What Happened to Wu Zhen and Mei Zhu Yu on Moonlit Reunion Ending?
Wu Zhen lose her memory. Although it made her become the bubble and lively Wu Zhen, Mei Zhu Yu couldn’t shake his guilt. He chose to avoid her and slept in a separate room. Nevertheless, he could never hide his love for her. To help her regain her memory, Mei Zhu Yu took her to the Changxi Palace.
After Chang Ming died, the sect master position was vacant. Xiao Mu became the acting sect master, and the rest of the work was distributed among the disciples. Xiao Mu is just and wise, so the Changxi Palace should regain its glory under his leadership.
One day, while walking through the forest, Wu Zhen accidentally triggered one of Chi Hua’s formations. Instinctively, she took a stance to shield him. Mei Zhu Yu was surprised that Wu Zhen could summon the Changxi Mace from his jade pendant. No one had ever done that before, not even Chang Ming.
Xiao Mu gave Mei Zhu Yu a key to the archive room so he could try to find an answer for Wu Zhen. At the same time, he realized Wu Zhen’s keen interest in the Changxi Palace’s martial arts. Boldly, she declared her ambition to master both demonic arts and martial arts. Impressed by her determination, Mei Zhu Yu offered his guidance.
Mei Si saw the demon wounds starting to show on Wu Zhen’s body. He went to the secret archives looking for answers but instead found an artifact that could take him back to the past.
Determined to help Wu Zhen through her tribulation, he asked his brothers for help. Xiao Mu refused at first, saying it was way too dangerous for Mei Zhu Yu. But in the end, he gave in after Mei Zhu Yu said he couldn’t just sit there doing nothing while his enemy was draining the life out of the woman he loved.
So, Mei Zhu Yu used the Celestial Palace’s artifact and went back eighteen years. He wanted to see how the former Cat Master sealed the primordial core and find a way to protect her.
Mei Zhu Yu went back to the exact moment when the Sinister Fiend Infant entered Wu Zhen’s body. A black cat walked up to her, and to his shock, Mei Zhu Yu realized that the former Cat Master was actually his own father.
Three days later, Wu Zhen woke up with her memories back. Outside, Hu Zhu had already come to pick her up. But she was no longer the cheerful, bubbly wife Mei Zhu Yu once had. She had gone back to the cold, distant Cat Master. When she asked about Mei Zhu Yu, Xiao Mu told her he had already left because she didn’t want to see him.
The truth was, Mei Zhu Yu was lying sick in one of the palace bedrooms. Before she left, Xiao Mu handed her a book of mantras related to the Changxi Mace. It was something Mei Zhu Yu had prepared for her.
Back in Chang’an, Mei Zhu Yu has already made preparations to leave. When Wu Zhen came to the Mystical Appraisal Bureau, she discovered that he had applied for a leave of absence and wrapped up all his works. Only then did she realize how much she missed him.
Wu Zhen returned to the Demon Market after she discovered Xuan Hui’s death, only to learn that Wu Zi Shu has betrayed her by colluding with Elder Hui. From him, she learned that Sinister Fiend Infant would soon awaken and take over the world.
After Wu Zi Shu died, Wu Zhen went back to the Demon Market again, only to see demons slaughtered and her friends were imprisoned. She went to the dungeon to save them but fell right into Elder Hui’s trap. Just when things looked hopeless, Mei Zhu Yu appeared.
Wu Zhen said that only the power of two masters could open the prison. And right in front of her, Mei Zhu Yu cut his palm, and his blood was able to open the prison door. Still in shock (again), Wu Zhen suddenly remembered something.
A new memory surfaced in her mind, one from eighteen years ago when she first saw Mei Zhu Yu. This new memory was created after Mei Zhu Yu travelled to the past.
When he saw Wu Zhen, Mei Zhu Yu couldn’t hide his feelings. As soon as the door opened, he pulled her into his arms. He remembered what his father had said about the Sinister Fiend Infant being immortal. Demonic and celestial arts could resist him for a while, but they couldn’t destroy his primordial core.
By that time, the former Cat Master didn’t have a choice but to pass his Cat Master’s power to Wu Zhen and seal the core within her. And it will be binding her life and her fate as a half-demon. Mei Zhu Yu begged his father to put the core inside his own body instead. And now, he was the one carrying it. His body has begun to deteriorate.
Mei Zhu Yu freed the Serpent Masters and other imprisoned demons. Liu Tai Zhen and the rest were stunned to see him and Wu Zhen standing together.
To stop Elder Hui, they went to the human world. he was by the pond, using his power to crack open the Celestial Barrier. Just as they prepare to fight, the masters of Changxi Palace arrived, led by Xiao Mu.
They set up a formation to keep the barrier intact and trap the Sinister Fiend Infant inside the Demon Market. On the other side of the barrier, the demons joined forces to hold it steady.
Using her full demon power, Wu Zhen managed to defeat Elder Hui. However, the fragments of the Sinister Fiend Infant’s soul still slipped through. Black smoke burst from the pond and flew straight toward Wu Zhen.
Mei Zhu Yu stepped in front of her, blocking it. Because of this, Wu Zhen noticed the demonic wounds on Mei Zhu Yu’s body. Only then did she understand, Mei Zhu Yu had changed her fate and taken the primordial core into himself eighteen years ago.
Facing her disbelief, Mei Zhu Yu said that he was only reclaiming what had always been his. Eighteen years ago, the young Mei Zhu Yu was walking down the street carrying a small lantern. He almost fell down the stairs, and the young Wu Zhen helped him up.
Since her lantern had broken, he offered his and she happily accepted. Who would have known that the lantern was special because it carries the power of the Cat Master. And whoever took it, would be chosen by the Sinister Fiend Infant.
Even though it wasn’t his fault, Mei Zhu Yu still carried the guilt of what happened to Wu Zhen. Knowing that the only way to destroy the Sinister Fiend Infant was to kill its host, Mei Zhu Yu drew the Changxi Mace and gave it to her. He told her to do what she had to do. However, killing her beloved never crossed her mind and Wu Zhen promptly refused.
They were still arguing, when the Celestial Barrier finally broke. The demons and the masters were not powerful enough to stop him. The whole fragments of Sinister Fiend Infant burst from the barrier straight to the sky of Chang’an.
Mei Zhu Yu entrusted the Changxi Mace to her and let the Sinister Fiend Infant use his body. Numerous fragments pierced Mei Zhu Yu before her eyes, yet he still urged Wu Zhen to kill him because she was the only one who could lift the mace.
Although it was hard for her, Wu Zhen made up her mind after hearing that the Sinister Fiend Infant planned to rebuild his own Demon Market and become the new ruler of the world.
After all fragments had entered Mei Zhu Yu’s body, Wu Zhen stepped forward, pointed the mace at him, but still hesitating. She closed her eyes and recalled the time she learned Changxi Mace mantra during her time at the Changxi Palace. And with that, she activated the mace and thrust it into Mei Zhu Yu’s heart without a second thought.
The Sinister Fiend Infant never thought she would truly kill Mei Zhu Yu to destroy him. He vanished into the sky. The worlds returned to a peaceful state, leaving the devastated couple, Mei Zhu Yu and Wu Zhen, behind.
Three months later, the world slipped back into routine. Wu Zhen stayed at Mei Zhu Yu’s house while managing the Demon Market each day. Mei Zhu Yu, however, lay in bed, deep in his sleep.
She teased him, saying that even though a great demon has a long lifespan, he shouldn’t waste his time like that. If he kept on sleeping, she would really be angry with him. After she left, Mei Zhu Yu’s eyes opened, revealing a pair of glowing yellow cat’s eyes.
What Happened to Liu Tai Zhen and Mei Si on Moonlit Reunion Ending?
Xuan Hui cannot ascend to become a dragon because he still has worldly matters weighing on his mind. And the burden is Mei Si’s happiness. He went to confront Liu Tai Zhen but learned that the one Mei Si loved was not her.
A snake hunter spread the news of a big snake that had entered the city of Chang’an. The frightened people started burning sulphur, and in no time, the city filled with yellow smoke. Liu Tai Zhen was in her carriage when she inhaled the smoke.
It weakened her power, and her snake tail appeared. Cornered, she was helpless when the people gathered around her carriage, until Mei Si came to the rescue. He hid her tail and carried her back to his home. He took care of her, and Liu Tai Zhen was too stunned to speak.
Liu Tai Zhen suspected that someone was targeting her snake scales. The snake hunter admitted that he was ordered by someone to sell the sulphur powder. And surprisingly, the one who told him to do it is Wu Zi Shu.
To force Liu Tai Zhen, Elder Hui kidnapped Mei Si as a hostage. But before she can come, Xuan Hui has already gone to save him. Yet, the rescue mission failed because Elder Hui had prepared with a sulphur bomb. Xuan Hui and Liu Tai Zhen lost their power.
The cunning old man managed to injure Xuan Hui and forced Liu Tai Zhen to give the scales away. Although Elder Hui promised to save Xuan Hui, he immediately left after he got the scales. Xuan Hui’s wounds were too severe, and he could not hold on any longer. Xuan Hui died in Mei Si’s arms.
Before she returned to the Demon Market, Liu Tai Zhen asked Mei Si to give Xuan Hui a proper burial. Watching Liu Tai Zhen, Wu Zhen, and Hu Zhu leave for war, he could only muster the courage to tell Wu Zhen to be safe.
He probably wanted to tell Liu Tai Zhen, but he just couldn’t get the words out 😔.
After the Sinister Fiend Infant was gone, things went back to how they were. Liu Tai Zhen got busy with her own life, and Mei Si tried to find his own path. He ended up becoming a writer. His first book was called The New Notes on Demons and Oddities.
In it, he wrote that demons could be just as gentle, warm, and full of feelings as humans. The book got him recognition, and for the first time, Mei Si finally made a name for himself.
Mei Si found a note tucked inside the box of wooden dolls. From the crooked characters, he knew it was written by Xuan Hui. The note said the dolls were moved by emotions. Something clicked in his head the moment he read it.
Without thinking too much, Mei Si pulled Ling Xiao along and forced him to take him to the Demon Market. There, he ran after a shadow that looked so much like Liu Tai Zhen. They met again on the stairs. She turned, looked at him, and smiled.
What Happened to Wu Zi Shu on Moonlit Reunion Ending?
Wu Zi Shu has been on the dark path ever since he remembered that he is Lord Qianyi, the trusted aide of Sinister Fiend Infant. His obsession with Wu Zhen caused him to disregard right from wrong. He colluded with Elder Hui, who wanted to restore the past glory. Yet, his target remains the same, Wu Zhen.
Meanwhile, Wu Zi Shu finally found the place that the Sinister Fiend Infant wanted to find eighteen years ago. It was an abandoned storehouse near the old market. Elder Hui knew that he has been looking for the place and wanted to enter it too.
However, only the Masters of Demon Market could enter the place. They made a plan to steal the Serpent Master’s scale because it could open the door.
He thought that Wu Zhen didn’t know about the abandoned storehouse until she brought it up. His heart skipped a beat. Wu Zhen took him and Hu Zhu there. Using her blood, she opened the door, and they went inside.
Wu Zhen found a giant image of the Sinister Fiend Infant. Meanwhile, Wu Zi Shu couldn’t find what he was looking for. Only then did he realize that Elder Hui had tricked him. At the same time, they saw the small pyramid inside the storehouse light up. A hologram of the Demon Market appeared, and Wu Zhen figure out that the room used to be the Demon Market’s council room.
To catch the cunning old rat, Wu Zi Shu traveled through the city of Chang’an. He caught him at a place called Wuzi Pavilion. He questioned why Elder Hui did things behind his back, while they agreed to cooperate.
As they talked, Wu Zi Shu noticed something was amiss and attacked Elder Hui. It turned out that man he was talking to was Wu Zhen, who had disguised herself as Elder Hui. She did it to expose him.
Wu Zi Shu thought he had hidden his identity well, but then Wu Zhen called him Lord Qianyi. Wu Zi Shu got angry because she hid it from him. He reminded her that they had met when they were a child and he had helped her to become a full demon and the perfect Cat Master wholeheartedly.
Wu Zi Shu believed that she betrayed him. However, when She refuted all his words, he couldn’t utter a single word. His heart was broken when she said that his love made her sick.
Wu Zi Shu announced that the Hui Sect would take over the Demon Market that night, and by then, Chang’an’s fall wouldn’t matter anymore. Wu Zi Shu planned to confine Wu Zhen, believing that it would protect her.
She refused and said she’ll never accept it. Suddenly she was surrounded by golden light, and her giant cat demon appeared. Wu Zi Shu was taken aback. Wu Zhen has become a full demon without his help.
This made him realize that she no longer needed his help. Wu Zi Shu’s heart now shattered completely. All this time, Wu Zi Shu had relied on the fact that Wu Zhen depended on him.
But when she said that a deluded Ancient Tome (which meant Wu Zi Shu, because he is a book demon) should be hidden away from the world, he was devastated. He suddenly launched a deadly attack. Wu Zhen was still shocked when her cat counterattacked, but Wu Zi Shu didn’t dodge.
Wu Zhen rushed to Wu Zi Shu’s side when she saw him fall. She never meant to hurt him. Panicked, Wu Zhen called his name repeatedly while her tears ran down her face. But Wu Zi Shu said that if she didn’t need him, neither Qianyi nor Wu Zi Shu had any reason to exist.
Wu Zhen was filled with regret when Wu Zi Shu turn into an old book and was burned before her eyes. Although he had betrayed her, Wu Zi Shu has been a good friend, and they have spent years together.
What Happened to Elder Hui on Moonlit Reunion Ending?
Elder Hui knew the Sinister Infant Fiend better than Wu Zi Shu did. Eighteen years ago, the Lord attacked the Demon Market to reclaim it because he founded it. The Sinister Fiend Infant also the creator of the Celestial Barrier. He wanted to restore the demon’s path and overthrow the mortal world.
But instead, he was the one who was driven out of Chang’an by the first two masters of Demon Market. Wu Zi Shu was shocked when Elder Hui told him, and he finally understood why Elder Hui hated the Cat Master and the Serpent Master so much.
Elder Hui’s intention is clear: he wanted to revive the Sinister Fiend Infant and help him build a new Chang’an, the one ruled by a demon that would never be equal to mortals.
To achieve this, Elder Hui tricked Wu Zi Shu to find the old storehouse. Later he took the source of primal power that was hidden there. This thing could absorb all evil thoughts from the hearts of humans and demons. Elder Hui planned to awaken the primordial core inside Wu Zhen’s body, and harness its power to destroy Chang’an
As the time grew nearer, Elder Hui prepared to open the Celestial Barrier. However, Wu Zhen, Mei Zhu Yu, and the masters of Changxi Palace stopped him. While the other was busy with the barrier, Wu Zhen faced Elder Hui alone.
Elder Hui never imagined that the primordial core inside Wu Zhen’s body would disappeared. So when she showed no sign of responding to the new moon, he was puzzled. He tried to take it by force, only to find that Wu Zhen had fully transformed into a demon, and he couldn’t defeat her.
With just one swift shot, Wu Zhen took the power source from Elder Hui and killed him. She told her that it was only right for a rat to be eaten by a cat.
What Happened to Hu Zhu and Shuang Jiang on Moonlit Reunion Ending?
After returning to Celestial Palace whit his brothers, Shuang Jiang got busy making money. They only met again when Hu Zhu was tasked with picking up Wu Zhen and bringing her back to the Demon Market.
Hu Zhu encourage Shuang Jiang to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a great hero of the world. Shuang Jiang was lacked confidence in his ability to achieve his dream, but Hu Zhu’s firmly believed that he would. Before she left, Shuang Jiang gave her a gift. It was a gold spirit that he had found earlier.
After the Sinister Fiend Infant vanished, everything returned to its original state. Hu Zhu was still busy managing the Ruyi Pavillion. Shuang Jiang and his brothers worked as a demon hunter.
This time, Shuang Jiang showed his determination to become a hero. He proved that neither wounds nor battered body could stop him. Although Hu Zhu and Shuang Jiang lived far apart, their heart remained close.
Epilogue
Rumors circulated in Chang’an that whenever a man mentioned about his pregnant wife craving something, Comissioner Mei from the Mystical Appraisal Bureau would suddenly appear. Wen Hua, who was accompanying his young master, was worried that his master’s meager salary wouldn’t cover everything he bought for Wu Zhen.
At home, Wu Zhen has been waiting for Mei Zhu Yu. When he arrived, she showed him a wooden doll. Before he could stop her, they magically switched body.
Wu Zhen who was seven month pregnant, was elated when she realized that she could finally drink alcohol with Mei Zhu Yu’s body. She rushed to the Ruyi Pavilion, leaving Mei Zhu Yu inside her heavily pregnant body. Watching her run away, Mei Zhu Yu only could smile helplessly.
My Two Cent
First thing first, I always find the name Sinister Fiend Infant kind of hilarious. Every time I saw it in the subs, I kept on translating it as “ominous baby”. But when he showed up, he was nothing close to a baby. Honestly, it was my own brain that ruined what was supposed to be scary ending.
In the end, I was disappointed because the storehouse scenes were too short. They didn’t explain why the council room was abandoned or why the image of the Sinister Fiend Infant was there. Who put it there? Was the room some kind of secret prison? How he breaks free from that room and fly to the barrier.
If the Hui sect helped him, how did they do it? It was so unsatisfying to finish a drama with questions on your mind. Perhaps, it’s the time to start reading the novel.
