Dear readers, we only had 2 Love Like The Galaxy episode recap left for this amazing drama. These was the saddest episodes for me. And so far, there was no sign that Shao Shang would be reconciled with Huo Bu Yi. Well, let’s just start the recap for this episodes 53 and 54. Happy reading!

Episode 53

When Shao Shang opened her morning door, she saw Luo Jitong kneeling in front of her door. She apologizes for being rude at the banquet. She said that ever since her husband passed away, her Luo family had forced her to remarry. They wanted her to marry into a powerful family. Luo Jitong was getting anxious because it was hard to find a good husband for a second marriage.

Shao Shang was quiet the whole time, letting her finish her words. She knew that Luo Jitong loved Huo Bu Yi, therefore she did not want to let go off him. And sadly, Huo Bu Yi did not feel the same as Luo Jitong.

Luo Jitong was stunned when she heard Shao Shang’s last words. There was hatred on her face. Shao Shang stated that she did not want to meddle in her business. So she would not plead for her or persuade Huo Bu Yi to marry her. Luo Jitong said that her infatuation had come to an end. She decided to return to Northwest and had come to bid farewell. But before she go, she wanted to do something for Empress Xuan.

Meanwhile, Huo Bu Yi visited Empress Xuan. Madam Zhai told him that the Empress had been missing him since he went to Northwest. The Empress had been in a weak condition lately. Huo Bu Yi seemed very sad when he saw her. The Empress caressed his cheek. Although Huo Bu Yi was a foster son, he grew up under her care and the Empress love him very much.

Empress Xuan told him that Yuan Shen and Shao Shang were not engaged and she still has him in his heart. Huo Bu Yi answered that he knew all about that. The Empress gave him some advice. Shao Shang has never been loved by her family when she needed it the most. If Huo Bu Yi wanted to love her, he just made up for her grief. He must understand her and tell her everything.

Huo Bu Yi promised that he would not lie to her and he would tell her everything from now on. Empress Xuan knew her life won’t be long, she regretted that she could never see Huo Bu Yi get married. Huo Bu Yi felt guilty because he made her worried.

The Empress caressed him and said that she hoped that in her next life, Huo Bu Yi and Cheng Shao Shang were her biological children and she could live a longer life to be with them and died with a smile. That was the life she hoped for. However, the touching reunion with Empress Xuan must be stopped because Madam Zhai said that General Liang Qiu Fei sent an urgent message. It said that Luo Jitong took Shao Shang into the carriage and went to the suburb one hour ago. Huo Bu Yi hurriedly chased after her.

Meanwhile, Shao Shang felt restless but she hides it well. She begins suspecting Luo Jitong when they had been in the carriage for a long time, but hadn’t arrived at their destination. Shao Shang told her to turn back the carriage. Luo Jitong just need to tell her where the said physician who could cure the empress lived, then she would come back again with a precious gift for the physician.

Shao Shang advised Luo Jitong to choose a husband wisely. If there was no suitable candidate, she did not have to force herself. Luo Jitong mocked her for not understanding her feeling. Other than Huo Bu Yi, Luo Jitong would not take another man to be a husband. She had been fascinated by him for years. She even said that when she was in bed, she used Qia Jilang as the replacement for Huo Bu Yi.

Luo Jitong scolded Shao Shang as a heartless person. Shao Shang rebuked her word by saying if not for the Empress, she would never get into the carriage with her. However, Luo Jitong refused to let her go off the carriage. She was there to avenge her heartache because Huo Bu Yi cut all ties with her. When Luo Jitong pushed Shao Shang into the corner, she saw the bite mark on her arm.

In anger, she took a knife and placed it near Shao Shang’s neck. Luo Jitong always thought that she was smarter and more virtuous than Shao Shang, but Luo Jitong questioned what make Shao Shang very special to Huo Bu Yi that he refused the other girl. She even admitted that she killed her husband so she would have a chance to be together with Huo Bu Yi. Now she planned to kill her, so Huo Bu Yi would always remember her, even if it was out of hatred.

When Luo Jitong tried to stab her, Huo Bu Yi was outside the carriage, riding on his horse. He tried to persuade Luo Jitong but failed. He used his own hand to blocked the knife. Blood trickled down his palm. Huo Bu Yi jumped into the carriage when he saw that the carriage was going in the direction of a cliff. He tried to stop the horse, but the inertia was too strong that he failed. During the critical time, Huo Bu Yi broke the carriage door and took Shao Shang to fly out of the carriage, while it fall into the cliff with Luo Jitong in it.

A well-deserved ending for an evil person.😱

Huo Bu Yi and Shao Shang were hanging on the cliff. Huo Bu Yi only relied on his left hand while his bloodied right hand hold Shao Shang’s hand. Shao Shang could feel that she was slipping bit by bit. She urged him to let her go, but he refused.

Huo Bu Yi said that ever since they made a vow and bit each other’s arm, he already regarded her as his wife. He could never live without her. Therefore, if she lived, he’ll live. And if she died, he’ll die too. Shao Shang looked up at him with a complicated emotion. Suddenly, they heard Liang Qiu Qi called for his young master and throw a rope to save them.

Huo Bu Yi wanted to take her back to the Palace, but she refused. Huo Bu Yi walked to his horse while Shao Shang went to the carriage when a messenger from the Palace come. He brought an order from the Emperor. They should head back to the Palace because Empress Xuan was dying.

It was raining when they arrived at Changqiu Palace. All the princes and princess have already knelt inside Empress Xuan’s chamber. The Emperor holds her hand, and Empress Yue stands with red-rimmed eyes.

Xuan Shen’an still remembers the Emperor as a young and upright man who loves to read and prefers to stay in the countryside. The Emperor felt guilty because he held up her life, but Xuan Shen’an said that marrying him was her biggest fortune.

She told her husband that he should pay more attention to Yue Heng because she always kept her sorrow. She also hoped for them to live together forever as if she had never been there. Yue Heng broke down and cried when she heard her words.

When she talked to Yue Heng, Xuan Shen’an said that she never suspected Yue Heng of her son’s death, while Yue Heng also thought the same when she lost her baby boy. Yue Heng replied to her words that for her, Xuan Shen’an was like a biological sister.

Xuan Shen’an asked the Emperor to let her cut some of her hair and burn it to ashes. She wanted Shao Shang to take it and scatter the ashes on the mountain where her father used to live.

When Xuan Shen’an called Huo Bu Yi, he apologized to her. But Xuan Shen’an never blamed him in the first place. She told him to forget the past and forgive himself. When Xuan Shen’an talked to Shao Shang, she hoped that Shao Shang did not waste her life as she did. She must live well in the future. As a mother, Xuan Shen’an also wanted Shao Shang and Huo Bu Yi could continue their relationship. However, she knows that a marriage can not be forced.

So she advised them to follow their hearts, cherish the present, and not regret it. Her last words were for the Emperor. Xuan Shen’an wished in her next life they would never meet. She breathed her last after she said those words.

Xuan Shen’an died in her husband’s arms. Everybody cried for her, the most gracious and benevolent Empress.

Shao Shang walked absent-mindedly under the rain before she fell and fainted. Huo Bu Yi who saw her, run as fast as he could and carry her to the Cheng residence.

Father and Mother Cheng asked him what has happened that made Shao Shang fall into that state. Huo Bu Yi replied that Empress Xuan has passed away. His answer shocked the couple. When Huo Bu Yi bid farewell, Father Cheng stopped him. The always easygoing Father Cheng got emotional when he saw her daughter state and Huo Bu Yi.

He vented his anger on the young general. He mentioned that 5 years ago when he abandoned Shao Shang, she was sick and dying. The Cheng family still had the half-done coffin for Shao Shang stored in their backyard.

While Mother Cheng scolded him and told him that when they lost Shao Shang 5 years ago, they also lost their daughter for 5 years. Shao Shang’s choice to stay at the Changqiu Palace was for him.

Huo Bu Yi kowtowed in front of them and asked for forgiveness from the Chengs. He admitted that he had failed Shao Shang’s love for him and failed the Cheng family’s trust in him. He told them that his guilt made him seek death on the battlefield. But he knows that he could not die since he has not been able to make her let go of the resentment.

Mother Cheng reassured him that they did not have any intention to make him plead guilty. They love Shao Shang, but they also abandoned her when she was young and they regret it now. Mother Cheng told him that they were going to let Shao Shang decide her future marriage. They know that Shao Shang and Huo Bu Yi loved each other, but whether they could be together again or not, they would let fate decide.

Episode 54

Shao Shang and Huo Bu Yi prepared a sweet offering for the late Empress Xuan as she was fond of sugar made by Shao Shang’s sugarcane crusher. As they sat by the offering table, they talked about their feelings. Shao Shang recalled her feeling when Huo Bu Yi left her 5 years ago.

She hated him for leaving her behind and chose to jump off the cliff rather than walk beside her. Ultimately, Shao Shang hated Huo Bu Yi because she had shown him her true feeling but he repay it with lies. She had to work hard to let go of the past, but she could never show him her true feelings or believe in him again.

Huo Bu Yi once again apologized to her. He said that for the past 5 years, his days were full of regret. Huo Bu Yi knew that Shao Shang was afraid of getting left behind, but he hurt her maliciously. Huo Bu Yi said that he had spent 20 years of his life in hatred, and now he would spend the rest of his life in regret. And if there was a second chance for him, he would do anything to prove his sincerity to her. But Huo Bu Yi knew that it was wishful thinking.

While staring at the stars, Shao Shang told Huo Bu Yi that she would leave the capital after she finished the last task for the late Empress. She wanted to travel around the world to learn and gain knowledge. Shao Shang said that she would live well, and she hoped Huo Bu Yi would do the same too.

Huo Bu Yi feel at loss, but he could do nothing about her decision. Huo Bu Yi told Shao Shang that he would return to the Northwest after he finished the task from the Emperor about the Land Distribution Order. But he promised Shao Shang that he would take care of himself and live well too. They parted ways after smiling at each other. However, both of them stopped for a while, and let their tears roll down their face once again.

It has been 49 days after the Empress passed away when Shao Shang returned to her home. Mother Cheng saw her walking around their home and stopped her. She told Shao Shang that she had made her a sweet cake, and asked Shao Shang to try it.

Shao Shang did not say anything about the cake, probably because it didn’t taste as good as Mother Cheng hoped. She always had been a bad cook after all. However, Mother Cheng told Shao Shang to let her try everything she could do to make her daughter happy. Mother Cheng admitted that all this time, she did not know how to raise a daughter, never knew that raising a daughter would be different from leading a troop, and was unaware that a daughter was different from a son.

However, she wanted to change her attitude, but she lost the chance because Shao Shang had grown up so fast. Mother Cheng wished to have another chance to be with Shao Shang. She would never leave her behind again, even if it risked their life.

Father Cheng also said the same. He would rather disobey Old Madam Cheng to keep Shao Shang by his side. Mother Cheng questioned his determination to go against his mother. Father Cheng was afraid to deliver a plate of cake to Old Madam Cheng and inform her that he would go to Yu County to settle the dispute between the civilian. Father Cheng argued that he did not dare to meet his mother because he was afraid that she would forbid him to go.

Father Cheng cracked a joke about 3 people that he ever worried about, Old Madam Cheng, Shao Shang, and Mother Cheng. But the worst out of the three was Mother Cheng. Madam Cheng and Shao Shang stared at each other and smiled after they heard his joke. When her mother caressed her hand, Shao Shang did not reject her, but she put her hand over her mother’s. It was a touching moment when the mother and daughter reconciled.

Shao Shang brought a plate of cake to her grandmother on behalf of Father Cheng. She accidentally heard her grandmother regret everything she did to her. If there was another chance, she would take good care of her. After all, Shao Shang was her granddaughter. To make up for her mistakes, Old Madam Cheng decides to be her supporter. if Shao Shang wanted to get married, she would let her decide on her future husband. And if Shao Shang wanted to stay single, she would leave all her money and jewelry for Shao Shang.

Shao Shang signaled Lianfang to return to a pavilion. They sat there for a while. Shao Shang recalled when they lived at the country house when she fell ill and almost died. It was Lianfang who always stayed and cared for her. She was the only person Shao Shang trusted back then.

Shao Shang told Lianfang that she wanted to get close to her grandmother, but she did not know how to. She still resents and blamed Old madam Cheng for separating her and her family for years. However, Shao Shang knows that when the Cheng family was in a dire situation, her grandmother was the one who come forward to protect them and tried her best to be her family.

She also said that she finally agreed with her mother’s opinion of her. Shao Shang was indeed a stubborn person. Now, Shao Shang decided to move on from the past. She would not be bothered by the people who hate her and only focused on those who loved her.

Shao Shang went to the Palace, she met Yuan Shen. She informed him that she would be leaving the next day and wanted to bid him farewell. Yuan Shen replied that he was going to meet the Emperor to inform his departure. Yuan Shen explained that his father was punished by the Emperor. Two years ago Yuan Shen’s father made a mistake on the battlefield and almost get Huo Bu Yi killed.

The Emperor had been merciful to only demote his father and told him to return to Jiaodong to receive punishment. At the same time, Yuan Shen also asked to be transferred to the countryside with his parents. But the punishment was a blessing in disguise for the Yuan family, because it made Official Yuan and Madam Yuan getting close to each other. However, Yuan Shen’s parents were still concerned about Yuan Shen and Shao Shang’s marriage arrangements.

Shao Shang looked at him and with a sad face told him that she was sorry because, in the end, she could not give him what he wanted. Yuan Shen sighed and said that all this time, he already knew that this was going to happen.

And Yuan Shen told Shao Shang that in the future, he would be the most important official and his family would live a prosperous life. It was too bad for Shao Shang because she would not be Madam Yuan and be part of it. Shao Shang smiled and said that one day, Yuan Shen would find another lady better than her.

Yuan Shen reassured Shao Shang that he would be all right. He always knew that he would lose the game. However, he had no regret because he knew that Huo Bu Yi did not win either. Yuan Shen told her to leave before him and don’t look back. Otherwise, he would regret his decision to let her go. Shao Shang left him and never looked back. But Yuan Shen stared at her.

I always thought that Yuan Shen was an arrogant and narcissist person. But in reality, he used those traits as a façade to hide his true feeling. I’m sure right now, his heart was breaking into pieces…😭

When Huo Bu Yi met Yuan Shen, he asked him whether Yuan Shen had made up his mind to leave the capital. Yuan Shen answered that he did, and he would be a shameless person if he keep on fighting with Huo Bu Yi. After all, Huo Bu Yi almost lost his life when he helped his father. Yuan Shen said that he would help Emperor with the Land Distribution Order and he has to visit the states personally.

Meanwhile, Huo Bu Yi also said he also would participate in the Land Distribution Order. He would go to the state of Yu because the Emperor ordered the construction of the Prime Minister’s camp. He was worried that there were still traitors that would harm the Emperor.

Yuan Shen questioned why Huo Bu Yi took the task when it should be General Cheng who went to the state of Yu. Yuan Shen asked Huo Bu Yi, the question that bothered him. Why did Huo Bu Yi help the Yuan family when he know that they were love rivals.

Huo Bu Yi slightly smiled and told Yuan Shen that the only person across the capital who care about Yuan Shen, aside from his family, was him. Be it in the past or the future, Huo Bu Yi would always take care of Yuan Shen because if he didn’t do well, Shao Shang would be worried.

Huo Bu Yi explained that Shao Shang could put her mind at ease when the people she cared about were doing well. That was why Huo Bu Yi would always make sure that Yuan Shen and Lou Yao were doing well because he wanted to set Shao Shang’s mind at ease.

Yuan Shen said that Huo Bu Yi took feeling more seriously than him. He also stated that Huo Bu Yi was more foolish than him. But that was the exact reason why Huo Bu Yi was more worthy of Shao Shang’s love than him. Yuan Shen wished the man who stayed beside her was the one who treated her best.

Shao Shang left the capital to deliver Empress Xuan’s crown back to her homeland, accompanied by her twin brother Cheng Shao Gong. When they were near Huo County, a carriage blocked their road. A soldier reported that a lady wished to meet Shao Shang. It was Lou Li. She was there to convey a message from Lou Yao, who invited her to Huo County to see how the county had developed since she left 5 years ago.

Shao Shang hesitated, but Shao Gong told her to go. However, Lou Li said that He Zhao Jun was pregnant, it was a bad omen for her if Shao Shang came with the late Empress’s belongings. Therefore, Shao Shang told Shao Gong to stay and watch over the crown while she followed Lou Li to Hua County.

When she arrived at Hua County’s magistrate’s office, Shao Shang was surprised to see Lou Li in a mourning attire. It turned out that Grand Tutor Lou and First Madam Lou has passed away for some time.

Shao Shang also made a comment about there were not many guards in the city. Lou Li said that Lou Yao had dispatched some city guards to help Yuan Shen who was patrolling the city border. Lou Li sneered if Shao Shang was afraid that there were not enough servants to serve her. Shao Shang felt uneasy when she heard Lou Li’s words. Her intuition tells her to guard up.

Meanwhile, Huo Bu Yi and his troop walked across a bamboo forest. There was something that made him stop. Suddenly two people come to attack Huo Bu Yi. Liang Qiu Qi and Qiu Fei immediately jumped to protect him. A group of armed people emerged from the forest to attack them. But, in a short time, they all were killed by the Black Armored Guard. Huo Bu Yi then ordered his man to inspect the surrounding.

When they arrived at the hall, Lou Yao said that he was surprised by Shao Shang’s unannounced visit. Shao Shang looked at He Zhao Jun, and she also seemed clueless about the invitation. It means, Lou Li invited Shao Shang on her own account. Lou Li immediately said that she met Shao Shang on her way home. And Lou Li invited her because she remembered it has been a long time since Lou Yao met Shao Shang.

in the middle of their conversation, Lou Yao apologized to Shao Shang because he vent his anger toward her when Lou Ben died. It was all because he was anxious and had no news about Wang Yanji, Lou Ben’s wife. Lou Li cut his words and said that the Lou family’s reputation was destroyed because someone used them as a stepping stone for her own future. He Zhao Jun stopped Lou Li’s words. He Zhao Jun stated that the Lou family lost its reputation because Lou Ben made a mistake.

When the servants came to deliver food, Shao Shang realized that there was an empty seat reserved for someone. She asked Lou Yao about the empty seat. When Lou Yao was about to tell her for whom the empty seat was reserved, Lou Li cut his words and urged Shao Shang to drink the buttermilk.

Shao Shang’s intuition said that there was something wrong with the buttermilk. She looked at the empty seat and the buttermilk and tried to figure out the connection. Lou Li looked at her with anticipation. Suddenly He Zhao Jun groaned because her belly hurt.

She said that she might be going into labor. Everybody panicking. Lou Li sent Lou Yao immediately to find a physician for He Zhao Jun. Lou Li urged Shao Shang to help her move He Zhao Jun to another place. But instead of taking He Zhao Jun to her bedroom, Lou Li took her to the family temple.

Meanwhile, Liang Qiu Fei reported that he found tens of corpses abandoned in the drain. Liang Qiu Fei identified them as the guard from Hua County and the Yuan family. They should be the guards assigned to follow Yuan Shen. Huo Bu Yi was shocked. He immediately ordered his troops to follow him to Hua County.

Inside the temple, Lou Li dismissed the servants and told them to close the door. Shao Shang scanned the room and found there was a secret room behind the statue. But before she could do anything, Lou Li attacked her with a knife.

Aaaahhhhh… another cliffhanger!!!! 🤯
