Let’s dive into the fantasy world of the immortals, the Moon tribe, and mortals. Love Between Fairy and Devil is the story of forbidden love between the strongest man of three realms and the weakest fairy of Shuiyuntian. The story was interesting with a lot of bittersweet love, angst, and a touch of comedy here and there. Without further ado, let’s see what these episodes will give you, but first let me introduce you to the characters first. Happy reading!

Our Main Characters

Xiao Lan Hua

Xiao Lan Hua or Little Orchid was a fairy who lived in the Arbiter Hall of Shuiyuntian. She was weak because her immortal root was accidentally spoiled by spilled wine. Although she was weak, Xiao Lan Hua was a nice and persevering person. Her gullible and simple-minded nature was a charm that attracted others. As the disciple of Siming, Xiao Lan Hua’s main job was to take care of the Destiny tree and the destiny books. She also takes good care of the Arbiter Hall. And when she was not doing her job, Xiao Lan Hua spent her time staring at a picture of her idol. The mighty God of War, Changheng.

Dongfang Qingcang

Dongfang Qingcang was the oldest son of the Moon Supreme of the Moon Tribe. He was the only one who could wield the Hellfire Sword and was able to control Hellfire flames. And to master the hellfire, Dongfang Qingcang discarded all his emotions. Everybody in the three realms was afraid of him because he was the strongest person who had nothing to fear and was without weakness.

Lord Changheng

Changheng was famous as the most sought-after bachelor in Shuiyuntian. He was titled the God of War and led the Shuiyuntian army in many wars. Lord Changheng was a calm and composed person. He never showed any emotion, and he kept his thoughts well hidden. As the youngest son of the former Immortal Emperor, Changheng was engaged to Xi Yun, the Goddess of Xishan who disappeared 30,000 years ago. When he was off duty, Changheng would spend his days looking for her or drinking with his best friend.

Rong Hao

Rong Hao was Changheng’s only friend. He wielded no power in Shuiyuntian and lived an easy and idle life even though he was the disciple of Chidi Nüzi, the former God of War who sacrificed herself in the Great War. Rong Hao loves to play the flute.

Shuiyuntian Immmortal

Chidi Nüzi

Chidi Nüzi was Shuiyuntian’s first God of War and Rong Hao’s master. She led the army of fairies into the Great War against Dongfang Qingcang and his 10,000 elite demon soldiers. To win the war, she sacrifices her primordial spirit to seal the demon soldiers and then perished.

Siming or Lord Arbiter

Siming was Xiao Lan Hua’s master. She was responsible for the destiny books of every living creature in the three realms. She likes to drink. Her spilled wine was the reason why Xiao Lan Hua’s immortal root was ruined. Siming had been wandering in the mortal realm for 1,000 years, and she left the Arbiter Hall in the care of her foolish disciple.

Lord Yunzhong

Lord Yunzhong held the highest position in Shuiyuntian. As the Emperor of Shuiyuntian, everything in the fairy realm is at his disposal. He was a resolute emperor and strived very hard to preserve the supremacy of Shuiyuntian. As an elder brother of Changheng, he was indifferent to him. Therefore we cannot say that their relationship was close.

Lord Li Yuan

As an immortal lord and former God of War, Lord Li Yuan held a high position in the Shuiyuntian. He was an upright person and a caring father. His only daughter was Fairy Dan Yin, who was famous for her beauty and talent.

Qingchuan

Qingchuan was an immortal servant who served as Changheng’s personal servant. He didn’t make a lot of appearances, but he was quite nice and obedient.

Cangyang Sea’s Moon Tribe

Shang Que

Shang Que was the Moon tribe lieutenant as well as Dongfang Qingcang’s most trusted assistant. His true form was a giant black dragon. He was good at gathering information and had many ideas even though it was often useless. Just like his master, Dongfang Qingcang, Shang Que was bad at reading emotions.

Haishi City

Lord of Haishi City

The Lord of Haishi City was the ruler of this city. He was a mysterious person who always covered his face with a complicated mask. His power was quite strong but tended to go to the evil side. He was the one who built the Soul Transformation Cauldron to generate evil spirits out of immortals.

Die Yi

Die Yi was the Pavillion master of Liufang Pavillion. She could be recognized by her special mark, two black dots on her forehead. She was the most trusted aide of the Lord of the Haishi City. She was a ruthless person. Run as fast as you can when you see her.

Jie Li

Jie Li used to be a shopkeeper in Haishi City. Her shop sells everything from elixirs and pills to clothes. After her store was destroyed, she followed Xiao Lan Hua into the Cangyang sea. Jie Li believed that she was an orphan and always thought only for herself. Her obsession was only one; money.

Episode Recap

Episode 1

The Legend tells that Dongfang Qingcang, the Moon Supreme of the Moon Tribe, turned himself into an emotionless monster to acquire an ancient forbidden skill. He killed his father to take the highest position as the Moon Supreme and led 10,000 demon soldiers to kill, burn, and loot. He put the three realms in grave danger. The three realms were: Shuiyuntian (the Fairy realms), Cangyang Sea (The Moon Tribe realms), and Yunmeng Lake (The Mortal realm).

For the sake of the safety of the people, Chidi Nüzi, the Shuiyuntian’s God of War, destroyed her primordial spirit to seal the 10,000 demon soldiers of the Moon Tribe before she perished together with Dongfang Qingcang.

However, her sacrifice did not kill Dongfang Qingcang thoroughly. Even though his body was destroyed, Dongfang Qingcang’s primordial spirit remains. And if he resurrected, it would put the three realms in danger again. And only the Goddess of Xishan could defuse the catastrophe. But unfortunately, she disappeared.

The Shuiyuntian is the beautiful realm where the fairy resides. Every building was standing tall above the mirror lake of pink clouds. Including the remote Arbiter Hall, with its wooden house and a big orange tree. The tree was not an ordinary tree, because every leaf was a Destiny book that tells the fate of every creature in the realm.

Xiao Lan Hua is a little orchid fairy who lives alone in the Arbiter hall. Her master was the Lord Arbiter or Siming. A senior immortal who was responsible for the Destiny book of every living creature in the realm. A long time ago, the drunken Siming spilled her wine bottle. The wine drenched a pot of orchids, spoiled its immortal root, and ruined its cultivation and power. The unlucky orchid was Xiao Lan Hua.

Siming took her as a disciple and taught her how to repair, organize, and take care of the destiny book. After she taught Xiao Lan Hua all her skills, Siming went into the mortal world and hasn’t returned for 500 years.

Well, another careless teacher character. I wonder what has crossed her mind when Siming decided to leave her job to a foolish disciple like Xiao Lan Hua…🤷‍♀️

Although Xiao Lan Hua said that she was getting better at repairing Destiny books, you cannot believe her. Xiao Lan Hua had many broken books that waited to be repaired. Therefore, she often worked until late at night. She also had to clean the big house all by herself. So, yes… her life was tiring and lonely…😢

As the weakest fairy in Shuiyuntian, Xiao Lan Hua was often bullied by her peers. Her friends were the lazy plant spirits in the garden. Other fairies always mocked her crush on God of War, Lord Changheng. But Xiao Lan Hua didn’t flinch because Lord Changheng was her savior. To repay his kindness, Xiao Lan Hua had set her goal. She was determined to pass the immortal examination and serve at the Fountain Palace.

Changheng, the God of War, has returned with victory.

He successfully pacified the rebellion, defeated Dongfang Xungfeng, the leader of the Moon tribe, and reclaimed the seized land in the Northernmost Ocean. He still had many unfinished jobs when the Shuiyuntian Emperor called him to return to Yujing because there was an emergency in Shuiyuntian.

Lord Yunzhong told Changheng that 30,000 years ago when Dongfang Qingcang was defeated, many believed that he was dead.

But only the higher-ups of Shuiyuntian knew that Dongfang Qingcang’s golden body and his primordial spirit were still intact. The late Shuiyuntian Emperor, Lord Dong, sealed him inside the Haotian Matrix that was made by the immortals’ strength, deep down in the Haotian Tower.

The Haotian Matrix was powerful, and nobody in the three realms could destroy it. But Dongfang Qingcang’s primordial spirit was able to shake the matrix and loosen the seal. It would be a grave danger if Dongfang Qingcang escaped from the Haotian Tower. Therefore, Lord Yuzhong needed Changheng to help them to strengthen the seal. Changheng was surprised to hear the explanation, but he accepted the order.

In the Arbiter Hall, somebody was ringing the bell when Xiao Lan Hua was busy working on a book. It was fairy Yu Lin who was in a bad mood. She was upset because she couldn’t join the crowd to welcome the God of War. Instead, she must go to the remote Arbiter Hall for a task. Xiao Lan Hua tried to probe the news about Changheng, but Yu Lin scolded her.But somehow, Xiao Lan Hua confirmed the news. She happily dressed herself up (You need to see the scene, it was awesome!) and went into the Shuyu Forest to pick up some flowers for Lord Changheng. To her surprise, she met the sought-after deity in the forest.

Xiao Lan Hua attempted to appear in style, but she utterly failed. Changheng helped her up, and our orchid was blushing. The little orchid wanted to express her gratitude because 1,500 years ago, Lord Changheng had saved her by advising Siming to keep her seed, although her immortal root was ruined. Unfortunately, Changheng didn’t remember it. However, he accepted her flower and picked an orchid from the basket.

Xiao Lan Hua was ecstatic. Before he left, Changheng dropped his spirit jade. Xiao Lan Hua called him and wanted to return the jade. However, Changheng said that previously Xiao Lan Hua had scared the fireflies away, and without the fireflies, the Magical Firefly Stone was nothing more than an ordinary stone. So he let her keep the jade.

The Immortal Examination was an event that everybody was waiting for. Those who passed the examination would get a promotion, a new wage, and be able to apply for a new workplace. Most of the female fairies in Shuiyuntian aimed to work at the Fountain Palace where Changheng resides.

That day, when Xiao Lan Hua passed the Destiny tree, Changheng’s destiny book fell. She took it and found out that his life was in grave danger. Xiao Lan Hua chased him to a place near Haotian Tower, where Changheng and other senior immortals were strengthening Dongfang Qingcang’s seal.

The little orchid was concerned about Changheng’s life. To save him, she took drastic measures to protect him. However, she was sucked into the tower, right before Lord Yunzhong closed the seal. Changheng was frantic because he wanted to help her, but Lord Yunzhong ignored his request.

When Xiao Lan Hua panicked, a glimpse of a green symbol appeared on her chest. She flew inside the colorful abyss straight towards a silver-haired man. To prevent a crash, Xiao Lan Hua put her hand on his chest. A green light suddenly appeared in her hand and spread in his chest.

And all of a sudden, he opened his eyes. His eyes were scorching blue flames, and the same blue flames appeared and surrounded his body, pulling Xiao Lan Hua close.

Out of control, she crashed onto him and they accidentally kissed. Blue and green flames appeared, creating beautiful supernovas around them. Then everything turns black.

Xiao Lan Hua woke up on a barren island. There was nothing in there, only snow and a dying tree. She touched the tree, and the green light reappeared and spread over the tree.

The air was cold. Suddenly, Xiao Lan Hua sneezed. When she opened her eyes, she saw herself sitting on the ground. She tried to touch herself when she realized that something was wrong. Their bodies has been swapped. Right now, she was inside the silver-haired man’s body.

Xiao Lan Hua saw herself throw a rock and activated the Haotian Matrix. That man told her to destroy the matrix so they could escape. Suddenly she realized that he was one of the criminals sealed in the Haotian tower. The silver-haired man orders her to destroy the matrix using the power inside his body, or he will kill her.

Oh my, it was hard to describe what was happening inside the Haotian tower. If you read my review of this drama, I have mentioned that this drama was visually beautiful. So, it was an arduous task to explain the stunning sight in words. So bear with me, dear readers, I’m still trying to do my best for all of you.

Episode 2

The silver-haired man’s words angered Xiao Lan Hua. She retaliated and scolded him back. She also reminded him that he was in her body, and if he wanted to kill her, it meant that he would kill himself. Her words made the silver-haired man realize something. He cut Xiao Lan Hua’s hair short to demonstrate his power and Xiao Lan Hua mustn’t defy him.

The little orchid was shocked to see her precious hair ruined. She tried to pull the silver hair, but it was useless because she could not pull a single hair at all. Frustrated, Xiao Lan Hua crouched down and wept.

The silver-haired man told her to stop crying, but it made her cry more profusely. To make her stop, he restored Xiao Lan Hua’s hair perfectly. Xiao Lan Hua finally felt relieved when she saw her hair in its original state.

Xiao Lan Hua tried to use his power to break the Haotian matrix, but she failed and fell miserably. The silver-haired man tried to remember why they switched bodies.

In the Fountain palace, Changheng went inside a painting to drink with his friend, Rong Hao. They sailed on the river. Changheng told Rong Hao that when they sealed the matrix, a fairy fell into the Haotian tower. He felt sad because he lost a life. But his brother remained unperturbed. Rong Hao said that the immortal Shuiyuntian was a hypocrite, and Changheng agreed with him. Both of them drink in silence.

Dear readers, you should see this scene. It was beautiful!

Rong Hao saw that Changheng was staring at a handkerchief. He knew the handkerchief was special, or Changheng would not stare at it intently. So, out of curiosity, he cast a spell on it, and an orchid pattern suddenly appeared. Changheng tried to take it back, but his action made Rong Hao want to tease him more. Seeing his anxious state, Rong Hao advised him to relax.

In the Haotian Tower, the silver-haired man (still in Xiao Lan Hua’s body) tried to forcefully kiss her. But because of panic, Xiao Lan Hua uses his power and throws him into the matrix wall. Seeing her body in danger, Xiao Lan Hua flew to save him. But she cannot control the power, and she crashed into him, again, and accidentally kissed him, again.

Well, there were already two kissing scenes early at the beginning of the drama. I wonder when they would have the real kiss…

The kiss switched them back into their bodies. Xiao Lan Hua was stunned to see the silver-haired man transformed. He changed into a dark-haired man with black armor. With the transformation, the Haotian Tower collapsed.

Dongfang Qingcang strangled Xiao Lan Hua because he wanted to kill her. But a green symbol appeared on his forehead, and suddenly he felt suffocated. The stronger he grasped her throat, the suffocation he felt was getting intense. So he let go of his hand. Seeing he was in a bad state, Xiao Lan Hua took the chance to run away. Dongfang Qingcang flew outside and restored the tower to its original state, completed with the intact seal.

Changheng and Rong Hao sensed that something had happened in Haotiaon Tower. But when they arrived, everything was completely intact. Several guards reported that the prison at the bottom of the Haotian Tower was damaged and some criminals escaped. Changheng and Rong Hao caught them.

Changheng realized that his handkerchief was missing, so he returned to the forest, but he could not find it.

In the Memory Loss river, Dongfang Qingcang called his most trusted lieutenant, the black dragon Shang Que. He has been guarding his Hellfire sword for 30,000 years after the Great War. Shang Que was happy to see his Master’s return. Dongfang Qingcang took him to the Xuanxu realm where the 10,000 demon soldiers were sealed.

In Haishi City, there was a big cauldron where the immortal was transformed into an evil spirit. Die Yi, the Pavilion Master, was summoned to the Liufang pavilion.

Xiao Lan Hua visits Jie Li’s store to buy some elixir and pills to cure her damaged immortal root. But her money was not enough, so Jie Li gave her a task in exchange for the money. The task was to deliver some clothes to Liufang Pavilion. For the sake of the elixir, Xiao Lan Hua took the task. But in the Liufang Pavillion, she meets a plant fairy who is going to be sacrificed to the caldron. And to her surprise, she finds a nameless book of Destiny floating in a secret room. So she took it back with her.

Meanwhile, in the Xuanxu realm, Dongfang Qingcang reminisces about what was happening 30,000 years ago when Chidi Nüzi sacrifices her primordial spirit to seal his demon soldiers. Right now, the 10,000 demon soldiers were petrified in the Xuanxu realm. Shang Que reported what was happening after Dongfang Qingcang was pronounced dead. His brother Dongfang Xunfeng took the throne. However, in just 100 years, two kings of Southern and Northern Youxian Counties rebelled one after another and proclaimed themselves as kings.

While the Moon tribe fell into constant civil unrest, the Shuiyuntian’s condition was the opposite. They flourished and took over the Moon tribe’s lands. Right now, they are getting stronger than the Moon tribe. After he heard the reports, Dongfang Qingcang stated that he would lead his former men, revive the supremacy of the Moon tribe, and wipe out the Shuiyuntian. But when he tried to open the seal of the demon soldiers, he failed. It can only be opened by the one who sealed them, Chidi Nüzi.

Xiao Lan Hua and the plant fairy were caught. They are going to be sacrificed in the cauldron. When she was about to fall, Dongfang Qingcang appeared. He could sense that she was in danger because when Xiao Lan Hu was injured, a wound would also appear on his body. Xiao Lan Hua and Dongfang Qingcang’s bodies were connected. Therefore, he must protect her.

Episode 3

When Xiao Lan Hua was falling into the cauldron, suddenly an enormous ball of fire appeared in the sky of Haishy city, followed by a giant Dongfang Qingcang.

He saved her, killed all the guards, and destroyed the Soul Transformation Cauldron using his hellfire. Die Yi was badly wounded. When the cauldron was destroyed, all the evil spirits escaped and possessed everybody in Haishi City.

Meanwhile, Dongfang Qingcang released Xiao Lan Hua. Dongfang Qingcang said that he wanted to kill her. But he can’t do that, instead, he will never allow anyone to touch her, because from now on Xiao Lan Hua belongs to him. Without his permission, she mustn’t leave his sight.

Dongfang Qingcang said that because their bodies were connected, he wanted to keep himself safe. But our cute little orchid misunderstood his intention. Xiao Lan Hua thought that Dongfang Qingcang fell in love with her. She tried hard to convince him to find another woman because she believe Dongfang Qingcang falling in love with her because he was locked in the Haotian tower for too long…🤪

Dongfang Qingcang orders her to break her spell. When Xiao Lan Hua sees the symbol on his forehead, she recognizes it as the Xilan Holy Seal. But of course, she cannot break the seal because it is way beyond her capability. After that, she left in anger and dropped her elixir.

The Lord of Haishi City appeared and gathered all the evil spirits that possessed people. He restored the cauldron and returned all the evil spirits inside the cauldron. He reprimanded Die Yi because the Destiny book was missing. The book was the key to all plans. He also questioned who was the mysterious man that destroyed the cauldron. He was furious because even Die Yi didn’t know who the man was. However, she also reported that the Destiny book was taken by a fairy from Shuiyuntian Spirits.

Shang Que told Dongfang Qingcang that Xilan Holy Seal had been missing for 30,000 years after somebody eradicated the Xilan clan. He suspected that Xiao Lan Hua was a surviving member of Xilan clan. He also reminded Dongfang Qingcang that he can not do anything to her. The Xilan clan lives at the corner of Xishan and guards the three realms against evil gods. They always remain neutral. It would be unethical to attack Xilan.

Is the Xilan Clan some sort of United Nation of an ancient world?

Suddenly our evil king was crying. It turned out that Xiao Lan Hua was crying profusely in her garden. Annoyed by the emotion, Dongfang Qingcang went into Shuiyuntian. No guards were able to detect his presence. He went straight into the Arbiter Hall and surprised Xiao Lan Hua. She tried to convince him again to return to the Haotian tower and that she was just an ordinary flower fairy who can not break the spell.

It’s fun to hear every word she says inside her brain. Xiao Lan Hua believed that Dongfang Qingcang was adamant to be near her because he wanted to be with her.

Dongfang Qingcang found the nameless Destiny book. It was Chidi Nüzi’s destiny book. She still had a fragment of her primordial spirit in the Yunmeng Lake.

It sparked Dongfang Qingcang’s curiosity about what happened 30,000 years ago. But then he realized that right now he had a chance to unseal his 10,000 elite demon soldiers. Our little orchid tried to take back the Destiny book. But because of their power colliding, the Destiny book was badly damaged.

Changheng was reminiscing 500 years ago when he was badly injured and met a woman in the forest. The woman was Xiao Lan Hua…

Soooo, it’s getting interesting that Changheng met Xiao Lan Hua. But he acted like he didn’t know her at all. And Xiao Lan Hua also seemed not aware of the event.

A soldier reported that he caught all the escaped criminals from the Haotian tower. He also reported that he had inspected all areas in Shuiyuntian. Changheng asked whether the Arbiter Hall had been checked, but it turned out the soldier didn’t check it because he thought that Arbiter Hall was unoccupied. Changheng was angry and decided to go there by himself. It seemed that he was concerned about Xiao Lan Hua’s safety.

Dongfang Qingcang was torturing Xiao Lan Hua to make her confessed about the destiny book. But she didn’t know anything about it. So he forced her to restore the destiny book, if she didn’t Dongfang Qingcang would burned the garden.

Suddenly they heard the bell ring. It was Changheng. Because nobody answered the bell, Changheng entered the Arbiter Hall. He goes straight into the garden and meets Ivy, one of the spirit plants that live in the garden. Ivy said that the Arbiter Hall was safe and nobody would come to burn the garden. When Changheng asked for our little orchid, Ivy answered that she was in seclusion to practice for the examination. Ivy tried to give him some hints to make him look for Xiao Lan Hua, but he didn’t get the hints.

Our little orchid was held hostage by Dongfang Qingcang. Xiao Lan Hua cried that her life was unlucky after she met him. She lost the elixir and also missed the opportunity to meet Changheng.

Xiao Lan Hua struggled to repair Chidi Nüzi’s destiny book. But she was too tired to do it. So she demanded some rest. Dongfang Qingcang let her rest but he also intended to stay for the night. Xiao Lan Hua refused the idea, but he was too domineering. She lost the fight.

She took him to her master’s bedroom and let him stay for the night. Before she left him, Xiao Lan Hua told Dongfang Qingcang that she already had someone she liked. But the evil king didn’t care at all…🤣

Although Xiao Lan Hua already prepared Siming’s room for Dongfang Qingcang, he still followed her into her bedroom. He determined not to let her slip from his sight. But Xiao Lan Hua retaliated. She was dead tired and needed a good sleep without any disturbances, including from the annoying Dongfang Qingcang. After a series of bantering, the devil and fairy finally go to their room and sleep.

That night, Xiao Lan Hua dreamed of getting caught by Changheng and the heavenly soldiers.

I have to say we were almost slayed by 2nd hand embarrassment so many times during the earlier scenes 🤣

Thanks so much for this! I watched this series already, but there were several things I didn’t quite understand or pick up on. I’m rewatching it and reading your recaps as I watch the episodes. It has helped a lot already! (Like somehow I missed that Dan yin’s father was a God of War before!) I loved this series so much and this just makes me love it more!
