wang Gen Fa called her Empress Dowager.
Initially, Lin Wan Xing worries that Kang Qiao and Wang Gen Fa would dislike her because of her past. But Kang Qiao gently tells her that the past didn’t matter. What matters is that Wang Fa can laugh and be happy again. Jason’s death has deeply hurt him, thanks to Lin Wan Xing, she can finally se her son genuinely happy.
On the way home, Lin Wan Xing tells Wang Fa that she envies his loving family. He holds her hand and says that from now on, his family will be her family too. The next day, Wang Fa surprises with a PhD application form for Yongchuan University. Wang Fa knew that finishing her studies has always been Lin Wan Xing’s biggest dream.
To prepare for the final match against Yongchuan Hengjiu, Wang Fa booked a training facility and hotel so the boys could focus on training. To celebrate, he took Lin Wan Xing for a drink and she gets completely drunk. Back home, she teases Wang Fa until he nearly loses his composure. In the end, though, he stays up working on match strategies while she peacefully sleeps at the bed.
The following morning, Lin Wan Xing publicly announce their relationship with a photo on her Moments. Meanwhile, Ju Li finally accepting her broken heart. She finishes the handmade bracelet for Lin Wan Xing.
Before she left, she impulsively joined a band on stage. That night Ju Li tells Lin Wan Xing that she is stronger than she thought. After putting on her star earrings (which symbolizes Lin Wan Xing), Ju Li quietly let go her feelings.
In the ending, Hongjing No. 8 High School defeats Yongchuan Hengjiu in the final and become the champion. On the boys’ graduation day, Lin Wan Xing writes a heartfelt letter for the team. She tells them that the hardest battle is always the one inside their own heart. The hardest part in life isn’t deciding to begin the journey but finding the determination to keep climbing toward the peak.
She hopes the boys will always have free minds and independent judgement. They could learn to understand themselves, discover what they truly love, and have the courage to fight for it. She ends the letter by wishing every one of them the very best on the road ahead.
What Happened to the Football Team on Road to Success Ending?
Wen Cheng Ye and Fu Xin Shu met when they were children at the hospital. Their friendship began with football. They played on the hospital rooftop, build puzzles, shared snacks, and quickly became inseparable.
Before being discharged, Wen Cheng Ye gave Fu Xin Shu a matching Messi keychain. Fu Xin Shu promised to keep it on his backpack forever. Funny thing is, Fu Xin Shu never knew Wen Cheng Ye’s name and always called him Bed Four. Wen Cheng Ye promised to tell him when they met again on his birthday.
But on the promised day, Wen Cheng Ye’s parents took him away to celebrate with his grandparents instead. When his parents got into argument, Wen Cheng Ye ran to the KFC where they had planned to meet. He waited and waited, but Fu Xin Shu never showed up.
Years later, Fu Xin Shu was overjoyed to learn that Bed Four was Wen Cheng Ye, his very first best friend. Unfortunately, When Wen Cheng Ye asked why he never came to KFC, Fu Xin Shu couldn’t bring himself to answer.
In the next football game, Hongjing played terribly. Their teamwork was a mess, especially between Wen Cheng Ye and Fu Xin Shu. Qin Ao saw Wen Cheng Ye brush aside Fu Xin Shu’s hand when he offered to help him up. But as Wang Fa’s said to Lin Wan Xing, Wen Cheng Ye had no intention of cooperating with his teammates.
His team couldn’t understand his move. They also couldn’t think as fast as Wen Cheng Ye when they faced a strong opponent. In the end, Hongjing was completely crushed, losing 11-0. Fu Xin Shu and Wen Cheng Ye were injured and the team thought it was Wen Cheng Ye who did it intentionally.
This becomes a huge friction between them and the team decided to kick Wen Cheng Ye out. Broken hearted and angry, Wen Cheng Ye decided to leave early using the fast train instead of riding the bus with the team. and although he didn’t against the team decision, Fu Xin Shu realize that everything Wen Cheng Ye did was because of him.
Wen Cheng Ye is a thorny person because his life was hard. His family is falling apart, his father is demanding and controlling. Worse, his father needs a DNA test to believe that Wen Cheng Ye is his son. For years, he was controlled and never loved by his parents. And when the only friend he had also abandoned him, this slowly destroyed Wen Cheng Ye from the inside.
Wang Fa and Lin Wan Xing visited Fu Xin Shu to talk about it. They encourage him to tell Wen Cheng Ye the truth because the reason he never came to the KFC meant everything to Wen Cheng Ye. After thinking it over, Fu Xin Shu made his decision.
Seven years ago, Fu Xin Shu’s father was taken to the police station for drunkenly assaulting someone. On the way home, he beat Fu Xin Shu’s mother, Guan Min Jie. Seeing that, Fu Xin Shu instinctively grabs a brick and hit his father. Instead of comforting him, Guan Min Jie became afraid he would grow up to be just like his father.
That was why she eventually choose to leave Fu Xin Shu in his grandmother’s care. Unfortunately, Wen Cheng Ye never heard the confession because his father deleted the messages. He only learned the truth the following day on his way to the counselling.
Once again Wen Cheng Ye run away from his father’s car and went straight to the train station. Meanwhile, the team only played with ten people and they were defeated. Wen Cheng Ye arrived late, apologized to everyone and the whole team cried together. From then on, the teamwork kept getting better and better.
In the following match, Wen Cheng Ye become the team’s core and tactical brain. It was a crucial game because another loss would eliminate Hongjing from the Youth League. Thanks to Wang Fa’s new lineup, Hongjing No. 8 High School won.
The boys were shocked when the rumors of Lin Wan Xing’s past resurfaced on the school forum. They panicked when they couldn’t reach her at all. They almost lost their will to play after learning Lin Wan Xing has leave them and Ju Li will replaced her as their supervisor.
It wasn’t that they reject her, but Lin Wan Xing was simply too important for them. Only after Wang Fa reminded them of the promise they made to Lin Wan Xing, did the boys regain their fighting spirit. They won the match, but it wasn’t the same without her.
After Wang Fa brought Lin Wan Xing back, the team spirit fully returned. Now as a solid team, the boys did everything they could to support Lin Wan Xing wholeheartedly.
With the help of Wen Cheng Ye, Fu Xin Shu, and Qin Ao, Lin Wan Xing uncovered evidence of Xian Zi impersonated her. On the trial day, Ju Li brings the whole team to the courthouse. The boys burst into cheers when they heard that Lin Wan Xing had won the case.
The team also visited Coach Jiang’s grave with Jiang Xun. One by one, they told him about their growth and dreams. They apologized for believing he had abandoned them. Tears filled everyone’s eyes as Jiang Xun reassured them that his father had always been proud of them.
Director Qian later surprised the team with a reward. If they won the championship, three players would receive special university admission. But whatever the result, he told them they would always be the best player in his heart.
The final was against the Yongchuan Hengjiu, a team under the Hengjiu group. The school gave the boys two weeks off for intensive training. Wang Fa paid for the best training facilities and hotel with his own money. To celebrate and help ease Lin Wan Xing’s nerves, Wang Fa took Lin Wan Xing out for drinks and accidentally got her completely drunk.
While tipsy, Lin Wan Xing signed the football and gave Wang Fa five (and more) consecutive bows to thank him. Wang Fa also signs the football. Wen Cheng Ye secretly added his signature too.
The team entered intensive training with a strong determination to win. Three days before the final, they were given a short break. Lin Lu and Qin Ao went to buy ice creams for everyone.
On the way back, Lin Lu stopped by a second-hand luxury boutique and bought a ring for his mother. Lin Lu has saving up his pocket money of a year to buy the special gift for her. Little did he know, the ring had once belonged to Fang Su Lun, the Yongchuan Hengjiu’s captain.
The day before the match, Qin Ao, Lin Lu, and Cheng Jiang He caught Fang Su Lun sneaking out of their room. Fang Su Lun admitted that he had stolen the ring from Lin Lu because it once belonged to his late mother. It was his stepmother who secretly sold the ring.
Su Lun was caught and the whole team members watch as the ring box fall out of his bag. In front of them all, Fang Su Lun admitted that he took the ring because it used to belong to his late mother. Three months after his mother died, his stepmother sold the ring. He had working to earn money so he could buy it back. But Lin Lu bought it first. Anxious, Fang Su Lun had acting on impulse and stole it.
Lin Wan Xing told the boys to solve the problem themselves. The had to choose between re reporting Fang Su Lun and weakening Hengjiu or forgiving him and winning fairly.
In the end, they team choose forgiveness because they wanted to defeat Yongchuan Hengjiu with their own ability. Fang Su Lun couldn’t hide his relief. Lin Lu returned the ring, and Fang Su Lun sign the IOU and promised to pay the debt.
On match day, everyone was excited. The parents of Hongjing players, including Mr. and Mrs. Wang, gathered to cheer them on. The school directors were there as well. Wang Tian and Yu Bo represented Hengjiu and become the opposite of Wang Fa and the Wang couple. The match was intense and ended with Wen Cheng Ye scoring just before the final whistle.
One year later. The school has a new sport equipment attendant. Lin Wan Xing has resumed her studies. Ju Li is enjoyed life with her band. Wang Fa and Yu Bo have opened a youth football academy. Wang Fa serving as the head coach and principal while Yu Bo handles the business side.
The team secretly arranged a surprise birthday party for Lin Wan Xing. Zhen Fei Yang had a premium beef flown in from Shandong. He is now a university student and a famous vlogger with millions of followers. Wen Cheng Ye continue his study in the US but managed to return to China in time. Fu Xin Shu now a student at Hongjing University, while Lin Lu has become a famous streamer.
One by one, the boys appeared in a group video call to wish Lin Wan Xing a happy birthday and share heartfelt messages. All of them were grateful they had meet her because, with Lin Wan Xing’s help, they could finally see a clear future instead of remaining clueless teenager who didn’t know their dreams and what they wanted from life.
What Happened to the Queen of Spades on Road to Success Ending?
Queen of Spades’ real identity is Xiang Zi, Lin Wan Xing’s senior. He also joined the exchange program to England with her. After Lin Wan Xing rejected his confession, he grew to hate her and began plotting his revenge.
Lin Wan Xing and Wang Fa devised a plan to expose Xiang Zi. They visited him and pretending to a client who need counselling. They pulled several tricks, from acting like loving couple to creating a website as a bait.
The plan worked, and during the session, Xiang Zi tried to manipulate Wang Fa by revealing Lin Wan Xing’s dark past. Knowing Wang Fa was unaware of it, Xiang Zi hoped to drive a wedge between them. But it didn’t work. Instead, Wang Fa and Lin Wan Xing gathered solid evidence that Xiang Zi was the one who pretended to be Queen of Spades and was the one behind Jason’s death.
When they confronted him, Xiang Zi admitted he hated Lin Wan Xing because she never paid attention to him and he always felt inferior to her. Torturing her became his way of getting revenge. Xiang Zi even try to stab Lin Wan Xing before Wang Fa stopped him. The police were called and he was arrested. However, because he was deemed mentally unstable, Xiang Zi only received a light punishment.
After being released from the mental hospital, Xiang Zi sent message to Lin Wan Xing’s parents, forcing them to come to Hongjing. They wanted to her home and make her quit teaching. Xiang Zi’s real goal was to separate her from Wang Fa. But the plan failed thanks to Wang Fa’s father who convinced the Lin couple to return home.
Xiang Zi didn’t give up. He spread the old rumours about Lin Wan Xing and Professor Shu until they reached Hongjing. The gossips spiralled out of control, forcing Lin Wan Xing to leave the school and the city. It was Wang Fa who brought her back.
This time, Lin Wan Xing refused to run away. She gathered new evidence and took the case to the prosecutor office. Inside the courtroom, Xiang Zi remained confident. He believes that he was invincible, until the hotel footage was played.
The video showed Xiang Zi outside Professor Shu’s room, rubbing his neck before entering. Another clip showed him making the same exact gesture without any disguise. Only then did the smile disappear from his face.
Xiang Zi finally lost his composure after hearing Lin Wan Xing’s final statement. She told him that she wasn’t afraid of someone as incompetent like him and even called him a rat living in sewer. Furious, Xiang Zi shouted at her until the court officers restrained him.
According to the law, Xiang Zi was pronounced guilty and ordered to publicly apologized to Lin Wan Xing publicly. But it didn’t end there. The police also identified him as a suspect in inciting Jason, a minor, to die by suicide overseas. This case could lead to additional criminal charges.
My Two Cents
After watching this drama again and again, I conclude that there were a few things that didn’t need to be included into the ending. Take Lin Lu’s ring plot for example. It felt like a waste of time. I’d rather have seen more of the final match instead. Yes, I know this part was meant to show how righteous the Hongjing team was.
But was it necessary? Nah. I don’t think so. There were also unanswered questions like who receive the special university admission? Why bother mention it if you’re not going to tell us the answer? I was dying with curiosity. 😩
