Episode 31

Tao Jun Hui argued with Wu Fei in his office. Wu Fei was very emotional that she was panting and her vein was throbbing. Tao Jun Hui held back his anger and explained that he was avoiding the wrong strategy that could cause dire consequences. They did not have any evidence. The witness that He Dong Na prepared was a serial pervert who committed sexual harassment toward the hotel staff.

The most feasible solution was to have He Dong Na cancel her intention to sue Yao Yao. Although Tao Jun Hui’s argument made sense, Wu Fei was too emotional and too stubborn to properly respond to it.

He Dong Na was displeased with the advice. Tao Jun Hui showed her footage when she made a ruckus in front of the hotel’s car. But she did not care about it because she was bent on suing Yao Yao and make the hotel fire her. She had to do that because somebody forced her to keep pressing charges against Yao Yao. That somebody was Tianhang Hotel itself. Everybody held their breath. The case rolled into a direction that they never thought of.

Qin Shi complained to Qiao Si Ming because he disclosed her information to Wang Jie Sen. Right now, Wang Jie Sen knew all about her marriage to Yang Hua. Qin Shi realized that because Wang Jie Sen was Yang Hua’s acquaintance, he must have known that the information was fake. Qiao Si Ming refused her accusation.

He said that Wang Jie Sen only asked about the formation of lawyers in the law firm. He used Qin Shi as an example because according to Qiao Si Ming, she was the perfect example. Qin Shi and her husband pursued their careers and chose to live separately. And yet, they were still loyal to each other. In Qiao Si Ming’s eyes, Qin Shi was the epitome of a career woman.

Qin Shi felt that her vein was throbbing at the moment. She stared at the spirited Qiao Si Ming. Qin Shi warned Qiao Si Ming to never let himself be held captive. Because even without the tortures, Qiao Si Ming would tell them everything he knew…😅

Qin Shi told him that Cheng & Hui might not take He Dong Na’s case. And Hu Ping’s side only sent Wang Jie Sen to investigate their law firm. If they could not settle He Dong Na’s case appropriately, she cannot be sure that Hu Ping would invest in their law firm.

A heavy voice denied her comments. Wang Jie Sen entered the room leisurely. Qiao Si Ming immediately stood up to give Wang Jie Sen a place to sit. Wang Jie Sen explained that the only reference point for an investor to consider an investment was the earning potential and development prospect. Wang Jie Sen asked why Qin Shi was very pessimistic about He Dong Na’s case. Qin Shi did not want to reveal her thought, so she pretended that she knew nothing about the case.

At the same time, they saw He Dong Na leaving the meeting room accompanied by Tang Yi Hui and the others. They did not seem to be in a bad mood. The scene confused Qin Shi. When she questioned the reason why Wang Jie Sen did not testify for Yang Hua, he answered that the truth would not change anything.

They had to protect Qiu Jian Xiang for the sake of their future. Qiu Jian Xiang had done so much for him, therefore Wang Jie Sen felt that he had to stand up for Qiu Jian Xiang. He admitted that making a subordinate become a scapegoat was a common practice.

Wang Jie Sen asked her again for a dinner date and still got rejected. He threatened Qin Shi that he would tell Tang Yi Hui the truth about Yang Hua. Qin Shi had no choice but to accept the invitation.

Tao Jun Hui told Wu Fei that he did not want to become He Dong Na’s attorney. Wu Fei was shocked and told him that her father had paved the way for him through the case. As the last resort, Wu Fei told Tao Jun Hui that Tang Yi Hui had promised her something. If Tao Jun Hui could settle He Dong Na’s case and handle Hu Ping, he would be promoted to partner. Tao Jun Hui stilled and asked Wu Fei when it happened.

After a yoga session, Tang Yi Hui told Qin Shi that Wu Fei had a term before she gave her He Dong Na’s case. Wu Fei was quite skillful on quid pro quo and Tao Jun Hui was lucky to have a skillful wife. Hence, Tao Jun Hui’s future would be bright.

Qin Shi felt that Tang Yi Hui had a hidden intention by mentioning Tao Jun Hui to her. She emphasized that she got close to Tao Jun Hui to accomplish the task that had been given to her. She asserted that she never had any intention to get back to him. Tang Yi Hui told Qin Shi that Wu Fei wanted her to fire Qin Shi.

Tang Yi Hui said that giving up Qin Shi for He Dong Na’s case was not worth it. Qin Shi had made a huge amount of money for Cheng & Hui every year. To convince Tang Yi Hui, Wu Fei mentioned that He Dong Na’s husband was someone that Tang Yi Hui wanted.

Tang Yi Hui told Qin Shi that she would allow her to get back at Wu Fei because she did not like office politics. And it would be unfair to her. Tang Yi Hui whispered a secret that He Dong Na was getting a divorce. It made sense why Wang Jie Sen said that He Dong Na’s case had nothing to do with the investment. Qin Shi understood what she must do about Wang Jie Sen.

Yang Hua was getting ready to attend the trial and he looked nervous. Qin Shi comforted him and gave him some pointers on how to answer the question. She told him to say what he knew and ignored the rest.

Qiu Jian Xiang’s trial and Yao Yao’s trial were held in the same building at the same time.

Yang Hua entered the room and glanced at Qiu Jian Xiang. The judge said that to understand the reason why Qiu Jian Xiang sold the stock at a low price, they needed someone who understand his train of thought. And the person was Yang Hua. He answered all the questions about the stock that made Qiu Jian Xiang in trouble. When the trial is over, the disheveled Qiu Jian Xiang bowed to Yang Hua and thanked him. Yang Hua stiffly answered that he was only doing his job.

At the same time, Yao Yao had to face an ugly truth. The truth that she wanted to fight for meant nothing when in the faced of money. The colleague that used to be on her side suddenly turned against her. The story they told in court was a contrast to the real situation. Yao Yao’s confidence started to crumble. On the contrary, the smile on He Dong Na’s face was getting wider.

When the trial was over and everybody had left the room. Yao Yao still sat on her chair with a dejected expression on her face. Suddenly a cup of coffee was placed in front of her. Tao Jun Hui stared at Yao Yao with a sympathetic look. He told Yao Yao that she better waited for a while because the reporters were clamoring at the entrance door. Yao Yao followed Tao Jun Hui’s advice and wait in the courtroom for a while. When she thought that the reporters were gone, she stood up and prepared to leave. Suddenly someone called her name. It was Li Dai.

To help Yao Yao, Li Dai acted as a decoy and wore Yao Yao’s blue coat. The reporters ran after her and did not notice when Yao Yao left the courthouse. When she was in the parking lot, Yang Hua pulled her and pushed her into a white sedan. Yang Hua sat in the driver’s seat and immediately drove out of the parking lot.

Yao Yao was stunned when she realized Yang Hua had helped her. A flash of memory showed up. Several years ago two lovers spent their time on the beach. The girl held a camera and took a picture of a smiling young man in a white shirt. The photo of that young man used to stay on Qin Shi’s desk for years.

Li Dai was waiting for Yang Hua on the side of the road. When Yang Hua pulled over, she told him that Qiu Jian Xiang had a heart attack and now he was on the way to the hospital. Yao Yao heard it and said that she would not disturb them any longer. She said thank you and left the car.

Alone at the side of the road, Yao Yao stared at the white sedan and recalled another memory. She ran out of their apartment building while Yang Hua chased after her. Back then she was angry at Yang Hua because he decided to go to Canada and left her for two years. Yao Yao was also worried that Yang Hua might end up as Qiu Jian Xiang’s son-in-law.

Although Yang Hua reassured her that it would not happen, Yao Yao did not believe him. Amid her anger, she told Yang Hua that he was a selfish man who did not deserve a good life. She left after she cursed him.

Inside the car, Yang Hua told Li Dai to inform the hospital that Qiu Jian Xiang might have Alzheimer’s disease. Li Dai was shocked when she heard him.

In another place, Qin Shi was having a lunch date with Wang Jie Sen. Different from before, Qin Shi left all the hostile manner and turned into a coquettish person. Yet, she still maintained a safe distance from him. Wang Jie Sen persuaded Qin Shi to leave Cheng & Hui. He said that after Cheng & Hui project, he would go to Zurich and ask Qin Shi to go with him. Wang Jie Sen tried to touch Qin Shi’s hand and got slapped. But this person was really shameless.😣

Li Dai asked Yang Hua how he knew about Alzheimer’s disease even before the doctor confirmed it. Yang Hua explained that Qiu Jian Xiang should have remembered every decision he made, but he did not. Qiu Jian Xiang also had different judgments over the same data. Yang Hua told Li Dai that Qiu Jian Xiang was a person who put his career over everything including his family.

But now he had nothing. Yang Hua was grateful because Qiu Jian Xiang expelled him from the financial industry or he might end up like him. Li Dai said that thanks to his help, Qiu Jian Xiang did not end up in a worse situation.

Li Dai was impressed with Yang Hua and his calmness. But when she asked Yang Hua how did he knew Yao Yao, the solemn expression on his face cracked. Li Dai’s curiosity was piqued. The gossip lady has returned…😂

Qin Shi returned to her office angrily. Wang Jie Sen told her a story about Yang Hua’s past. He said that if Yang Hua did not tell Qin Shi that he almost became Qiu Jian Xiang’s son-in-law then he would not tell her about his childhood sweetheart girlfriend. Qin Shi felt that her blood was boiling when she remembered Wang Jie Sen’s words. The jealousy hit her hard.

Jin Cheng and Tang Yi Hui invited He Dong Na, Wang Jie Sen, and their subordinates to celebrate their winning. Everybody was happy and Wu Fei was proud. Nobody noticed that Tao Jun Hui’s smile was only perfunctory. When Wang Jie Sen secretly left the room. Wu Fei noticed it and signaled Zhou Qian Qian to follow him.

Inside the dining room, Qin Shi was answering Li Dai’s call. She babbled about her admiration for Yang Hua. She asked Qin Shi when she would divorce Yang Hua and offered some money so Qin Shi could let Yang Hua be single again…😅

Qin Shi almost hung up the phone when Li Dai told her about Yao Yao who was set up by her own company. Li Dai criticized Cheng & Hui and told Qin Shi to ask about the case to Tao Jun Hui. Qin Shi was curious why Li Dai knew Yao Yao. Li Dai told her that it was Yang Hua who knew Yao Yao and she was sure their relationship was special. Li Dai added that if Qin Shi knew more about Yang Hua and Yao Yao’s relationship, she must tell her immediately because she would love to hear the gossip.

Episode 32

Qin Shi had to suppress her jealousy when she listen to Li Dai’s chatter. But then Li Dai gave her important information about Qiu Jian Xiang. She said that the person who banned Yang Hua from the finance industry might not be Qiu Jian Xiang, but somebody else.

While she talk to Li Dai, Qin Shi did not notice that Wang Jie Sen had entered the room. He leaned on her and whispered in her ear, asking who was on the phone. Qin Shi recalled when Yang Hua told her about how Wang Jie Sen betrayed their friendship. Qin Shi concluded that the person who banned Yang Hua was Wang Jie Sen.

Qin Shi hid her thought and acted coquettishly with Wang Jie Sen. She let him put his hand on her shoulder. Wang Jie Sen reassured Qin Shi that the decision of the Cheng & Hui project was in his hand. He told her that if she was curious about the report, she should go with him to Hangzhou the next day.

Behind the glass door, Zhou Qian Qian secretly took photos of Qin Shi and Wang Jie Sen. She sent them to Wu Fei who was happy to receive it. Tao Jun Hui told Wu Fei that he had to leave the party to prepare meeting materials for his clients. Wu Fei was disappointed but she knew that Tao Jun Hui always took his job seriously.

When Tao Jun Hui walked past the dining room, he accidentally saw Wang Jie Sen flirting with Qin Shi. The sight startled him. Qin Shi saw him peeking at them but she did not care.

Wu Fei asked He Dong Na when she would arrange a meeting for her husband, Hu Ping, and Tang Yi Hui. He Dong Na did not give a satisfying answer and even ridiculed Wu Fei. She told Wu Fei that their collaboration will end and she will let her legal team take care of everything. Wu Fei gaped at her answer. He Dong Na coaxed her and said that when Hu Ping returned she would give Wu Fei a call.

Yang Hua was at the apartment when an unknown number sent him a photo of Qin Shi and Wang Jie Sen at the dining room. His expression was ugly and he immediately left.

When Qin Shi returned to her office, Tao Jun Hui already waited for her. He accused Qin Shi had changed and now she became greedy for status, shares, and money. Qin Shi was offended by his accusation. Tao Jun Hui asked again whether her marriage with Yang Hua was real love or not. Qin Shi frowned and answered that she loved Yang Hua. Tao Jun Hui‘s face seemed to harden. He told Qin Shi that Yang Hua was a conman who lied about his job and background.

His sentence startled Qin Shi. She shut him off and pulled Tao Jun Hui to her office. Tao Jun Hui raised his voice and told Qin Shi that if she was scared she should not marry a liar. Qin Shi was angry. She pointed her finger at him and told him to shut up.

Wu Fei called her father and complained about He Dong Na who turned her back on them. Mr. Wu calmed her down and promised that he would find a solution to her problem. When Wu Fei left the bathroom, she met Tang Yi Hui who asked her again about Hu Ping’s matter. Wu Fei could not tell her the truth and told Tang Yi Hui to wait for good news from her.

Tao Jun Hui was happy after he learned the truth from Qin Shi. He praised her for her courage to make up big lie and married a stranger only for a job. Qin Shi wanted to tell him about her dream but she realized that Tao Jun Hui would not understand at all. Tao Jun Hui’s smile stilled when he heard her words. Qin Shi asked Tao Jun Hui to keep it a secret but he said that her story had too many loopholes. Sooner or later others would realize it.

Tao Jun Hui stared at Qin Shi and asked earnestly whether Wang Jie Sen knew something about her lies. He wanted to know why Qin Shi considered the job very important so that she would let Wang Jie Sen take advantage of her. He also ridiculed Yang Hua because he was not there for her. Qin Shi snapped that her relationship was not his concern and reminded Tao Jun Hui that his family despised her. Her statement made Tao Jun Hui uncomfortable.

Qin Shi admitted that she was an ambitious person. She wanted to be a winner so nobody could judge her ever again. She leaned forward and stared at Tao Jun Hui. Asking on what basis Tao Jun Hui dare to blame her. In her eyes, Tao Jun Hui demanded that she lived a clean and pure life. While he found himself a girlfriend who could boost his career.

Qin Shi’s words poked Tao Jun Hui’s sore spot. He admitted that he was unqualified to make a demand on her. He stood up and before he left, Tao Jun Hui reminded her that Qin Shi should stay away from Wang Jie Sen and never believed any of his words. He also said that although the job meant a lot to her, it was still a job. He also promised that he would keep her secret.

Tang Yi Hui picked up a call that made her return to the office. Mrs. Liang wanted to meet her and Jin Cheng to talk about an important matter and asked for their decision. Tang Yi Hui called Qin Shi and told her to come to her office.

Yang Hua met Qin Shi outside of her office building. He checked on her and asked whether she was okay. Yang Hua said that he was passing by and decided to pick her up.

Tao Jun Hui still mulled over something when Wu Fei came in. She looked tired and Tao Jun Hui comforted her.

Yang Hua made a pot of hotpot for Qin Shi. He asked about Wang Jie Sen and told her if he made things hard for her, he got a way to tackle him. Qin Shi refused because she thought she was nobody. Qin Shi mentioned that Li Dai told her that Yang Hua met his acquaintances. Yang Hua recalled Cai Liang’s advice about ex-girlfriends: never ever tell the truth. Even if he died, Yang Hua must never admit it because women’s possessiveness was horrible.

Qin Shi asked him several questions about Yao Yao while stuffing herself with food. She seemed casual but there was something off about her questions. Her sentence was short and effective, straight to the point. She was more like questioning a witness than questioning her husband. 😅

Yang Hua answered her questions carefully. He explained that Yao Yao was his schoolmate. They lived in the same neighbourhood and went to the same school. Qin Shi told him that she saw Yao Yao before in her office. She emphasized the fact that Yao Yao was pretty and tall. She asked Yang Hua whether Yao Yao was also a beauty when she was young. Yang Hua said that she was a naughty girl who bullied others.

Qin Shi could guess that Cai Liang was the one who told Yang Hua how to answer questions about Yao Yao. And because his answer did not satisfy her, she told him what Li Dai said to her.

According to Li Dai, Yang Hua’s face turned pale when he saw many people stopping his Yao Yao at the courthouse. And because of Yao Yao, Li Dai suffered some scoldings and demanded Qin Shi to remember the favor. Yang Hua refuted her words. He said that Yao Yao was not his girlfriend and he saw Li Dai was fine though. Qin Shi stared at him intently and it made Yang Hua nervous. Luckily, Father Yang called him at the right time.

Yang Hua ran to his room to answer the call. Father Yang heard the news about Yao Yao and reminded him to talk about Yao Yao to Qin Shi carefully. Women care a lot about the ex matters. It cannot be hidden but Yang Hua must not act recklessly.

When Yang Hua returned to the dining table, he saw Qin Shi’s state was not good. She emitted a cold aura that was terrifying. Qin Shi told Yang Hua that if he did not want to talk about it, she would not force it nor had the mood to listen to it. Yang Hua was confused and did not know what to do.

The next day, Yang Hua told Cai Liang that he was worried about Wang Jie Sen because he was a devious person. However, the person who sent him the picture harbored an evil intention. Cai Liang asked Yang Hua about his feeling when he saw Yao Yao and if he had the chance, which one would he choose, Yao Yao or Qin Shi. Yang Hua said that he did not have any right to choose.

Qin Shi was preparing her suitcase for Hangzhou. Tao Jun Hui called and told her not to go. Qin Shi refused and told him to mind his own business. Tao Jun Hui wanted to visit her, but Qiao Si Ming stopped him at the door. And when he finished talking, Qin Shi was already gone.

He Dong Na’s husband, Hu Ping, finally showed up. He was reading a book when his assistant reported that the Hangzhou matter had been arranged.

Wu Fei was dissatisfied because Qin Shi was the one tasked to entertain Wang Jie Sen in Hangzhou. Tang Yi Hui reassured her that it was just an entertaining job. She also reminded Wu Fei again to arrange a meeting with Hu Ping, since Jin Cheng was in Pujiang.

He Dong Na was in her trailer when she got a message from Wang Jie Sen telling her that he had arrived in Hangzhou. He told her to meet him at their usual place after dinner. He Dong Na immediately cancelled her schedule that night.

On her last day at Tianhang Hotel, one of the witnesses who testified for He Dong Na apologized to Yao Yao. She said that she was forced to lie. Yao Yao responded that she understood her difficulties. But she also warned her that in the future when she suffered from injustice, nobody would stand up for her.

Yang Hua was getting ready to work when an unknown number sent him another message. It said that Qin Shi was having an affair with another man. The person also sent the address to him. Yang Hua read the message with his eyes wide open. He asked Cai Liang to drive him to the address.

Tang Yi Hui sent Qin Shi a message. She had to keep her eyes on Wang Jie Sen because his report would decide the investment matter. And if the task was accomplished, she would be rewarded handsomely.

Meanwhile, Tianhang Hotel received a report about a hotel guest who was going to commit suicide in a live stream. The person who received the call was angry because Yao Yao handled the problem.

Yao Yao found the suspicious guest when everybody rushed to the emergency stair. The guest was angry at her and tried to stab Yao Yao with a knife.

Tao Jun Hui and Gang Zi went to Hangzhou to chase after Qin Shi. He was panicked because he lost track of them. Tao Jun Hui called Yang Hua and told him about Qin Shi going to Hangzhou with Wang Jie Sen. Back in the office, Wang Jie Sen was the one who asked for Qin Shi to go alone with him.

Yang Hua did not reveal the message and told Tao Jun Hui that Qin Shi was only on a work trip with a colleague. Tao Jun Hui scolded Yang Hua because he was the reason why Wang Jie Sen chose Qin Shi. He was angry when Yang Hua seemed clueless about what to do.

Cai Liang rushed to Yang Hua because he got a piece of news that Yao Yao was stabbed at her hotel. Yang Hua was startled and told Cai Liang to drive, but he did not tell him which way to go. Cai Liang was puzzled. Where should they go, to chase after Qin Shi or turn back to Yao Yao?

Qin Shi arrived at the house in Hangzhou. As soon as they arrived, Wang Jie Sen could not wait to seduce her. But Qin Shi stopped Wang Jie Sen and told him that he had to finish the report first before they get down to another business. Qin Shi shook off her goosebumps after she left the room.

Wu Fei got news about He Dong Na’s divorce from her father. He suspected that Tang Yi Hui already knew the news and she might have a plan up her sleeve. Wu Fei sneaked into Qin Shi’s office and pried on her Macbook. She found the file about her marital agreement with Yang Hua. And what was written in it shocked her.

Wang Jie Sen finished his report. He printed it and went to find Qin Shi. At the same time, Tao Jun Hui arrived at the house where Qin Shi and Wang Jie Sen stayed. He climbed over the fence and instructed Gang Zi to call the police if he did not return in fifteen minutes.

Tao Jun Hui quietly entered the unlocked house. He followed the rose petal on the stairs that led to a bedroom. When he almost opened the door, Qin Shi appeared behind him.

Wang Jie Sen opened a door and saw a woman clad in yellow waiting for him. He hugged her from behind and whispered Qin Shi’s name. He said that it was a waste for a gorgeous woman like her to be with a pathetic person like Yang Hua. He deserved her more.

Wang Jie Sen did not realize that the person in his arm was not Qin Shi, but He Dong Na.

In these episodes, Tao Jun Hui was the winner. He started to understand how important Qin Shi was to him. Yet, he was late. Up until now, Tao Jun Hui still could not convince his family to accept Qin Shi and her family. So I guess Qin Shi was only his wishful thinking.
