What Happened to Luo Ling Yu and Lu Yun on Les Belles Ending?
Lu Yun finally felt relieved after the emperor issued a decree annulling the engagement between Heng Yang and Luo Ling Yu. However, when Lu Yun heard that Heng Yang was returning to the border, he decided to follow him. His uncle rejected the idea outright.

Lu Yun then mentioned his father, Lu Jie, and his desire to follow in his footsteps. This reason moved Lu Yun’s uncle’s heart, and he finally agreed to let Lu Yun go to serve the country.
Lu Yun took Luo Ling Yu for a walk in the street. They play around and end up sailing in a boat. After a kiss, Lu Yun told Luo Ling Yu about his plan to serve the country. Luo Ling Yu didn’t stop him, but offered her utmost support even though she was worried about his safety. Lu Yun only asked her not to marry another man and to wait for his return.
The next day, Lu Yun left the mansion early in the morning to avoid upsetting his grandmother and Luo Ling Yu. However, he didn’t forget to leave her a box containing all his belongings. Unable to hold back her emotions, Luo Ling Yu’s tears streamed down her cheeks.
During his time at the border, Lu Yun always sent a letter to Luo Ling Yu. However, she refused to open them for fear that the letters would make her more anxious. It wasn’t easy to be a soldier serving the country. Lu Yun and Heng Yang fought side by side to take over Jingyang City.
When the city fell into their hands, Lu Yun, Heng Yang, and the rest of the soldiers were happy. Little did they know that this was just the beginning… because Fan Qing Chen was back!
He is now the advisor to the new king of Beichu. Knowing that Jingyang City had fallen into Nanyue’s hands, he planned to take revenge by destroying the Northern Army at Yi Pass. Fan Qing Chen cut off all the Northern Army’s sources of military supplies and planned to blow them up.
Back in Yuezhou, Luo Ling Yu became restless when she heard that the military supplies were limited. She decided to go to Jingyang on the pretext of reclaiming the family property. Luo Ling Yu still believed that her father had left her 500,000 taels of gold.
Lu Yun was shocked to see her at the camp gate. However, he was genuinely happy to see her. Without wasting time, Luo Ling Yu immediately set out to find the treasure. With the aid of her childhood memories, she found the secret chamber. Inside the chamber was the treasure she was looking for, along with a blood-stained letter from her father.
Inside the envelope was Lu Jie’s private jade pendant and a letter explaining what happened years ago. Luo Ling Yu’s father asked her to clear Lu Jie’s name on his behalf, so that Lu Jie and the fallen soldiers could rest in peace.
Luo Ling Yu used the money to purchase military supplies, inadvertently revealing her presence to Fan Qing Chen.
However, neither of them noticed because Luo Ling Yu and Lu Yun were too caught up in their affectionate moments with each other.
During their stay at the border, Luo Ling Yu saw a different side of Lu Yun. He was no longer the dandy young master, but had become a serious leader. Although she had seen how capable Lu Yun was, Luo Ling Yu still worried about his safety in the battlefield.
Fan Qing Chen used gunpowder to lure Lu Yun and Heng Yang away from the camp. While they were engaged in battle, he sent his subordinates to kidnap Luo Ling Yu. However, Lingxi managed to steal a token from one of the kidnappers. Upon recognizing it, Lu Yun quickly deduced that Fan Qing Chen was behind the kidnapping and rushed to rescue Luo Ling Yu without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Luo Ling Yu regained consciousness and found herself chained in a cage. Her fear increased when she realized that her captor was the mad Fan Qing Chen. He coldly confessed that his greatest desire was to keep Luo Ling Yu in a cage so that they could never be separated. She panicked as Fan Qing Chen stated that he was going to take her away, before draping a red cloth over the cage.
At the Beichu camp, Lu Yun found himself surrounded by Beichu soldiers. Outnumbered, he was relieved when Heng Yang arrived with reinforcements. Desperate to find Luo Ling Yu, Lu Yun searched the camp’s tents, but found only a wedding invitation from Fan Qing Chen. Determined, he rode off alone to the mountain in search of her.
In the middle of the vast snowy expanse, Lu Yun finally spotted the cage. His heart raced as he rushed towards it, unaware of the trap Fan Qing Chen had carefully laid for him.
Lu Yun found himself tied to a torture device when he woke up. There was dynamite in front of him, and it was also next to Luo Ling Yu’s cage. Fan Qing Chen told Luo Ling Yu that if she killed Lu Yun, then her life would be spared.
Luo Ling Yu could not bear to see Lu Yun in pain, so she begged Fan Qing Chen to release Lu Yun, in exchange, she was willing to follow Fan Qing Chen wherever he went. Lu Yun reminded Luo Ling Yu that nothing Fan Qing Chen said could be trusted. He was bent on killing Lu Yun no matter what.
Luo Ling Yu managed to break free and stabbed Fan Qing Chen. However, neither she nor Lu Yun realized that Fan Qing Chen had lit the fuse. In a desperate move, Lu Yun knocked out Luo Ling Yu and put her on the back of his horse, determined to take her to safety. But he stayed behind to stop Fan Qing Chen once and for all.
In the chaos that followed, an avalanche swept down the mountain and Lu Yun was buried under the crushing snow.
Luo Ling Yu, who was found and rescued by Heng Yang, awoke in terror. Fear crept into her heart, and she had only one thing on her mind: to save Lu Yun. Luo Ling Yu joined Heng Yang and the soldier to search for Lu Yun. She dug in the snow with her bloody hands.
After digging for a long time, she found Lu Yun frozen under the snow. Luckily, he is still alive. After recovering for a month, Luo Ling Yu and Lu Yun returned to Yuezhou with a pile of gifts from Heng Yang.
Another month passed, and the elders of the Lu family grew increasingly worried as Lu Yun and Luo Ling Yu showed no signs of getting married anytime soon. They tried countless tricks to force the couple to make a commitment, but every attempt failed. This couple was too smart to be fooled by their moves.
It wasn’t that Luo Ling Yu didn’t want to marry Lu Yun, she was just waiting for him to propose. However, Lu Yun hesitated, unsure of Luo Ling Yu’s true feelings about marriage. However, whenever they tried to probe each other’s feelings, neither of them dared to tell the truth because of their pride.
Tired of waiting for the proposal, Luo Ling Yu planned to take action against the slow Lu Yun. She didn’t know that Lu Yun was also planning to propose and had asked his brothers to help him prepare.
At the Kongming Festival, Lu Yun took Luo Ling Yu for a walk. They both planned to propose to each other the same night. The boys prepared large lanterns, while the girls prepared an artificial rain. And unexpectedly, the two plans collided. In the end, it was Luo Ling Yu who handed Lu Yun a golden crown and asked, “Will you marry me?”.
At the end, While their friends were having fun, Lu Yun took Luo Ling Yu to the dock. Lu Yun said that he wanted to take Luo Ling Yu to Jingyang and become the new husband of the Luo clan. Luo Ling Yu was touched. As the boat sailed away, they kissed.

He helped Lu Yun prepare a romantic evening for his proposal to Luo Ling Yu. that night, Heng Yang has to gave up his cherished jade pendant to Lu Yun, because it turned out that Lu Yun did not bring any money with him before he went to Jingyang with Luo Ling Yu.
What Happened to Fan Qing Chen on Les Belles Ending?
Fan Qing Chen has now become the advisor to the king of Beichu. When he found out that Lu Yun was among Nanyue’s soldiers, he was boiling with anger. He wanted to destroy Lu Yun not only because he still holds a deep grudge for humiliating him back in Yuezhou, but also because of Luo Ling Yu. All this time, Fan Qing Chen has kept Luo Ling Yu’s painting in his room.

One of Fan Qing Chen’s subordinates reported that the Northern Army had received a large shipment of military supplies. Lu Yun, accompanied by a young woman, had been gathering grain from nearby towns.
The subordinate then noticed a painting of Luo Ling Yu and pointed out that the woman in the painting was the same one who had been helping Lu Yun. Fan Qing Chen, however, didn’t believe that Luo Ling Yu would willingly put herself in danger for him.
Fan Qing Chen immediately changed the battle plan and ordered his subordinates to collect all the gunpowder and bring it to the front line. He wanted to attack Nanyue as soon as possible. His subordinate tried to dissuade him, but Fan Qing Chen was determined to attack Nanyue head on.
Fan Qing Chen no longer cared that the battle was for Beichu’s victory. In his mind, he only cared about getting Luo Ling Yu.
Fang Qing Chen kidnapped Luo Ling Yu from the Nanyue Camp and locked her in his room. Luo Ling Yu was afraid to see how obsessed Fan Qing Chen was with her.
Contrary to Luo Ling Yu’s feelings, Fan Qing Chen was happy to see her again. He told Luo Ling Yun that he had survived and taken refuge with the Third Prince of Beichu. He helped the prince ascend the throne and eventually became his advisor.
For Fan Qing Chen, all the hardships he faced were worth it because he could hold her hand again. He emphasized that he no longer cared about Beichu’s victory. His only goal now was to trap Luo Ling Yu in the cage so that they would never be separated again. Hearing those words from his mouth, Luo Ling Yu felt a chill run down her spine.
To eliminate Lu Yun, Fan Qing Chen set up a trap atop a snow-capped mountain, using Luo Ling Yu as bait. Lu Yun, who rushed to save Luo Ling Yu, unaware he was walking into Fan Qing Chen’s trap. When he awoke, he was tied to a torture device, and Luo Ling Yu’s cage stood nearby.
Both were attached to dynamite with lit fuses. Fan Qing Chen gave Luo Ling Yu a choice: light the fuse to save herself, or he would break Lu Yun’s arm if she refused. Though Luo Ling Yu pleaded with him, Fan Qing Chen had planned this from the start. And he never intended to let Lu Yun live.
Though injured, Lu Yun continued taunting Fan Qing Chen until he lost his temper. Unbeknownst to Fan Qing Chen, their heated argument gave Luo Ling Yu the chance to slip free of her shackles. She shouted for him to stop and then announced she would light the fuse herself.
In the chaos, she seized Fan Qing Chen’s sword and stabbed him in the waist. Stunned, Fan Qing Chen staggered back, unable to believe her betrayal.
As Luo Ling Yu hurried to free Lu Yun, Fan Qing Chen triggered the fuse, determined to bury them all in the explosion. To save her, Lu Yun summoned his horse, struck Luo Ling Yu unconscious, and hoisted her onto the saddle. Enraged, Fan Qing Chen lunged at Lu Yun with his last shred of strength. The two fought, until the roaring avalanche swallowed them both.
My Musing
Okay, first of all… the CGI was really off, and the battle scenes were disappointing. The story rushed so much towards the end. It didn’t take long for Luo Ling Yu to decide to go to Jingyang, and in a blink, the ‘aid of her childhood memories’ conveniently led her to the secret chamber.
I wanted to complain about how flawless Lu Yun’s makeup and hair were, even after fighting on the battlefield. I really wish more Cdramas would take inspiration from The Rebel Princess drama. Xiao Qi’s disheveled hair while fighting in battle felt so much more realistic to me as a viewer.
