Later, I Laughed Ending Explained
What Happened to Wu Xiu Ya on Later, I Laughed Ending?
Li Dong Mei’s anger and disappointment toward Wu Xiu Ya stemmed from her disappointment in her own life. Li Dong Mei sacrificed her career to follow Wu Guo Dong because she was afraid that her in-laws would nag her. As time went by, Wu Guo Dong was no longer an understanding husband who was willing to face difficulties together and support her when she was in need.
Physically and mentally exhausted, Li Dong Mei realized that a woman must find a reliable husband if she wants to live a happy life. In her eyes, Shi Ye, who had no stable job, no financial security, and was against marriage, was no different from Wu Guo Dong. Therefore, she didn’t want her daughter to fall into the abyss.
When Li Dong Mei saw her daughter working in harmony with Zheng Hao, she couldn’t help but ask him if they could start over. This awkward question was left unanswered because the nurse had come to take her away.
Wu Xiu Ya had calculated every penny she had spent on her mother, and planned to pay Zheng Hao after her father returned from the mountain. Zheng Hao said that he didn’t mind helping her. After speaking with Zheng Hao, Wu Xiu Ya realized that he had changed. She also said that she didn’t hate Zheng Hao. When they dated, Wu Xiu Ya didn’t like the way she used to be.
Recently, Wu Xiu Ya was conflicted. She began to wonder what kind of life she wanted to lead. It started after she overheard her mother’s conversation with Shi Ye. However, she began to see things more clearly after she had a heated argument with her mother.
Back then, Li Dong Mei told her to take a shower, but Wu Xiu Ya could not bear to leave her alone. Shi Ye came to her aid. He said his car was outside the hospital and she could take a shower there. When she got out of the car, Wu Xiu Ya saw Manager Hu and her former colleagues coming to the hospital. They came to visit Li Dong Mei and gave her a large amount of money. Wu Xiu Ya tried to return it to them, but they refused.
Wu Xiu Ya felt uncomfortable accepting the money. Tears started to well up in her eyes, but she wiped them away before she went back to the ward. Inside, Li Dong Mei cried silently. She said she pitied her daughter. She didn’t know who was going to take care of Wu Xiu Ya when she was gone. Wu Xiu Ya exploded at her words. She said that she was doing well and that Li Dong Mei was still going to live for a long time.
Li Dong Mei said that Zheng Hao’s mother and her former colleague’s kindness made her feel like a beggar.
Wu Xiu Ya couldn’t contain her emotions. Tears fell as she said her life was good. She will do the job she loves and make a lot of money to buy a big house. Then she will marry someone who understands her, give birth to a child, and Li Dong Mei will watch the child grow up.
Wu Xiu Ya decided to be happier than Li Dong Mei. However, Li Dong Mei’s question left her speechless. Her mother said that if she wants to get married, who is the man? if it was Shi Ye, he was against marriage. The two of them screamed and shouted, unaware that Shi Ye was listening from behind the door.
Wu Xiu Ya told Xiao Lan that she just realized that she has a vision for the future, but it is different from Shi Ye’s. However, she didn’t know what to do about her relationship with Shi Ye. Before she made up her mind, Shi Ye had already asked her to break up with him. He said that he didn’t want his feelings to be tied up with other things.
Wu Xiu Ya told her father that she had made her mother angry. But she didn’t know how to make her happy. If she would live as she wished, Li Dong Mei would be miserable. On the other hand, if she made her happy, she wouldn’t be able to live the life she wanted to live.
Wu Guo Dong thought about Wu Xiu Ya’s words. When he was at the nurses’ station, Wu Guo Dong listened to the conversation between Wu Xiu Ya and Xiao Lan. It made him decide that he was going to support Wu Xiu Ya and her dream of becoming a stand-up comedian.
That same night, Wu Xiu Ya had a heart-to-heart talk with Wu Guo Dong. All the resentment she felt over the incident with the red dress when she was young has been wiped out that night.
On the first day of the competition, Wu GuoDong and Li Dongmei were seen sitting in the audience. Li Dong Mei didn’t laugh at Wu Xiu Ya’s performance. But when she left the building, she started giggling and said her daughter was funny. Wu Xiu Ya’s performance was seen by many of her former colleagues, including Mrs. Wu and, surprisingly, Xu Yun Feng.
Xiao Lan asked Wu Xiu Ya what she would do now that she had broken up with Shi Yie and the Banghe Bar was closed. She couldn’t go back to her old job either. Then Wu Xiu Ya had an idea. She asked Xiao Lan to lend her some money because she wanted to take over Banghe Bar.
Wu Xiu Ya’s idea made Xiao Lan excited, and she immediately said that she would also invest in the business. The two of them immediately called the landlord.
But their first step was interrupted by someone else who wanted to rent the Banghe Bar building. Unexpectedly, their competitor is Zheng Hao. So the three of them joined hands to become the owners of Banghe Comedy Bar.
Meanwhile, Wu Xiu Ya and Shi Ye entered the semi-finals. Shi Ye went on stage and delivered his lines. Somewhere in the middle, jokes become confessions. An explanation for their end. No one laughed because it was not a joke.
But Wu Xiu Ya, listening behind the stage, understood the implication. Wu Xiu Ya knows that if Shi Ye is really going to deliver his jokes, then she won’t have a chance to get into the final round.
Before the finale, Li Dong Mei had a successful operation. She and Wu Guo Dong decided to borrow Shi Ye’s RV and set out to travel around the country. It was a perfect end to her unhappy life.
Before the finals, Wu Xiu Ya’s rival spread a rumor that Wu Xiu Ya had won because of her gender and attractive appearance. However, Wu Xiu Ya said that women can do stand-up comedy and still look pretty. So on the final night, Wu Xiu Ya came out dressed in a flattering red coat, ready to perform.
What Happened to Shi Ye on Later, I Laughed Ending?
Shi Ye and Wu Xiu Ya have a good relationship. But when Li Dong Mei came, Wu Xiu Ya hid it from her. Shi Ye didn’t mind, although he felt some discomfort in his heart.
When Shi Ye found out that Li Dong Mei was hospitalized, he rushed to the hospital with a fruit basket. In the ward, he saw that Wu Xiu Ya was with Zheng Hao. The situation became even more embarrassing when Zheng Hao’s childhood friend arrived with Director Wang. They heard her address Li Dong Mei as Zheng Hao’s future mother-in-law.
Shi Ye said he didn’t mind, but his heart told him otherwise. Especially when Li Dong Mei showed a marked difference in treatment between him and Zheng Hao. A seed of insecurity began to grow in his heart when he thought that he hadn’t been able to help her and when he saw Wu Xiu Ya and her mother walking side by side with Zheng Hao.
Li Dong Mei finally learned that Shi Ye was Wu Xiu Ya’s new boyfriend. Since she was unhappy with Shi Ye, she took him to the rooftop to have a private talk. Li Dong Mei told him everything about her marriage and how unhappy she was with her life.
As a wife and mother, Li Dong Mei has experienced all the difficulties in life, including financial security. Worried about Wu Xiu Ya’s future, she told Shi Ye to find a stable job. However, Shi Ye refuses to comply. He said that he was still young and should enjoy the present. When Li Dong Mei found out that Shi Ye didn’t want to marry, she couldn’t stop worrying about her daughter.
During Li Dong Mei’s hospitalization, Shi Ye often came to help Wu Xiu Ya. One time, Manager Hu and Wu Xiu Ya’s ex-colleague came and gave Wu Xiu Ya a big red envelope. When Shi Ye arrived at the hospital, he heard the mother and daughter arguing.
Wu Xiu Ya shouted that one day she would find a loving and understanding husband. She would live a good life and give birth to a son. Her financial situation would be good, so she could buy Li Dong Mei a big house and take her abroad.
Shi Ye immediately realized that he could not fulfill any of Wu Xiu Ya’s dreams. He didn’t want to get married and he didn’t have a stable job to give her financial security to fulfill her dream. Shi Ye was never going to be the right candidate for Wu Xiu Ya’s future.
His mind was weighed down by the argument and Wu Xiu Ya’s words. After thinking it over, Shi Ye decided. After Da Yong’s farewell party, only he and Wu Xiu Ya were left on the sidewalk. He hugged her and whispered: “Let’s break up.” Wu Xiu Ya was shocked and asked why. Shi Ye only replied that he did not want his feelings to be tied up with other things. Wu Xiu Ya didn’t say much. She just turned around and left. Her eyes glistened with tears.
After that, there was not much interaction between them. When they met at the competition, Shi Ye and Wu Xiu Ya showed a casual interaction. Both of them made it to the semi-finals. However, Shi Ye changed his lines and expressed his feelings and emotions on stage.
It was not a joke, so no one laughed. However, Wu Xiu Ya understood what Shi Ye wanted to say. He gives her a thorough explanation of their breakup. Because of this, Shi Ye loses.
Shi Ye was surprised when Wu Xiu Ya’s parents came to see him. However, they didn’t come to see him about their daughter. Wu Guo Dong and Li Dong Mei came to borrow his RV. They wanted to fulfill Li Dong Mei’s dream of traveling in a caravan like in the movie. Shi Ye agreed to give them the RV after he cleaned it.
Another surprise came when Shi Ye was cleaning the RV. It was Zheng Hao. He explained that he was now the owner of the new Banghe Comedy Bar and offered to be a regular performer. The awkwardness disappeared as Zheng Hao casually helped him clean the RV.
In the end, the two of them worked side by side, arguing like old friends. When Shi Ye said that he wanted to win back Wu Xiu Ya, Zheng Hao told him that he had the same intention. The two of them decided to have a fair competition. Since then, Shi Ye has become a regular performer at the bar.
Shi Ye came when Wu Xiu Ya was performing in the finals. He was stunned to see her dressed up and wearing a bright lipstick.
What Happened to Zheng Hao on Later, I Laughed Ending Explained?
Zheng Hao helped Wu Xiu Ya with hospital matters and payment when Li Dong Mei was hospitalized. His mother also sends some soup for Li Dong Mei. Although Mrs. Zheng still holds a grudge against Wu Xiu Ya for making Zheng Hao look like a fool, she understands that Wu Xiu Ya’s mother didn’t do anything wrong. Li Dong Mei is just a mother who wants the best for her daughter.
When they talked about their situation, Zheng Hao learned that Wu Xiu Ya wasn’t with Xu Yun Feng. Wu Xiu Ya didn’t hate him either. She hated her fake self. Zheng Hao said that he was happy that Wu Xiu Ya accepted all his help. It means that Wu Xiu Ya hadn’t let go of her past either. Otherwise, she would refuse all his help. With this new enlightenment, Zheng Hao seemed to see a new hope.
Unexpectedly, Zheng Hao began to develop an interest in stand-up comedy after seeing Wu Xiu Ya’s performance. He then developed a plan to open his stand-up comedy bar, and has been working on the business plan in between his busy work schedule. His good friend Zhang Yan didn’t understand why the cool-headed Zheng Hao suddenly developed a liking for this art.
Zhang Yang thought that Zheng Hao hadn’t let go of his feelings for Wu Xiu Ya. Well, he was partly right. Yes, Zheng Hao hadn’t forgotten Wu Xiu Ya. However, his plan to reopen the Banghe Bar was because of his love for stand-up comedy.
Using his savings as capital, Zheng Hao began to negotiate the rent with the landlord of Banghe Bar. But just as he was about to close the deal, the landlord told him that another party had offered a higher price. Greedy as he was, the landlord considered their offer. He even invited the other party to a meeting.
Fearing that he might lose his dream, Zheng Hao went to see the other party. He was surprised to find that it was Wu Xiu Ya and Xiao Lan. At his suggestion, the three of them joined hands to become the new owners of the Banghe Comedy Club.
On the ending, in order to keep the performance on stage, Zheng Hao approached Shi Ye and offered him to work as a regular performer at the bar. Shi Ye didn’t refuse. Zheng Hao also mentioned that he planned to pursue Wu Xiu Ya again.
What Happened to the Banghe Bar Group Members on Later, I Laughed Ending Explained?
Xiao Lan and Xiao Dong
Xiao Lan was on a trip with her parents to celebrate her father’s birthday. She was not in Shanghai when Da Yong decided to close the Banghe Bar.
Xiao Dong was disappointed. In Shanghai, Xiao Dong had no home. And the only place he considered home was the bar. It was the only comfortable place for him to let his mind relax. When he was drunk, Xiao Dong called Xiao Lan. He cried and asked when Xiao Lan would come back, saying that he liked her very much.
After the bar closed for good, Xiao Dong returned to his study. When Xiao Lan arrived, he was at the pier measuring the length of the fish for his experiment.
Meanwhile, on Xiao Lan’s side. After that night’s video call, she rushed back to Shanghai. Xiao Lan asked Xiao Dong what he had told her during the call. At first, Xiao Dong told her that it was just a drunken conversation.
But after seeing her leave in a huff, Xiao Dong finally told Xiao Lan that he liked her. Xiao Lan was so happy because she liked him too. The two lovebirds embraced on the pier under the shocked eyes of their classmates.
Xiao Lan’s parents no longer push her to study abroad. Studying was never on her list of interests. To her surprise, Xiao Lan’s father gave her a large amount of money to start a business.
Wu Xiu Ya asked Xiao Lan to lend her 400,000 Yuan to take over Banghe Bar. Xiao Lan refused to lend her the whole 400,000 yuan. She only gave her half of the money. The rest was considered her investment in the bar. Now, with a new plan in their minds, Xiao Lan and Wu Xiu Ya decided to become the new owners of Banghe Bar.
After the Banghe Bar reopened, on the ending, Xiao Lan would be in charge of bartending, while Wu Xiu Ya and Zheng Hao would be in charge of management and cashiering.
Da Yong
Da Yong’s wife nagged him about the bar. Her disappointment in Da Yong had reached its peak, and she threatened to divorce him. Da Yong had no choice. With a bitter heart, he announced that he would stop running the bar and return to his hometown with his wife.
When the stand-up competition was held, Da Yong decided to participate. He told his friends that this would be his last performance. He felt that if he did not enter the competition, he would regret it for the rest of his life. Da Yong felt that he had to try one last time to make it through and retire with glory.
At the ending, Da Yong managed to pass the initial stage, but later he failed. Back at his home, Da Yong watched Wu Xiu Ya and Shi Ye fight in the competition. When Wu Xiu Ya made it to the grand finals, he came to watch her perform live.
My Two Cents
Li Dong Mei’s excessive concern for Wu Xiu Ya’s life was understandable. I realized that she was afraid that Wu Xiu Ya would lead an unhappy life like her. Li Dong Mei is a housewife with no job and no income, and relies solely on her husband. Although her marriage was unhappy, she had nowhere to go and no money to start an independent life. It was very frustrating for Li Dong Mei, who used to enjoy her life and dream of freedom.
In the end, I shipped Wu Xiu Ya with Zheng Hao. He showed us that he was not a male chauvinist. Zheng Hao proved that he had a broad mind and was willing to change for the better. Shi Ye still has a long way to go if he wants to defeat him.
