That morning, I was going to start writing my article on New Chinese Dramas premiered in September 2025. As usual, I opened my web browser, ready to check my social media. The first thing that appeared was news from Cdramaland about Yu Meng Long, also known as Alan Yu. But this time, it wasn’t news about his new Chinese drama. It was heartbreaking news of his passing.
News Regarding Yu Meng Long
Early on September 11, 2025, news about Yu Meng Long sudden death began circulating. At first, these were only rumours as no official announcement regarding his death had been made.
A Weibo user wrote that on September 10, 2025, Yu Meng Long was reportedly having dinner with his good friends at a friend’s house in Beijing. Later that night, he went to rest in a bedroom and locked the door from the inside.
Around 6.00 AM, a resident found a body on the ground and called the police. When Yu Meng Long’s friends were leaving the apartment, they discovered his body. It was also reported that one of the windows on the fifth floor was broken. The police have been notified, and investigations are still ongoing.
In the evening, Yu Meng Long’s management team confirmed his death in a Weibo post. It was said that Yu Meng Long fell to his death on September 11, and the authorities have ruled out any criminal activity. They also expressed their condolences, wishing him peace and strength for his loved ones.
Yu Meng Long was Only 37 Years Old
For me, he held a special place in my heart. Back in 2017, I was working on my thesis, a demanding and exhausting task. Since I spent long hours in the lab, waiting for my bacteria to grow, I often had long periods of idle time.
At first, I would read journals, review my work, or discuss results with colleagues. But sometimes, I felt drained and needed a moment to step away from the routine. That was when I discovered Cdramaland and all of its magic. Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossom was my first Cdrama. Aside from Bai Qian and Ye Hua, Bai Zhen is a character who stirs my feelings.
He was such a devoted brother to Bai Qian, and since then, I’ve considered Yu Meng Long as a brother figure in Cdramaland. Yet in my country, Yu Meng Long remained relatively unknown.
Yu Meng Long was more than an actor. He was also a singer and MV director. He debuted as a singer in 2007 and released numerous singles. In 2011. Yu Meng Long began his acting career.

People started to recognize him after Jiu Wang in Go Princess, Go! Alongside Sheng Yi Lun and Zhang Tian Ai. There were several dramas that I remember him vividly as the main lead.
In The Legend of White Snake, he played Xu Xuan, in The Love Lasts Two Minds as Jing Ci, in The Moon Brightens for You as Lin Fang, and as Nan Feng Yi in A Love Story of Oiled Paper Umbrella.
Yu Meng Long also delivered memorable performances as a supporting or guest role in dramas such as Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossom as Bai Zhen, Love Game in Eastern Fantasy as Li Zhun, Hidden Master as Quan Neng Xia, and as Xuan Tian envoy in Feud drama with Bai Lu and Zeng Shun Xi.
It was sad when a life was cut short so suddenly. I hope that Yu Meng Long’s memory will not only remain in the hearts of his fans, family, and friends but also serve as a reminder of how precious and fleeting life can be.
