The Limbo Drama Ending Explained

The Present

At He Xiao Guang’s funeral, Hai Mei finally told Ye Xiao the truth. She said that she believed that He Xiao Guang wouldn’t commit suicide. They had been together for 21 days and she had seen hope in his eyes, even though He Xiao Guang had witnessed the dark side of humanity.

Hai Mei also confessed that her story about him sexually assaulting her was a lie. Ding Zi begged Hai Mei to admit that she was the one who stabbed He Xiao Guang. Ding Zi said that the police would find their fingerprints on the knife. And because she was involved in a gang attack, she could be sentenced to ten years in prison.

Ding Zi said her father would give Hai Mei anything she asked for as long as she agreed to confess. Hai Mei’s heart wavered when Ding Zi mentioned raising the baby. But now she was feeling guilty about it. Before leaving the funeral parlor, Hai Mei told Ye Xiao that she had decided to keep the baby.

Ye Xiao has to prove that He Xiao Guang’s death was not suicide, even though they found a suicide note in his apartment. However, there was not enough evidence from Hai Mei’s testimony. They continued to dig for more evidence, and they found that Shi Kai’s death was not an accident.

Somewhere in the city, Tao Ye now works as a delivery man. His home is a tent in front of his office. Although his life was hard, Tao Ye continued to work hard. Unbeknownst to him, a pair of eyes was watching him from afar. The eyes were filled with guilt.

The next day, Lin Yu Yang called her ex-husband to pick up Lin Zheng Tai. She planned to turn herself in. Lin Yu Yang confessed that Shi Kai had molested her. Tao Ye came to help her, but Shi Kai strangled him. In order to help Tao Ye, Lin Yu Yang hit Shi Kai on the head. Then, the building collapsed.

Shi Kai’s thigh was pierced by a steel. He lost a lot of blood and died. At first, Lin Yu Yang was afraid to confess because she did not want to go to jail or lose her son. But now she feared that Luo Hao Rang, Yang Bing, Guo Hao Yu, Zhou Yi and Yuan Mei would hurt her son. Lin Yu Yang told Ye Xiao about the incident on the 21st day.

As she was being taken to the prison, Tao Ye had just arrived at the police station. He shouted that it was he who killed Shi Kai. But Ye Xiao had already seen the truth. After listening to Lin Yu Yang’s confession, the police arrested Guo Hao Yu, Ding Zi, Zhou Yi, and Yang Bing.

Guo Hao Yu was arrested without resistance. Guo Hao Yu is the person who wrote the post titled “Murder at the Abyss” under the name Sanhua. He did it because Chang Xiang Ning asked him to publish her secret interrogation of Luo Hao Ran. Guo Hao Yu confessed that he was involved in the plan to lure He Xiao Guang. But he didn’t know who pushed He Xiao Guang down from the fifth floor because he was still fighting with Tao Ye at that time.

Ding Zi was about to leave when she saw the police coming. In the interrogation room, Ding Zi confessed everything. Luo Hao Ran persuaded her to convince Hai Mei to take the blame for stabbing He Xiao Guang.

Ding Zi now realized that she had hurt Xiao Guang and Hai Mei by doing so. Ding Zi also confessed that Luo Hao Ran had strangled Wu Han Lei and buried his body under the ruins of the 5th floor. She wasn’t the only one who saw it. He Xiao Guang also saw it. Therefore, Luo Hao Ran has to kill him.

Zhou Yi, who acts like a hypocrite in the underground, now regrets everything. He wanted to live with his wife and children, but he couldn’t use his love for them as an excuse to escape his mistakes or pretend that nothing had happened.

Zhou Yi told the policeman that being trapped under the building made him lose his mind. In the end, he stated that it was Yang Bing who killed He Xiao Guang while he stood by and watched. He admitted that he was also responsible for He Xiao Guang’s death.

Yang Bing denied that he had killed He Xiao Guang. Only after the police told him that they were going to interrogate Luo Hao Ran and Yuan Mei did he confess that he had killed He Xiao Guang on Luo Hao Ran’s orders. He was promised a million yuan if he would carry out the task.

Yang Bing still has a recording of Luo Hao Ran and Wu Han Lei killing Wu Jian Jun in the underground parking lot. He planned to use it if Luo Hao Ran refused to pay.

The police also found that Yuan Mei had tampered with the evidence. The so-called suicide footage of Wu Jian Jun was edited from the real video that was stored on a flash drive in Luo Hao Ran’s office. The police have already taken her fingerprints from the painting in Luo Hao Ran’s office.

Yuan Mei thought that by making Wu Jian Jun the scapegoat, she could get the insurance money. But after the police officer showed her a photo of Luo Hao Ran killing Wu Jian Jun, she reluctantly admitted that the real video was stored in her cell phone.

At the hospital, Luo Hao Ran admitted that he knew there was a sinkhole under Luobai. He denied being part of He Xiao Guang’s murder and blamed Yang Bing for it. Luo Hao Ran defended himself by saying that he knew the group would blame him. So he recorded the group’s attack on He Xiao Guang. He only wanted to keep himself and Ding Zi alive. Luo Hao Ran also pretended that he didn’t know that Wu Han Lei had died.

Luo Hao Ran’s confidence was shaken after Ye Xiao Guang told him that Ding Zi had confessed that Luo Hao Ran had killed Wu Han Lei. Luo Hao Ran asked Ye Xiao to show him the evidence. Otherwise, he wouldn’t admit anything.

In order to find solid evidence, Ye Xiao re-examined all the evidence. He got an idea when he saw He Xiao Guang’s photo in the atrium. There is an ATM behind him. Ye Xiao took his team with him to find the ATM. When they found it, the surveillance camera on the machine was still on, and they only needed the bank’s permission to see the surveillance footage.

The camera secretly records everything. The footage showed how Luo Hao Ran was dragging the body of Wu Han Lei, how he was recording a video when the group was beating up He Xiao Guang, and how he was threatening the group about the death of He Xiao Guang.

Yay!

The police went to the hospital to arrest Luo Hao Ran. After all the defendants were tried by the court, Luo Hao Ran was convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to death. Yang Bing also faces the death penalty. Zhou Yi was convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Ding Zi was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for obstructing a witness and intentionally causing harm. Yuan Mei was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. She was convicted of premeditated murder as well. Guo Hao Yu was sentenced to 3.5 years imprisonment. Chang Xiang Ning died and could no longer be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, Lin Yu Yang’s case was found to be self-defense. Therefore, she was declared not guilty. The Haizhou Municipal People’s Procuratorate decided not to prosecute Hai Mei and Tao Ye, who voluntarily confessed and whose criminal circumstances are minor.

Ye Xiao ends the case with a visit to He Xiao Guang’s psychologist. He wanted to clear his head and asked about He Xiao Guang’s treatment. The psychologist said that He Xiao Guang loves his job and went to her to get treatment for his PTSD. The psychologist believed that He Xiao Guang had overcome his PTSD when he rushed to save people that day.

What Happened in the 21st Day on The Limbo Drama Ending?

Even though the group was instigated to attack He Xiao Guang, he still wanted to save them. No one knew that it was a trap Luo Hao Ran had planned for them. He was waiting for the time when everyone would lose their minds and kill each other. Luo Hao Ran didn’t want to stain his hand with blood, but he still planned to let them all die.

When they found out that Luo Hao Ran had hidden the supplies and wanted to kill them all, they pushed him off the building. But He Xiao Guang saved Luo Hao Ran and they both fell down. Yang Bing told everyone that Luo Hao Ran had the camera that recorded their confession videos.

Not only that, but the camera is also a record of them attacking He Xiao Guang. Therefore, they have to find the memory card, but first they have to rescue He Xiao Guang. It was not easy to break through the wall. So Yang Bing told the others to find a steel rod.

Yang Bing had an ulterior motive when he suggested the group find the steel rod. He was waiting for an opportunity to kill Hai Mei and He Xiao Guang. When they all left, he turned around and almost killed Hai Mei who was talking to He Xiao Guang behind the wall. Fortunately, Lin Zheng Tai’s presence stopped him.

When Luo Hao Ran regained consciousness, he realized that He Xiao Guang had taken the camera’s memory card. Meanwhile, Hai Mei was in a dire situation as Yang Bing tried to kill her. In order to stop him, He Xiao Guang was willing to hand over the memory card.

Luo Hao Ran still tried to manipulate others by asking He Xiao Guang to destroy the card. Luo Hao Ran still tried to manipulate others by asking He Xiao Guang to destroy it, making it seem like it was He Xiao Guang who wanted to benefit by keeping it.

He Xiao Guang promised to destroy it or else he would die. Only then did Luo Hao Ran order Yang Bing to let her go. This time, He Xiao Guang promised her that he would get her out alive. Unlike what happened to He Xiao Liang.

Meanwhile, the rescue team was only 1.5 meters away from them. Time was pressing, and Luo Hao Ran had to kill He Xiao Guang no matter what. So he made a plan to lure He Xiao Guang out. Lin Yu Yang told Tao Ye about the foul plan after overhearing their conversation.

Luo Hao Ran placed the walkie-talkie near He Xiao Guang and Hai Mei’s hiding place. Then Yang Bing, Guo Hao Yu, and Zhou Yi hid behind the ruins. Unfortunately, it was Lin Zheng Hai who found the walkie-talkie. He was wandering around looking for his bumblebee toy. Hai Mei heard the sound and went outside. Lin Zheng Hai talked to the rescue team and didn’t forget to address Luo Hao Ran who was hiding nearby.

Hai Mei saw him and realized it was a trap. She rushed back, but Yang Bing had already caught her. Guo Hao Yu also moved quickly to take Lin Zheng Tai hostage. He Xiao Guang heard the commotion and left the room.

Yang Bing swung the axe at him, but He Xiao Guang managed to grab the axe. Luo Hao Ran demanded that the memory card be handed over to him. But He Xiao Guang insisted that he should let Hai Mei and Lin Zheng Tai go. Luo Hao Ran yielded and let them go.

He Xiao Guang told them to go to the 5th floor and then threw the memory card on the floor. Luo Hao Ran and the others were shocked when they saw the condition of the memory card. And it was only half an hour before the rescue team came.

The memory card had been broken for a long time, but no one knew about it except He Xiao Guang. Even Hai Mei didn’t know because He Xiao Guang didn’t want her to worry.

On the fifth floor, He Xiao Guang ordered Hai Mei and Lin Zheng Tai to hide, while he confronted Luo Hao Ran, Yang Bing, Guo Hao Yu, and Zhou Yi. Tao Ye and Lin Yu Yang followed Lin Zheng Tai to the 5th floor.

However, Yang Bing and Guo Hao Yu chased after them. Tao Ye fought with Guo Hao Yu while Lin Yu Yang went to look for Lin Zheng Tai.

He Xiao Guang knew that he would not be able to hold on much longer. His body was battered and the pain was unbearable. Yang Bing found him collapsed on the ground. He dragged He Xiao Guang and dropped him from the 5th floor while Luo Hao Ran and Zhou Yi watched from the side.

However, He Xiao Guang felt that he had been set free. He has a smile on his face at the end of his life with his brother He Xiao Liang in mind.

The fall killed He Xiao Guang. Luo Hao Ran told everyone that they should say that He Xiao Guang died because he couldn’t hold on and committed suicide. Otherwise they would go to jail. Luo Hao Ran then told Ding Zi that she had to say that she didn’t remember anything. If she had no memory, she wouldn’t be legally responsible.

It was not long after this that the rescue team came to help them.

My Musings

This drama was quite dramatic, and I felt drained all over when I finished it. It was a sad thing that He Xiao Guang had to die. He is the only kind soul who genuinely wants to help. I guess he did it not just because he used to be a firefighter. It was really his heart’s desire to help everyone.

For He Xiao Guang, this is a chance to cleanse all the guilt in his heart. Before he died, he knew that they would all be saved. More importantly, Hai Mei was saved. What a poor man. I am glad that he finally found peace.
